[ Let it be known that Spock is absolutely fine missing another day of beating the Captain at chess if the Captain needs to catch up on doing his reports... except there's something about the excuse that doesn't sound quite right. As in, Spock suspects his Captain might be a terrible liar. Which of course brings up the question... what is he hiding?
And Spock has a gap in the evening where chess should have been. He plans at first to leave Jim to attend to whatever was important enough to lie to him for; then he remembers it's his responsibility to make certain the man doesn't get himself into too much trouble and he doesn't have complete faith that isn't what's going on here. He's also incredibly curious.
So Jim's door is going to be getting a buzz. Spock could walk in, he's got that sort of prerogative, but if this has anything to do with Carolyn Marcus... One has to pick their level of interruption wisely. ]
