4. In the water. Hopefully there aren't any sharks!

Hiro was the genius in the family. Despite being younger than Tadashi, he was the real genius. But that was okay, because he was proud of his little brother. But right now, he wasn't the one having to look out for Hiro. The tables had definitely been turned.

Trying to sit up, he groaned a little. "Hiro...? I'm fine. I just... hit my head. Who's the bonehead now, huh?" He laughed a little, but it turned into a grimace. "Whoa. Is the world spinning for you, too?"

"Don't move!" Hiro said, concerned. "Just... stay there. How hard did you hit your head? Do you think you have a concussion? How many fingers am I holding up?"

And now he's babbling. He felt useless and stupid, and why was he gifted with all those smarts when he couldn't use them when he needed them? What did you even do for someone who hit their head? Don't move them (No, that was for spine injuries), call 911 (Was it serious enough for that)?

((Unfortunately my google-fu has failed me on how exactly an x-ray goes, only that it doesn't take long, so let's handwave that part?))

When the procedure is done, Sam is looking through the images on a tablet.

"Well, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with your bones, so it probably is just a sprain." He smiles over at Ash, and holds out the tablet. "Would you like to see the pictures?"

Pikachu agrees and hops up next to Ash while the X-Ray is being taken.

Ash can't help but sigh in relief when he hears the news. Sure, a sprain is still bad, but at least he'll be able to get back onto his feet much sooner than if he broke something. He couldn't imagine just sitting around not being able to travel for weeks.

"That's great!" He then blinks and takes a hold of the tablet. "Uh.. sure. I'll take a look."

He looks at the moment before looking at the Professor again. "This is my foot, right? What exactly is it showing?"

[ and it's a poor choice, in kuja's opinion. not to say that he's any sort of expert when it comes to close relations with other sentient beings, but he's relatively sure that zidane is abnormal even among his peers, for doing something like this. kuja still isn't sure how he feels about it, and it's still too soon to figure out, too soon to untangle this knot.

so he's happy to veer the conversation away once more from what it continues inevitably return to. his mouth snaps open to snarl some barbed comment about the state of the food in a place like this, but something halts him, brings him to bite it back. maybe he's just too tired to argue anymore, or maybe it's something else. it doesn't matter. kuja shakes his head, exhales slowly. ]

Just fresh bread should be fine. I'm not particularly hungry.

Sam stands up again. "I'll have to wrap your foot to keep your ankle immobile while it heals. Would you like some pain medicine?"

"...Huh. I never knew there were so many bones." He looks at them a bit more. Wow, he must have been very lucky to not have broken a single one.

"How long do you think it'll take to heal? And... yeah I guess so."

[Well, that makes two of them with a soft spot for apple pie - even though, honestly, her soft spot tends to be hit by any and all sweets whatsoever... still, apples are best - near and dear to her heart. For obvious reasons.

And honestly, if bad luck nets you healing apple pies, it can't all be bad, right? It's just awful that it has to come with a little bit of pain. Still, she'll make you an apple pie anytime! It doesn't necessarily have to be because something ridiculous has happened, yet again, and you end up on the wrong side of healthy.

Mothers... yeah. They can both stay off of that topic, for now. That's a good thing. She's smiling, too - not quite as forced, especially since she's lighting up at the prospect of seeing new books on alchemy! A different kind of alchemy, even!]

Laon goes to hop unto the bed when Hiro gave the order in her mind to turn off the lights. Her spot, come and get her balloon man. At once she goes to pull out her claws to start licking them clean. Believe it or not, she is just a little vain of her claws and tails. Which is why despite being covered in blood, her tails are still sparkly clean.

"Wouldn't you go to sleep with the lights off?"

"Your feet and hands have many small bones for flexibility -- they wouldn't work as well with a smaller number of large bones. At your age, you should have about..." He pauses to think while taking down the bottle of medicine. "...250 or so in your whole body? Around there, maybe a little more."

Sam comes back to Ash's side, the material he needs to wrap his foot in one hand, and two pills along with a shot glass of water in the other, which he hands to Ash.

"You should be able to walk on it again within a couple of days, but it'll take weeks to return to its normal strength."

[Giovanni watched the other at work, curiously observing what he could see and wondering about what he couldn't. The intangible part of magic had not ceased to amaze him yet--he had only recently been introduced by it, and instead of being afraid he was more intrigued by it than anything else. "I don't have to wait weeks before I can travel and train with my Pokemon again, do I?" Even a couple of days doesn't sound very fun and Pikachu doesn't seem to like the idea of waiting so long either.
