He hadn't meant to make him uncomfortable, but it was the common reaction to such topics and he's stopped trying to avoid it. What he doesn't expect is pity for it and he's glad at least that Aedan isn't trying to offer any. The sword has served him well and he'd carved his way to freedom with it, so it's hard not to feel some appreciation.

He settles into a chair beside the other man, absently picking at a bit of wax still clinging to the neck of his bottle with one finger. "But you're not incorrect- the sword is well made, regardless of its history. You have a good eye."
