Astrid, you might want to pull up any time now. Maybe, right now.

[ That's the thing about ice-cream trucks that roam around spilling tinkling tunes which gain the interest of dragons, they're never very fast and said beasts are always incredibly eager to catch up with a huge box of treats. Who knew sugar would agree with giant fire-breathing lizards so well? Apparently, not the driver of the truck in question, currently being preyed on by one of the best tracking dragons out there.

Not that this city has any dragons bar theirs, but. The point stands.

Hiccup steers Toothless over the roads seamlessly, his attention fixed on Stormfly and her rider ahead. Toothless, at least, understands he can't just knock over whatever he wants and gobble up the interior (now, anyway), but the Nadder only seems to be gaining speed. The boys swerve a set of traffic lights, a plethora of angry beeping and yelling in their wake as Hiccup yells an apology or three over a shoulder before leaning forward again. ]

What!? I'm trying!

[Astrid normally had good control over Stormfly. Usually. Until it came to sweets and treats. That's when Astrid's normally talented training skills became entirely useless and the dragon became wild again, hence why she looked like a mad woman on a dragon on the road at this point.]

Stormfly, stop! [Yelling didn't result in much, the Nadder's ears suddenly deaf to any words her trainer had to say. The only choice she was left with was to pull on the reins of the saddle, hoping it might halt the dragon to a stop, but with the impeccable speed they were already flying at, it would be anything but immediate, as even during their very gradually slowing stop, the ice cream truck ahead seemed to be getting closer and closer.]

[ Urging Toothless on ahead with his greater speed, Hiccup leans into view of the driver's side of the van. ]

Hey! You need to turn off your — [ Seeing less of Hiccup than the beady eye of a huge dragon, the driver screams and puts his foot down. At this rate, someone's going to get hurt. ] Crap. Toothless, pick up that thing!

[ Twisting around to call to Astrid as the Night Fury clamps his claws onto the roof and hauls the vehicle into the air, Hiccup sets a course for the nearest tree. ]

[ If they can stick the thing in a stationary position where it can't keep driving them on a wild goose-chase, that'll be vastly preferable. So, Astrid will need to track the dragon carrying a musical ice-cream van, yes.

It's too hot for this Run For The Hills hoo-hah. ]

[Toothless taking the van up in the air is certainly a life saver, preventing any major accidents of the giant-Nadder-crashing-into-ice-cream-truck sort. Managing to slow Stormfly down to a reasonable speed, the sigh of the sudden flying musical vehicle has the dragon squawking in confusion as Astrid is determined to take control again.]

Stormfly, no! I promise you'll get a treat, but calm down, okay!? No fetching! Just chase!

[There's a squawk that indicates some sort of understanding in the communication. At the least, it has Stormfly following behind Toothless' trail, hoping without the goal of raiding the truck just yet.]

[ Sorry about this! yells Hiccup to the driver, the nearest tree with sturdy limbs nevertheless groaning in protest as the van is dumped in the midst of its branches. The wheels whir, thankfully to no avail, and Toothless rumbles curiously as the man inside all but drops out of the tree (in lieu of climbing) to sprint in the opposite direction, losing his jaunty hat as he goes. ]

We'll just leave this here for you, whenever you ... feel less mortally terrified and want it back. I promise we're not thieves! For what it's worth.

[ Landing on the grass, Hiccup dismounts and plants a hand on a hip as he stares up at the tree-stuck van, his attention swerving to Astrid and completely bypassing the way a certain Night Fury immediately stands on his hind legs to paw at metal doors. ]

How's Stormfly doing?

[Landing on the ground manages to be a success, Astrid giving a patting on the head to note her good work. She lets out a sigh in exhaustion, the chase having drained a lot of her, especially with her voice, strained from the constant shouting on the streets. When she feels assured, she stands from the saddle, lifting a leg over it to climb down the side.]

Fine now, I think. I don't understand, she's normally fine, but you bring up sugary treats and then suddenly she's--ahh!

[Upon seeing her dragon friend already reaching out for the truck, the Nadder gets a spring of jealousy, wanting to get some treats for herself as well, dashing towards the tree while her rider is still attempting to climb off. Luckily, Astrid's fall is broken by the convenient location of a certain one-legged pal who acts as a nice cushion underneath.]
