[He's a very casual dater and a casual everything. Things are likely to get silly with him. He'd take his date somewhere where they can get burgers and other greasy food. Unless he knows them really well then he might care enough to get to someplace nicer. He'd dress in his usual shorts, shirt and hoodie. Maybe he'd actually put sneakers on instead of those slippers. He's to lazy to do anything with anyone really so consider yourself lucky with this.]

[Iwaizumi Hajime did not go on dates.

'Oh wow look at his face, he's so scary!'

'Do you see how he treats Oikawa-san? Who could date someone so angry.'

'He's handsome... but also very intimidating. No one would want to date him.'

He's heard it all in the halls of his school, from all sorts of girls and even the odd guy here and there. It was kind of disheartening but he tried not to care too much. He had far too much on his plate as is, or so he would tell himself. He didn't have the time for it.

That all changed after a chance meeting at the park. He was waiting for Oikawa when he noted a group of small boys bullying an even smaller girl. Iwaizumi's instinct kicked in and he interfered- only to find out that she lost to them at arm wrestling and they were heckling mercilessly. So he told them of his undefeated status and challenged each of the boys, beating them in seconds, before inviting the little girl to give it a try. Never has he been so gentle, grasping her hand in such a way- like she was glass that could break. Oh he made a grand show of it, sweating and gritting his teeth, using his free hand to steady his arm for 'more strength'. Then he let her win.

It was after he informed the boys that she let them win for their own safety, winking at her in a knowing way that he noticed he was being watched. He was worried it was Oikawa, but his feelings were mixed when it wasn't.

Iwaizumi felt bad at first, because he didn't quite remember the other setter on Karasuno's name. After the awkward introduction, feeling embarrassed that his act of kindness was seen, they fell into idle chit chat and Iwaizumi couldn't stop thinking about how he really was refreshing and so... nice? Genuinely nice. Not to mention how when Sugawara smiled his heart skipped a beat and his stomach did flips.

The conversation ended when Oikawa arrived, and hasty numbers were exchanged and he went on his day.

He propositioned him for a date a few days later- days filled with texting back and forth, and he was so surprised when he agreed. Iwaizumi chose the aquarium and a picnic of some description. It should be nice, it was casual but also date-like, right?

The day before he spent a good portion of the evening making non perishable food items with his mother and little sister, making fruit punch and filling a large metal thermos with it and letting it chill overnight.

The day of he got to the aquarium early, the food and blanket neatly packed in his bag, which he would toss in a locker at the venue so they can enjoy the aquarium without dealing with the large bag. It was a perfect plan, it was a nice day. But holy shit was he nervous, and he spent his entire wait nervously texting with Oikawa, Mattsun and Makki... none of which were calming his nerves because he nearly forgot he was friends with a bunch of bastards.

God he hoped Sugawara would get here soon before he chucked his phone up a tree.]

[Suga couldn't remember the last time he's been on a date. Sure, he's been asked before, though he always politely declined for a various reasons. It wasn't a good time, he had practice, he had to study, and other things that he really had to do. He always hated to turn down when he was asked by girls and the occasional guy for he always had his mind somewhere else and didn't want them to feel left out. It's not that he didn't want to go on the dates, he never knew when he had the time.

However, Suga changed his mind after he walked through the park one day. He was set to meet Daichi and Asahi for lunch that day when he decided to cut through the park since it was such a nice day. While he walked through he saw such a sweet scene. Suga remembered him from their matches on the court, but he never saw him so gentle before. Suga watched as he was gentle with the girl, letting her win, and stopping the boys from bullying her. It was such a sweet scene that he couldn't help letting him know.

Suga felt equally as bad that he didn't remember his name, only his jersey number and that he had a powerful strike, but after their introductions they fell into an easy conversation. Suga thought Iwaizumi would be as aggressive as he was on the court when it turned out to be the opposite. He was quiet and thoughtful when Suga asked him different things. It felt nice to talk to him, not to mention the way he looked over at him with that little smile made his heart beat a little faster.

Before he could learn more about him Oikawa arrived. Suga had to hurry along, so he left after they exchanged numbers. They started texting a little while after that when a few days later Iwaizumi asked him out on a date. Suga didn't check anything as he agreed. He wanted to go out and learn more about him. Iwaizumi chose the aquarium and then later on they would be going on a picnic.

Suga asked if he should bring anything when Iwaizumi insisted that he had it covered. He was excited to go out to the aquarium with him. However, he had to calm everyone down when he told them about it. On his way to meet him he received various reassuring messages from his friends that if anything happened they would be there. The only two who didn't have a threatening message was Kageyama and Hinata. Kageyama told him that Iwaizumi would make sure the date was alright and fun. While Hinata told him to have fun, but he would also be there if something happened. The biggest surprise came from Tsukishima who told him to enjoy himself. Suga didn't expect a message from him, he found it very sweet.

Suga wasn't as nervous when he walked over to him, though it looked like Iwaizumi wanted to destroy his phone.]

Hi Iwaizumi-san! How is everything?

