The Superhero's Significant Other Meme


You're just an average Joe (or Joanna, as the case may be). You live a normal, unassuming life and go on with your day-to-day business. There is, however, one thing about you that is a little unusual - beside your sparkling personality.

You're dating a superhero.

So, what's in this week's issue? Are you childhood friends come together? Do you actually know your love is that caped crusader? If you do, is it a thorn in your side that you will always come second to the cause? Of course, there's always going to be that annoying time where they try to "protect" you by breaking up with you. Oh joy. Well, at least, how's your sex life? Surely those super powers can make for some interesting bedroom trysts. Maybe after one of them, you can tell your beau that you're a superhero, too.

...but what if your significant other isn't the hero? What if they're the villain?

[ Well, when then they it was the late show, it was a late show. Shiki and Dick decided to catch a late movie in on of Somni's movie houses that night. They haven't had a proper date in a while with Shiki busy with her shop and Dick doing his superheroics plus classes on the side so this outing was a nice break for the both of them. The movie was enjoyable but she couldn't help but yawn during the movie and after the two of them got out of the theater. She reached out, holding on to her boyfriend's arm as she rested her head on his shoulder. ]

Hnnn, sorry! [ She chuckles, nuzzling him. ] The movie wasn't boring; you're not boring! [ Oh god no ] Just [ yawn ] tired, heh. [Ironic coming from a girl who lives off pulling all-nighters when she has a deadline for her little boutique.]

No, the movie was boring. I mean, they telegraphed that Bethany was the killer so far in advance you could practically set your watch by the summation.

[It was days like this that made Amelia wish she wasn't such a slave to her morals. She could never see herself doing anything deplorable of course, but due to being so compelled to good and unable to ignore even the slightest misdeed was a crutch when trying to just have a normal day to day life. Then again it would look rather suspicious if the towns newest superhero Justitia didn't respond to a bunch of criminals attempting to break into a jewelry store right in the middle of her territory.]

[No, Justitia would of course be on the scene, making the villains halt in their tracks before getting into a brawl to take them all down. No, the problem was with her civilian identity, who at the time of the robbery was supposed to be on her way to meet her boyfriend who lived just a few blocks away. Needless to say that having to hurriedly get into costume, make an epic speech about Justice and then get into a fight with a bunch of goons took time, which she was running out of.]

[Another punch, a sharp turn of the head as she dodged a strike, glancing down in that split second at the watch on the crooks wrist. Darn it she was running late!]

[Hopefully after another few hits the thugs would go down and stay down, and in that brief window of time where she'd have to change back into her normal clothes and rush down the street to Tetsuo's place she'd have come up with a good reason for her tardiness, preferably not one she had already utilized. She was a bad liar at the best of times, and stretching her capabilities much more to try and make some more outlandish excuse sound believable might even make her sweet but sometimes dense boyfriend suspicious.]

[Little did the heroine know that she'd have to test how quick she was to think on her feet sooner than anticipated, and all because her frustration had built so much she shouted a little too loudly as her fist came into contact with a crooks jaw.]

[Tetsuo had never really needed an excuse to get in trouble, but being the last representative of the Hungry Wolves gang--having turf to protect from much nastier gangs--gave him one that just make him more stubborn.

Amelia's only real warning was the likely familiar sound of a motorcycle revving nearby, followed by the squeal of skidding tires. As usual, those sounds accompanied Tetsuo cornering sharply onto the street where she was in the middle of her fight, grinning like a maniac. Whether she needed the help or not, she was apparently going to get it as Tetsuo twisted his bike around, powersliding into the melee and crashing the rear wheel into one of her opponents; in the same motion, he brandished a three-foot length of pipe, and swung it at another one.

She was also going to get a reminder of what a pottymouth he could be, as much as he made a valiant effort not to offend his upscale girlfriend.]

OI, ASSHOLES! PACK TH'FUCK UP OR GET FUCKED UP! Don'cha worry, 'nechan, I gotcher back!

[That low rumble like thunder, the growl of the engine revs, the sounds that normally had her trying to hold in her excitement at their approach now made a chill run up her spine for all the wrong reasons. Through the mask she gaped in horror as he crashed into the fray. Lucky for her he was such a good driver and she didn't need to get out of his way, as currently she found herself fixed to the spot. His foul mouth is what brought her back to her senses, considering how much he tried to tone it down around her. Suddenly she remembered why she was here, and now what was at stake.]

Tets-...! [She bit her tongue, swallowing the words as she tried to regain composure, biting back her fear and channeling it into another hard punch.] W-What do you think you're doing?! Get out of here, this isn't your fight!

[The worst part of all this? Trying to sound assertive, as her hero persona would when trying to deter a civilian getting mixed up in her bouts, but knowing deep down from all the time she had spent with biker that he would not walk away from a brawl. She'd just have to end this quickly, and be a bit more brutal than normal. As such, she was forced to show off that enhanced strength of hers, lifting a nearby dumpster and holding over her head, ready to toss as she glared down the thieves.]

If you know what's good for you, you'll surrender now, or I'll make sure you all have one nasty headache tomorrow!

[Tetsuo gave his length of pipe a twirl, grinning fiercely as the criminals quickly backed down under threat of a freaking dumpster being thrown at them. ...of course, he was totally oblivious, since he was focused on them, so he just saw them looking scared and yielding at roughly the same time as his threat. With no shortage of pride, he let the pipe rest against his shoulder.]

Heheh, that's right! Ya don't fuck with th'Hungry Wolves! ...oi, you a'right back there, 'nechan?

[Of course, he knew to keep his eyes on the crooks she'd caught, so he wasn't about to look back at her just yet.]

It's alright, no problem. Worth the wait, still lots of fun.

[Needless to say, she had to hold in a heavy, exasperated sigh at that. Well, probably for the best to let him feel good about it. She knew he missed the glory of his gang days so she supposed it wasn't so wrong to let him enjoy this a bit. Thus she did not correct his mistake.]

Yeah...fine. Um, just wait a moment while I restrain them, just in case they try to run.

[Dropping the dumpster, the heroine rounded them up and secured every one of the thugs, just as the sirens blared and a police car arrived to take them away, the officers offering a salute of appreciation for a job well done. Okay they looked a little weary at Tetsuo given his record but Justicia being there persuaded them not to pry further. Once they were out of sight, Amelia let relief was over her, only to realize she wasn't out of the woods yet. No, not until she was out of sight and back in regular clothes, pretending she had just run late in meeting her boyfriend.]

Well...thank you for your help citizen, but I ought to get going now...

[Of course, once the police arrived, Tetsuo was about 50 million times more irrepressibly smug. Any chance to have cops owe him one and rub it in their faces was a great chance, to him. ...not that they actually owed him anything in particular, but that was hardly the point. Once they departed with the badguys in custody, though, his attention turned back to "Justicia."]
