Mike knew his place. He waited to one side while the meeting went on, paying attention not to words but to actions and inflection. If anyone had designs on the Otori family, he would see it. Even if many of them thought of him as little more than an ignorant American. That worked to his favour. It meant he was constantly underestimated.
Only when everything adjourned did he move, and he moved to loom closer, using his size as a deterrent to anyone who might think this was an opportunity.

[Takes a deep breath. So, this is her first big job. No pressure! No pressure whatsoever. Besides, she's been training and fighting for years at this point. She's got this. Utena straightens her back, adjusts her tie, and walks into the next room, ready to start her assignment.]

[Utena isn't the only one a little nervous about this. Ruby never thought she'd need or have a bodyguard, but well one just walked through the door and she's going to have to deal with it.]

[Having grown up in a fairly insulated, comfortable family life before becoming a famous celebrity (along with his twin brother), Aoba's always been kept at a certain distance from conventional things. It results in most of his naivety -- although Aoba makes up for it with the magnitude of his personality. Even as a beloved pop star, it never once gets to his head, almost to a reckless degree. He'd blame it on how he was raised, but fame doesn't affect Aoba much.
Which is probably why he's assigned a bodyguard, right after he gets jumped by a huge crowd of male fans. He reaches a certain point in his career where he can't wander around alone without consequences.
Aoba is pretty sour toward Noiz in the beginning, because he doesn't see why he has to have some guy following him around whenever he's out by himself. But his feelings quickly warm up once he gets to know Noiz -- which happens because Aoba has a habit of getting people to open up in the most unconventional ways. Like making Noiz go to see dumb movies with him. And play videogames with him. And go out to eat with him. The boundary of professionalism starts wearing away, little by little.
When he starts to get flustered by Noiz's attention, Aoba's first thought is this is bad. But he can't really stop himself from seeing Noiz -- so, perhaps immaturely, Aoba begins to avoid him. Just until he doesn't feel so self-conscious around Noiz.
After another long concert, Aoba returns to his hotel room exhausted and makes a beeline for the shower. He leaves his clothes scattered over the floor on the way. He'll pick them up later... He's too tired to think Noiz will probably show up soon.]

[ Noiz has noticed the shift, and even more so as of late.
He had been employed as a valet for one of the large hotels that often hosts banquets and gala invents, so rubbing elbows with those several rungs on the ladder above him isn't unusual. However, he had never been in charge of a single person before, and at first, Aoba's bratty attitude did nothing for him. In fact, it made getting out of bed in the morning even more difficult than it already was. At first, he was opposed to Aoba's insistence of having to do something every single second, meaning that Noiz had to be there, too, to keep him safe, lest he not only lose a job but likely a civil suit.
The video games and the dinners lightened the mood and he stopped snapping at Aoba with cold, dead eyes. In fact, he even started to laugh, as rare as it was. It was a bit easier to go to work in the morning, finding it less a task and a burden and more of an amusement. Guarding Aoba wasn't a woe anymore and was almost entertaining. He still didn't understand how a single person could be so naive and innocent when drenched in fame and wealth, but he didn't pry. It wasn't like he didn't have his own prestige and money - it was just locked away, hidden, refused to be acknowledged by Noiz.
Tonight is one of Aoba's infamous concerts. Noiz hates these nights the most. Despite the fact that he rather enjoys Aoba's voice and the bands music, he doesn't enjoy the crazy fans that try to mob him. Every single time. While he's singing, while he's heading in, while he's at a table signing. Noiz has mastered the cold, dagger-stare, as he calls it. It scares most of them off. The piercings probably help.
When it's over, he heads to Aoba's room. He wants to make sure the dimwit has his door locked and everything he needs for the night. Naturally Noiz's hotel room is across the hall so he can keep an eye on Aoba -and be available for him if he decides he wants to head out... But still. He needs to check up on him.
