How to Love

No matter how straightforward it may seem, the human emotion of "love," especially true, unconditional love, is complex and often hard to understand. All that forgiveness, all that dedication, all that light in the dark - how can one person have all that inside of them? You don't understand that, possibly because you're not a human. You're a calculating robot, an alien with a completely different frame of reference, or an artificially created being told only to feel certain ways. If you are a human, however, that doesn't necessarily clue you in to all the secrets of affection. Cold, uncaring assassins, brutal warriors, ruthless womanizers and maneaters, or the just plain broken can often feel like robots among their own kind.

But you want that to change. You have a stirring in your chest for someone and you want to know what love is so you can make them happy. This is the first time you've ever wanted to do so and be so unselfish. Hopefully, they can be a good teacher and help you open up, getting you both closer...

...or you could end up with someone as inexperienced as you. Well, there is something to be said about learning together.

Kristen had been on leave since the shooting for only a few days but this trip had opened her eyes on every level. She and Tony were in the same boat when it came to mature relationships: mostly bad luck for him and her ex being abusive. So while on the sofa watching him make a late dinner she made a observation,"I like to think its fate, how one night on a Bond site can bring two people with the worst romantic luck together." but she was smiling now. She had already made plans to transfer to DCPD once a position opened up so she was much happier knowing Gotham would be behind her soon enough.

Jack knew something was wrong the second he entered the apartment. He was old enough to sense tension in the air. "Tony," he calls keeping his tone light and teasing. "You around...and decently naked?"

[Being a brainy person had its perks.

Being a brainy person had a lot more downfalls and problems than a lot of people wanted to admit, even those people who were closest to them. Put that together with too much curiosity and a lot of bad luck? Well, it was a recipe for disaster. Jane knew this all too well—but she would do it all over again if she had to. She helped save the world, traveled across an Einstein-Rossen bridge, and went to Asgard. Yawning, she popped a number of joints as she stood up from her desk. Three months ago, she rejected a position in SHIELD. If Coulson was still there, she would have considered joining, but luckily for her, Stark Industries gave her a second option.

Like she could say no to an opportunity to that.

In those months, she had developed some habits: more coffee, more late nights in the lab working on something, and checking on Tony here and there. So much had happened to all of them that it was beginning to feel like they were part of some secret club. Aliens and all of their ancient evils.

Stifling another yawn, she easily finds Tony’s lab and is not surprised to see him still awake, some tool in his hand.]

Hey, Tony. What has you up at this hour?

[What time was it anyways?]

[He has no love for SHIELD. In any capacity. He never will have any love for SHIELD after the things that they have done. Putting him into that machine and forcing him to relive every single memory - three lifetimes worth of memories, thousands and thousands more.

It's left his brains scrambled. He despises it. He narrowly escaped Shield's custody with his people but none of them can help with this issue. They can hunt tho. And it may have taken dozens of his people but they manage to drag in Barnes -

At the worst moment. It's hard to look like the king you were born to be when you're having an attack of conscience. An attack of Will Daniels and Grant Ward. Hive is bent over, head in his hands and his people don't know what to do so they leave him there. Leave him there.

He can do this. He can play a king. resist the fear. The anger. The urge to run.]

He showed up three days ago and nearly beat up his brother (but it's not his brother it's Grant ward's brother but isn't he Grant Ward? Isn't he?) Is he Grant Ward? Is he Will Daniels?

It's in one of those throes that he tore the apartment apart, overturning bookcases and tossing plants against the wall. And then he felt guilty - guilty as hell because this...this wasn't what brothers did.

So when Tommy returns home the place is only in half disarray and the thing that looked like his brother but was not his brother was picking things up and putting them away -

[Jane, like anyone else, was awed when they first saw Captain America. Why wouldn’t they? The last few generations had only grown up with stories of his amazing feats, the missions he and his team had accomplished, and the mark he left on history. If anything, a lot of it was probably blown out of proportion and the real details were lost with those who lived them.

She spotted him in a café she had come to like in the last few weeks since she had moved to New York. After Thor was unable to come back due to the Bifrost being destroyed, she had to continue on with her work and it took her to the Big Apple (maybe she could get half a chance to pick Tony Stark's brain). However, that awe lasted for all of one minute. The café was crowded, people were itching to get their work day started so it would be done sooner. Someone was bound to get pushy.]

Oh my god! Are you okay?

[Super solider or no, hot coffee spilled all over someone's chest was still hot coffee.]

[Bucky wasn't happy. He didn't take kindly to being kidnapped, and he wasn't sure if this was better or worse than being thrown in a cell or executed. It would depend on what happened now.

Bucky didn't bother to correct him.]

What do you want with me?

[He stares for a moment before rising slowly. Regally.]

You were HYDRA's property.

This is not...right. Or fair. I know what it is to be a slave to higher causes.

[He bares his teeth] But your name is in their archives and I had a wish to find out what man is spoken of with such...praise. And see if you wanted to kill the men who made you.

[Things were weird enough with...not-Grant around. Now Thomas came home and found things a wreck. True, they could have been a lot worse, but it was still enough to make him pause as he came in the door, before he closed it behind him.]
