eau d'pon farr, buy it now

Exposed to a Pon Farr inducing agent (either chemically created or a natural toxin) you are now forced to undergo a biological shift. You feel more aggressive, sexually unsatisfied and more than eager to take a mate. If you do not relieve the neurochemical imbalance with sex, meditation or engaging in a physical fight, you will go insane and die within eight days.

[They were lucky that they hadn't been killed on sight. As it was, Nyota knew from the moment she was tossed into the rather small and cramped cell that death would have been a preferable ending. What the Klingons would do to her, to Spock and Kirk, would be an unimaginable horror. Torture them, most likely.

She worried instantly when the Klingons dragged Spock and Kirk further down the hall and into another room entirely. That didn't bode well at all.

Apparently their hosts couldn't tell the difference between and augment and a regular human, or perhaps they simply didn't care enough to separate them because Khan was tossed into the same cell as her a few moments later.

The cell was so small that it was inevitable their bodies would collide. There was barely enough space to pace more then a few steps and she didn't relish sensation of having him pressed so close to her.

Khan wasn't looking too well either.

After an hour passed in relative silence, she heaved a small sigh and craned her head to glance back at him

[they'd attempted to find safe haven on qo'nos after marcus. that plan had failed miserably despite their offer to hand over starfleet weapons technology. they'd barely made it back to the vengeance and out of the system alive. after that, they'd nearly run into a federation patrol, and their last shot was romulus.

it was strange actually visiting these places after so long spent in cryosleep. the universe he'd grown up knowing was much larger than he had been taught to believe, and sometimes he had to wonder at the marvel of it.

when he wasn't on the run as a fugitive in a stolen starfleet starship.

things had been so tense as of late that jim didn't notice the change in khan. he had a lot of anger, who wouldn't after having your own family used against you for so long and then being forced to leave them behind, but this was different. the slightest things would set him into a fit of rage and jim had more than once walked into a destroyed room, and found khan trying to regain his composure.

jim didn't speak, even if the scene alarmed even him who knew more about khan except possibly the other augments, and khan usually stalked past with a small huff of irritation after he'd quelled his rage.

it doesn't take jim long to find him this time after the computer locates which deck he's on. once he exits the turbolift, he can hear the sounds of khan's rage being taken out on an unsuspecting lab or somesuch. rationally, he knows he should just leave him be, but he can't make himself turn around.

he gets to the door and surveys the damage already done with a grimace. the other man is just about to upturn something else when jim speaks up:]

He stepped back, not kneeling but leaning back against the wall so he could see all four walls and the door and her.
Defensive, fists drawn to his sides, clenched tightly. "Fine," he says, though gritted teeth. There's barely proper light in here, she may not notice the sweat streaked through his hair or the dampness through his uniform.

He's been injected with this before, it's not unfamiliar, but he hadn't expected that he would suffer through it again.
"I'll be fine," he repeats, insistently - as though she'd argued with him.

How did they know what hurt the most. Of course it didn't kill him, but it was bloody painful if he didn't fight or ... go through the motions.

Normally neither were problems for him, if - he were set loose, of course.

[He had to break it, had to had to or he'd implode on himself. Kirk. Kirk mustn't know. Mustn't know what he must have been drugged with by Marcus. He only remembered bits of those. Most of the ones he could isolate what it was had hurt - poisons or immunity to disease. What he thought this was. He couldn't take it. He'd implode, he'd kill something, he'd like nothing better than to fuck Kirk's brains out - if he didn't respect his second-in-command enough and knowing he'd probably hurt him. With another roar he smashes the table and trays of vials, not caring of their fizzing contents.]

[ Whatever it is they've been exposed to, for once it isn't affecting Rose, some random gene blocking the infection, the symptoms, whatever it is that unfortunately seems to have targeted the Doctor instead. She's watching him warily from a few feet around the otherside of the TARDIS' control console, dark eyes wide and observant and scanning carefully.