[Oh dear sweet jesus-- he was just in the middle of texting the group that if they don't shut their stupid faces about inane things he would come find them after his date was done and kick all of their asses, when Sugawara arrived. It made him jump a bit and he nearly dropped his phone. Recovering quickly he texts them a quick 'he's here' before shoving his phone in his pocket, pointedly ignoring the notifications just rife with kissing and heart emojis.

God he hated them.

Trying not to look as annoyed as he felt, since the anger was directed at the Shit Squad and not Sugawara. Clearing his throat, hands in his pockets, he ended up looking more aloof than anything. He was bad at this.]

Sugawara-san. [Nodding his head politely, left hand leaving his pocket to hand him a ticket for the aquarium, already purchased.]

Everything is fine, I'm hoping this nice weather holds out for later... [Was this boring small talk? Makki warned him not to be boring. Shit.]

Uhm. Did... did you find the place okay?

[Suga wondered if he interrupted anything with the way Iwaizumi jumped when he arrived and almost dropped his phone. Well, it seemed to work out when he put his phone in his pocket. At the way he greeted him, Iwaizumi looked a bit nervous. Suga was nervous too, but he had a good feeling about today. He thanked him for the ticket, feeling warm that he already bought a ticket for him. Suga bough money along to pay for it too. Well, maybe he could buy him something while they were out.

Well, Suga wanted the weather to be good too for their picnic. He nodded as he figured out what he could bring up.]

I hope it does too. If it does rain I'm sure we can find a place to enjoy our picnic instead. Oh yeah, you know I haven't been here in a while. Have you? [There we go that wasn't too bad. Suga felt his phone go off in his pocket, no doubt someone else wishing him well on the date. Things went through their circle a bit faster than he thought.]

I go here sometimes with Shi-- [Ah... damn. Clearing his throat.] Oikawa. Watching fish calms his nerves sometimes. I like it because it's quiet.

[He nods a bit, an indication that they should head inside. He gives the man at the booth his ticket and starts digging out some change for a locker to store his bag.]

Uhm. You can put stuff in here too if you want. I just don't want to lug this around while we're in there.

[A pause.]

[Suga tried to calm down as he racked his brain about what to talk about. He had many different things, however when it came to things like this he found that he would tend to overthink when he became nervous. In an almost similar way like when he was on the court. He reminded himself that it could lead to something great and that helped him calm down.]

It it a nice place to relax. There are so many different kinds of fish to look at too.

[Suga nodded as he walked behind him. He gave the man his ticket and followed him to the lockers. He looked down at the bag he carried whenever he went out that had different things in it and nodded.] Thanks. [Suga shook his head with a reassuring smile.] It's alright, I'm not that good at this either. We can make it better together. Oh, thanks for buying my ticket. [He gave him a shy smile before he moved to put the bag up. He hoped his face wasn't as red as he thought it was. He could hear Daichi telling him to calm down.]

[Marinette was happy. She and Cat had freed her uncle of the Akuma, Chloe was ratted out for her sabotage, and her uncle proved that he was a legendary chef. Him changing the name of the soup after her only made her feel happier, especially since it proved that he did indeed like her. It had been a great day!

But her... alone... with Adrien... even if she had done remarkably better around him today than normal, the idea scared her stiff. To the point that her uncle gave her a concerned look. He was about to ask if she was okay, causing her to react before he even got a word out]

I wasn't sure which place you'd like more, the Botanical Gardens are nice... they have an amphibian place? Which is kind of cool if you like that sort of thing. I've only been there once with Oikawa, but when we went through the bug place one jumped at him and he almost cried.

[A pause.] That happened a couple of months ago. He wasn't even a kid.

[Securing their locker he gives a small and sheepish smile, rubbing the back of his neck.] Yeah... we can. I'd like that.

It's no problem, you're my date, right? This day out is on me, completely. You're worth the ticket price.

[Shit-- did that come out of his mouth? He's flushing a bit more before turning to head into the main lobby where there were cute fish signs telling them of different exhibits of different fish.] S-So. Where... would you want to start? You choose.

[Suga snickered at the mention of Oikawa jumping from a bug. He stored that away for later in case he ever needed it.] I don't think I've been there in a while either. I'd like to go there next time. Oh, um, you know when we can! I'm not afraid of bugs, some of them are really interesting.

[Suga grinned and opened his mouth when he heard what he said. He was worth the ticket? His cheeks heated up as he looked up at Iwaizumi when he turned his head away with a flush across his cheeks. Suga nodded and walked a bit closer to him.] Hmm, oh how about the jellyfish and stingrays first?

It used to be my hobby, you know... when I was a kid. I would spend all my summer catching and collecting them, until Oikawa got me into volleyball. He never liked joining me on bug hunts. [And he's finally smiling- it's small but it's genuine. He liked how Sugawara was walking close to him, and his knuckles brushed the back of his hand... but he didn't reach out for him, not just yet. It was... too soon to take his hand, wasn't it?]

Yeah, that sounds fun. I think they have a stingray pool so we can pet them, if you wouldn't mind that.

[He had to admit... he was kind of excited. He liked this sort of thing a lot.]

Yeah, no kidding. But other than the akuma attack and Chloe being... Chloe, it's been pretty fun.
