Well, all he'll do is yell at me. [Bass doesn't particularly want to deal with that level of agitation, but he doesn't want Jeremy in trouble for something he did, either. That's not fair.]

Yeah, probably best. I don't want to get you in trouble 'cause I had an impulse. [Clearly, he's not even pretending he's in charge right now.]

Maybe we could send Tom on a mission where he'll be gone for a long time.

Oooh. I like that. We could send him after Ben, maybe. Or, idk. Out to the front. Call it a promotion...?

Insubordination. I mean, not to my face, or I'd have him in the brig. In the gym. He didn't know I was there. [And he's cranky about that, too. Fine. He's the President. But he needs to train and Miles sucks at sparring, and everyone else is afraid to hit him.]

[He's not afraid of sparring with you. But he was probably off doing something Miles had decided he needed to do.]

To what? Kill him? [He wasn't thinking about the sparring so much, not aware it was probably that obvious that he couldn't get a reasonable fight out of anyone, which fucked up his own training.]

There is that. However, I was meaning the gym.

...Oh. Well, that would've been a lot more fun, but probably not stopped Tom's apparent opinions about my fitness for leadership. Though if I could get HIM in the ring, he might sing a different tune. [He knows, after all, how Tom likes to think of himself as a boxer. Bass knows he's better. It's possible Tom needs reminding of that fact.]

Maybe that's what you should do instead.

He can't really turn me down if I ask, can he? Beating him to a bloody pulp might be even more satisfying... [It pretty much shut up anyone who made comments when they were in the Marines. Then again, after most people went to war with him and Miles, they didn't really care what they did to get off--there was no doubt they were amazing in battle and had their squad's backs. That was all that really mattered to real warriors, not wannabes with things to prove like Tom.]

No, sir, he can't turn you down if you ask him to join you in the gym. Then you can do whatever in the hell you want and no one can say a word. Not even General Matheson.
