Karen pauses for a long moment, looking into Frank’s face. She knows she can trust him, she just doesn’t know if she should tell him. The more people she tells, the broader the circle goes, the riskier it all becomes. More people’s lives are on the line that way. Maybe it would be best to just mutter something vague and ask him about what he’s been up to.

But she wants to tell him. She’s been wanting to tell someone. Karen hasn’t even told Ellison what she’s been digging at for the past few weeks since her source came forward. All she’s told her boss is that she’s working on a big story that’ll blow him away. Finally, she leans forward slightly deciding to widen her circle by one more person.

“There are a few cops,” She fidgets, picking at her cuticles as she speaks. “My source thinks they’re dirty. She says they lost evidence on more than one occasion when it came to the same perp - some creep known for going around attacking-- raping women. What makes it even slimier is that this creep ran in the same circles as Wilson Fisk. He did some work for him from time to time. I think it’s that influence that got him off the hook with the cops.”

Karen sighs, looking like she just physically exerted herself confessing all of that. She takes a long drink of coffee and looks down at the table.
