❝Best Friends to More❞ Everyone needs a friend, no matter if you want to admit it or not. It's nice to have a shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold, a mind to compliment yours...or an ear to whisper terrible and rude things into, if the case may be. Whether you're bosom buddies since way back or people who were forced together and are only lately tolerating each other, you're - relatively - thick as thieves with this person. No one is closer to you than them (which could be pretty sad, all things considered). The problem? Somehow, platonic feelings have morphed into ones that are decidedly more complicated. But hey, isn't it natural you'd want to be even closer to them? Somehow, someway, these feelings have come bubbling up, through calculated confession or through accident. That cat can't be put back in the bag, so you'll have to face the consequences. Are the sentiments shared by both parties? Will you want to keep your relationship status as "friends," or will you want to become more serious? What happens if it gets awkward between you two - can't you just go back to how you were? If anyone asked Usagi if she and Sousuke were more than friends she would have laughed and agreed. They weren't just friends, they were best friends! While their friendship began only months ago, the blonde felt a strong bond between them. Anything else beyond that was dubbed silly by her. There was nothing else going on between herself and Sousuke....at least not to her knowledge.

Though, deep down she was starting to wish something was going on. Over the past few weeks she noticed how happy she got whenever she saw him, even in passing. Or how fast her heart began to beat whenever he gave her a smile. Those dreamy blue eyes of his combined with that smile would make any girl melt and Usagi was starting to fall for it. She told herself she was being silly and the idea of a romance with Sousuke (as dreamy as it sounded) wasn't going to happen. He only saw her as a friend as well as a klutz so there was no need to push her luck.

As hard as she tried to get those thoughts out of her head they continued to swim around, distracting her as she got ready and went to school. It wasn't until the first lesson began that she realized she had forgotten her lunch.

Today was going to be a very, very long day.

Okay, so they'd just gone from 'best friends' to 'best friends with benefits' in a moment of slight weakness on Loki's part. That was okay, right? That was totally okay. He could deal with this and he could do it without making it seem like his priorities have shifted a bit. At least, that's what he told himself until he faced Billy again. He'd been completely prepared to tell the spellcaster that that hadn't meant anything. That while it had been freaking fantastic, and quite honestly the best experience of his very long life, not simply because the sex had been good, but because it had been with Billy and he'd felt some kind of connection. More so than with any other partners... wait, what was his point again? Oh right, trying to end this before it started. Except, he couldn't seem to find a rational reason for it apart from fear.

He cornered the wizard in the hallway outside his bedroom aaaaand that silver tongue of his did in fact turn to lead. He opened his mouth to try but nothing came out. He looked away, then back, and held up a finger in a 'just a moment' sort of way. He stepped back out of view and then re-approached once more in an attempt to regain his confidence. Yeah, didn't work like he'd planned. So Loki rubbed the back of his neck and looked away again.

"Kaplan, we should... talk." With their mouths. Mouths not on eachother. With words! By the Old Gods! He was just glad Billy couldn't hear his inner turmoil.

Billy couldn't keep the amusement off his face as he watched Loki pace before approaching him and then pause, walk away, and come back. A flustered Loki was never not funny.

"Talk?" Billy asked feigning innocence. He knew exactly what Loki wanted to talk about, and he knew exactly what Loki was going to say. 'it was fun but it was just that, fun. It's not like we could be anything more.' He wasn't stupid, but he also really didn't want to hear it. Somewhere along the line tolerating him lead to being friends, lead to being best friends and Billy would be lying if he said that also hadn't lead to more.

"Yes, that thing we do with our words. It usually leads to ideas or denouncing of ideas and I think that's something we need right now." Smart ass Loki will always be a bit of a smart ass. "The denouncing, I mean." He shifted awkwardly and leaned against the door frame to feign a casual atmosphere when he was actually more chaotic than he has been in a long time.

"We... I mean... That thing... We can't." Yep. Lead. Where is your eloquence, Loki? "It was a one-time thing. Novelty. --Amazing novelty, but it can't happen again. I'm--Kaplan, we can't." Since when did they become 'we'? "You..." He sighed heavily and ran a hand through his raven-coloured hair. "deserve better. Someone who can love you. Someone who can care for you. Someone who isn't destined to destroy the multiverse."

