YOU ARE DEAD PRESS ANY KEY TO CONTINUE So as it turns out, you've died. Maybe you died violently. Maybe it was a freak accident. Maybe it was old age. It could have been any reason - but the point is, you're dead now, and your friends have come to mourn; your enemies have come to celebrate. The worst part of death isn't the one passing, after all - it's everything they left behind. 1. Post your character. Name/series go in the header. Method of death/canon point/etc can go in the body, if you'd like. 2. Leave your thoughts on people. What did you think of them? How did they affect your life? Was this person important to you? Maybe they didn't matter a lot, but you need to say how you felt. 3. The starting character responds to these thoughts from the afterlife; have fun with it!

It is not so much that John Watson's death is merely upsetting. No, spilling tea on one's shirt is upsetting. Listening to Anderson bleat on without stop is upsetting. John Watson's death is something else. It's something visceral and nearly physical.

He doesn't attend the funeral. He doesn't call Harry or Mrs. Hudson or anyone. He stays in the flat, circling articles he's laid out on the floor in a shape very like how the cleaning lady found John's body in that anonymous hotel. There's no point in pretending to be dead, now. The only person who was destined for death if Sherlock came back was dead, now.

Suicide, the papers said. Suicide, Mycroft said. No, it couldn't be. It couldn't. It was murder, it had to be murder. John was too strong for suicide. It wasn't like him. He held Sherlock together during bad times, it would be a cinch to hold himself together after Sherlock's faked death. Sherlock could remember, before the Fall, staring at his box of drugs and thinking that he couldn't because that would upset John. A man with that sort of influence couldn't possibly kill himself.

The evidence---it was too perfect. It fit into suicide so well, down to the notes from John's therapist. If it was anyone but John---if it---

Sherlock's knees buckle and he just about catches himself on John's chair. Stopped from falling by his friend again. But it isn't John because John is gone and---and---there's a blame and it's been placed, he can tell by the silence in the flat and it doesn't matter because John isn't and he should be---

Sherlock doesn't cry, but he understands why someone might want to.

He thinks John would consider that enough.
