The Starbucks Meme!



Everyone's been to a Starbucks. You stand in line, you give your order, you shuffle off to the coffee bar to wait for the barista to call your drink along with everyone else. Sometimes you listen as they call other people's drink orders. Who orders a triple shot chai nonfat latte with whip cream anyway? Or maybe you think it's boring to order a tall mocha. Maybe you like to make the most complicated, most customized drink possible. Or maybe you're just gonna try to steal someone else's drink.

There's a lot to do waiting for your coffee, and there are people all around you doing the same. Maybe they're the person who gives their name as Chuck Norris. Or they're judging your drink. Maybe they're that guy who tries to flirt with the barista and holds up the line. Or maybe you both got the exact same drink and there'll be an argument about whose drink it was.

All kinds of things can happen when you're uncaffeinated and waiting for your fix.

So, enough talking. How do you play?

Instructions!
1 - Post a comment with a drink order in the subject line. Post anon, and the barista shouting the order is anonymous (unless someone who tags you wants to be the barista). Post un-anon, and your character is the barista in question shouting the order.

2 - Tag around! Does your character think someone else's order is too complicated/not complicated enough? Are they trying to score a free drink by picking it up first? Do they try to strike up a conversation with the person whose drink it is?

3 - Get caffeinated! Bounce off the walls!

[ Sherlock notices the drink is a favourite of his flatemate's, John Watson. With a slight tug of his lips in an amused smile, he reaches for the drink first, even though it isn't his. After all the work he does, solving cases, he deserves something he can actually use, instead of the silly gifts people insist on giving him.]

[He looked up, puzzled. He was waiting for the order - that they'd written as 'Caruso' - of "coffee, black" to be called out. But what the hell was that? Half of it sounded like a drink, the other half sounded like the case he was working on. He sighed, rubbing his brow, leaning on the counter in his rumpled coat]

[You know, locating a Starbucks near to his pond was, really, a mistake. But the damn things got everywhere, didn't they? And they'd left the door open. And something smelled good.]

[So he wandered out of the water, stomping clean in the front door. The first thing he sniffed - amongst the chaos, which he really didn't care about - was...fruity. And something else. Whatever. He bit down on the cup, flipping it back to drink it.]
