Gabriel probably shouldn't be so pleased that Jack was willing to push people out of their living space for his benefit, but he thought it was great. "I really would look like a balloon, then," he said, with a small smile.
He settled quietly into the kiss, feeling far more content. "No gloomy castles. You know the city better, you have the better ideas. Right now, anyway. Maybe in a lifetime or two we can give a castle a try. Pretend to be vampires and scare the neighbors." Gabriel wiggled his fingers, chuckled, and settled back in his chair.
He kept his hand on Jack's, just feeling the air in between them for a few moments. He wasn't used to feeling like he wanted to settle somewhere. The contentment was fairly new, too (if not just a little bit forced). He knew some of this was the situation and some was the emotional bond. It still felt strange and new.
"Is there anything you want, out of a place to live?" he asked Jack, unsure if it mattered much to him. He wanted Jack to be happy. What Gabriel wanted the most was a happy family, even if theirs was kind of thrown together. But Jack had been right- he really didn't seem like the stay-at-home type. "Nice views, big kitchen- I am going to learn to cook, you know....quiet area? Anything sound nice to come back to?"
