It's a thrill when Mink comes back, nerves and hope and a sense of being utterly disgusting all pumping through Aoba's veins so hard, he still feels vaguely like he's floating, or like he might implode at any time. He doesn't look up again, eyes trained on Mink's boots, instead. He already doesn't have enough courage to say... whatever it is he wants to say; if he looked up at Mink's face, he'd never say a thing.

Maybe he wants more approval; maybe it's the exact opposite, and he wants to force Mink to leave him there as he is.