Billy rolled his eyes. See, exactly what he though Loki would say. "Haven't I told you that just because your people think you're going to destroy the multiverse doesn't actually mean you will, not if you don't want to. Besides, how do you know I won't destroy the multiverse?"

He took a step closer to his friend, almost trapping him in the doorway. "Don't I get a say in this?"

Billy had been anticipating his words, not that he could blame him. Kid was sharp. That was one of the reasons Loki liked him so much, but he was also as stubborn as an Aesir.

"You don't understand. Gods don't have a choice over their own fate. We can't change and we can't avoid it. Even knowing our fate steers us towards it. Every action we take to change it just paves the way to the destiny we are trying to avoid." He couldn't change. He wanted to change so desperately, but even this last stint at salvation on Midgard was going all the wrong places. Billy had drawn him out of his self-destructive slump, but now he was corrupting the mortal.

When Billy trapped him in the doorway, Loki couldn't help but want him closer. Rather than run like he should, he wanted to give in. "You won't destroy the multiverse. If anything, you'll be the one to fix it after I ruin it. You're my..." Opposite? Neutraliser? "my salvation." That was not what he meant to say! "No. Anything you say will break--" But he didn't finish the sentence. Instead, he looped an arm around Billy's waist and pulled the wizard against him, going to capture his mouth in a kiss. Way to go, Loki. You suck at this.

He was so ready with a come back, because this wasn't the first time they had had the discussion about changing his fate. What he wasn't expecting was for Loki to call him his salvation or to suddenly find the other boy's lips on his again. Well he wasn't about to complain about these turn of events.

He le rapped one arm around Loki's shoulders, drawing them closer together and kissing him harder. He knew Loki would come to his senses any minute and the argument would start all over again. He was determined to show him what it was he could have, if he just gave in.

He sunk into the kiss, wanting to get lost in it. It would be so easy to do, but that was the very reason he couldn't. Well, not completely. He matched Billy's kiss with equal fervour, his other hand braced against the back of Billy's head. His fingers played through the dark locks, utterly enjoying the feeling of the silky dark hair through them.

They'd both had this argument countless times and they both seemed to hold their ground. Except, right now, Loki just didn't have the willpower to argue anymore. At least while his tongue was busy. He held their hips snug together, allowing Billy to dictate his movements as he was urged closer by his shoulders. But then he tried to pull back, nipping and sucking on Billy's lip. Whether Billy let him actually get away was another story all together. He was still pinned to the door frame for all intents and purposes, giving him little to no room to escape.

Billy bit back a groan when Loki tried to pull back. Billy leaned forward trying to chase after his lips but Loki moved too quickly. That didn't stop Billy from staying exactly where he was, pressing Loki against the doorframe. If Loki really wanted to get away he could, Billy weighed nothing more than a toothpick to him, the fact that he was letting Billy pin him said a lot.

"You're argument loses something when you start kissing me in the middle of it. You realize that right?"

Loki licked his lips and looked up from Billy's lips. It took him a moment to realise the young Avenger had said something at all. In all honesty, he didn't want away. He knew he could easily free himself if he tried, but he didn't. And that did say something. Probably a lot more than Billy realised.

"It just proves I'm the evil temptation that you need to overcome." Yeah, that was totally what it was. Yep. Don't question it. "See? Already evil. Leading poor wizards down the wrong path." His eyes drifted again, back down to Billy's lips. Damn, that kiss hadn't been near enough...

"Oh right because you're showing me all the evils of kissing," Billy rolled his eyes again before leaning back in. If Loki wasn't going to stop him then he might as well enjoy it. He kissed him again picking up right where they left off, pulling him close again.

He'd been about to argue something about the evils of kissing a god outside his religion but Billy's lips were back and his mind went blank. Seriously, what the Hel is this mortal anyway? Loki doesn't stand a chance.

Loki kissed him back, nudging to deepen the kiss. He easily shifted away from the door frame and walked them into Billy's room. A flick of his wrist with a hint of magic shut the door behind them. No pesky brothers were going to find their way in to harass them right now or he just might teleport them to the breathable side of the moon.

He was surprisingly okay with Billy's display of dominance. And Loki didn't give up control for anything. So, he didn't fight it.
