The (possibly AU) Incest Meme

Incest is, despite its taboo nature in most societies, actually a pretty popular convention in both romantic fiction and works of a more erotic bent, in everything from period or fantasy pieces to series taking place in places like modern day Japan. Still, the most common configuration in these fictions are the pairing of siblings. Perhaps this is because of the usual lack of age difference and power dynamic that exists in child/adult relative pairings, though this is not always the case. Because of this, a sexual or romantic relationship between siblings can almost seem, well, romantic in the right light. Of course, more often than not, there's a dark side under the veneer of forbidden love.

This meme is for those who would like to play out that, either the darkness or the light - or both.

1. Feeling Strange: You've known this person your entire life, yet lately you've been feeling...different about them. These feelings aren't exactly familial, either.
2. Not as Normal Families: Whatever the specifics of the case may be, your childhood was not the norm, and thus the two of you have grown close that way.
3. Raised Apart: Scientists believe that when siblings are raised together under normal circumstances, they will not find each other sexually attractive; however, if they are reared apart, they may be highly attracted to each other when they meet as adults.
4. Only Kin by Name: Psuedo-incest between step siblings or adopted siblings is not quite as taboo, but you could still be looked down upon for harboring those desires for someone who is a member of your family by one way or another.
5. Defender: One of you is older and has always looked after the other, meaning that something has grown between you that is thicker than any blood.
6. Guilty: You feel terrible for these longings toward your own flesh and blood, and you do your best to stop them. But can you choose who you want to be with? And how disciplined are you when it's someone you care for in other ways?

She's got wings on her back, but for our purposes, I'm thinking that a grungy city, something like the dirty bits of nyc could do, and she could ditch her wings and be born mute. I could see her being the jealous one, but it could go either way with Nill! How's that? Feel free to suggest additional / other things too!

"Breakfast!" Michael's obnoxiously loud voice carries well, right up the stairway and to the second floor where the bedrooms were. It was earlier than usual, but he had already been downstairs to see his girlfriend off. She had not intended to stay the night, but the rain didn't let up and he insisted she not drive out in a storm like that. One thing led to another and they could be pretty vocal in ways that not even the high wind and rain could mask.

This morning, it was still pouring steadily outside, but she couldn't stay any longer. Michael was finishing up the frying of eggs and bacon, with the sound of sizzling almost drowning out the gentle thrumming of water against the kitchen window.

"Hey! Sis! I said w—ah?" Turning from his task, he was quite surprised to find Nill already at the base of the stairs. There's no way she could have been down there that fast in the time he had first called out to her. He made an effort not to look too startled.

"...did you smell what I was cooking?" Or maybe she had trouble sleeping. That happened from time to time. She wasn't a little kid anymore in his eyes, but with their parents out of town on business so often, Michael's bed had remained open to her over the years in cases where insomnia, bad dreams, or loneliness ate away at the girl. A rotten apple in a lot of ways, Michael made countless exceptions for family. Especially his dearest little sister. This is a side of him that no one else got to see.

They are staying the month, and while Margaery has been knee deep in political affairs abroad, she's ever charming and demure here. Still there seems to be some awkwardness when he enters one of the rooms she's been staying in, half dressed no less. She pays no mind of it, but the following evening when she's alone in one of the studies and he enters and then readies to leave, Margaery tries to stop him.]
