[Dancing? Really not his thing, ask Julia. He'd, painfully, learned the necessary steps to make it through The Dance at their wedding without destroying the god awfully expensive shoes she'd been wearing. That's about as far as that went. Still... she just looked so... melancholy.]

Not to sound cliche or anything but... what's a girl like you doing in a place like this? I mean. Drowning your sorrows is more of a local pub kind of thing, not a jazz kind of thing. And you might have the sorrows part down but I'm not seeing any drowning happening here.

[Dancing wasn't exactly her thing, either. Maybe once, long ago in some half forgotten time, but not anymore. The jazz had drawn her attention with it's lively sounds and upbeat feel, not for it's small dance floor. So, she'd tucked herself in against the bar, waved away the offer of a drink, and settled in to listen.

It was close enough to almost be familiar.

She'd almost gotten used to that feeling.

Or maybe not. Her mind wandered, following the notes of music and pouring over her endless mental notes and...and the voice at her back made her jump a little. She'd been staring off into space, hadn't heard him come up.

Sam would be laughing his ass off right about now.]

Oh. Umm...no, not drowning. Just listening, actually. A friend of mine is trying to broaden my musical tastes.

[From across the bar, with it's somewhat less than squeaky clean bar keep, she'd just been a face in the crowd. A sad one, but just one more citizen. Then she looked up and... well in a city full of history it would be hard not to recognize a national icon. He whistled softly, tapping out a smoke while he eyed her.]
