[Dara feels Scott moving again and yet she still somehow manages to be surprised when he's pressed his front up against her back, draping his arm around her middle and holding her close. She can feel his breath on the back of her neck, soft and warm, when he finally settles and stops moving. There's more to this than making sure he'll be able to fall sleep, it's obvious there is, but Dara, to her credit, doesn't question it. Maybe there's even more to it than making sure he's protecting her and she wouldn't know the difference.
What Dara does know is that, surprisingly enough, for the first time in a long time...Dara feels safe.
In spite of herself, Dara's hand moves to cover Scott's, fingers closing loosely around his until she's laced them together at her stomach. It's something she'll ignore and pretend never happened, once morning rolls around; all of it is, but secretly, she finds that she prefers it this way. His body heat against her is soothing. The steady rhythm of the rise and fall of his chest against her back and the same steady inhale and exhale against the back of her neck starts to lull her and Dara yawns, finally closing her eyes in an attempt to actually fall asleep, because she thinks she just might be able to, now.]
...stay like this for the night. [She pauses after she's finished yawning the words and snuggles herself back against him a little before settling, herself.] Good night, Scott.
