(Charles had had another day filled with drinking, lounging around in his dressing gown and not brushing his now long and knotted hair. Yes, this is how the great Charles Xavier now spends his days, wallowing in his own self pity. Who would have thought he would come to this? It was the middle of the day, getting closer to evening now and Charles got out his needle, injecting himself with the liquid that meant his legs would still function. Of course it also meant that he lost his powers otherwise he would have heard Raven and her thoughts outside his window right at the moment of injection. But he didn't.

Instead he injects himself, sitting on a chair beside his bed. He closes his eyes, resting it against the chair head as he waits for the injection to take effect. Unconsciously and almost without him noticing a single tear runs down his cheek and he whispers one word.)