At first, her instant fear was that he would change again, that she'll lose another version of him when she's already so mad about him just the way he is now, but he assures her that won't happen, it isn't that serious and she's slightly mollified by that. He looks as though he's sweating, flushed even, which Rose has never seen before, and she tentatively takes a step forward, head tilted to the side, expression concerned. ]

[jim takes a step away from the fizzing and spitting contents of the now smashed vials, and it brings him further into the room from how far the vials had been flung by khan's outburst. this is, by far, the worst that he's seen him since the outbursts have started. he looks haggard, and jim doesn't know what to do.

he wasn't exactly high enough ranking to be briefed on just what makes an augment tick when he'd been ordered to hunt the other man down in their time. he'd say he was sick, but he's never known of that to actually happen. they're in a different time now, so he imagined it was possible. maybe he was exposed to something, or maybe---his fists clench and his fingernails dig into his palms---or maybe this was an effect from one of the many times marcus had taken khan away to experiment on him.

jim wasn't an idiot, and he knew what they were doing. the only thing that stopped him from making a scene out of it was the fact that khan would give him a look, a pleading one reserved only for him to remember what was at stake, and jim bit his tongue. he bit his tongue and tried to take care of the other man after they brought him back.

there was only so much he could do.

jim doesn't yell, but he does raise his voice to be heard above the din.]

Nyota was more then just a master of communications. She could also detect the tiniest nuances, emotions, and feelings just by registering tone and pitch of voice. It certainly came in handy when dealing with Spock and right now Khan was registering a high amount of tension and unease. Something she wouldn't have expected coming from a man willing to massacre Star Fleets top personnel.

She held her tongue for a minute or two before turning to full face him. Her hands on her hips, "You don't look fine. Are you ill?" No, that didn't bode well either. The Klingons would kill him at the first sign of weakness.

"If they so much as smell weakness on you, they'll kill you without question."

[Sweating is the least of his problems, every single one of his systems are going absolutely berserk, and The Doctor clutches onto the console like it's the only thing grounding him. The TARDIS is pressing concern in his head, not words or exact shapes, but his ship knows he's out of sorts, and even as they fly through the vortex, safe from the chemical warfare that had chased them off the previous planet. But not before affecting him of course. Of course. He hadn't even considered it, too concerned with ensuring that Rose not be exposed to the mind altering pheromones ("A mosquito!" He had announced when she had yelped and turned, a hand over her arm where he had administered the vaccine not a moment too late. "Slapped it for you. Should thank me, not give me that look.") to think for a moment that his superior Time Lord physiology would be particularly susceptible to it.

He groans as she speaks, one hand flying up to stop her from getting any closer. He couldn't take how close she was. Probably wouldn't be able to handle her scent even if she was half a planet away with the way his normally dormant hormones were raging. Every nerve screamed out for him to close the distance between them and take everything they've created between each other and flush it down the toilet. It looks almost as though he's fighting an invisible enemy, squirming in his skin as if taking blow after blow to the body. ]

NO! Yes. I mean, don't get any closer. Rose please, just stay there. No not even there, back up, back back back back back! Right there! Stay at least 100 feet from me at all times. It's alright, I can isolate the chemical affecting me and -Hngnnghhh- MAKE IT ALL BETTER.

[his breath is coming faster. god, kirk is too close. so close he can smell him, sweat and ship-issue shampoo wash, but ... it's sweet and kirk's lips and ... no, you'll kill him, stop. he tries to take another breath, just to catch it, to draw oxygen into his lungs to clear his head better, even if it doesn't properly work.

he grits his teeth angrily. the last thing he wants to do is leave his second-in-command. or worse, kill him. which he will if they fight. or he decides kirk is his. bonds - always made things more complicated. he'd watched that with his crew, with everyone that had decided they wanted each other - or to share. to khan, neither mattered. the culture of the times wasn't particularly relevant, especially with all the literature he'd read.
]

Kirk, leave.

[he picks up a piece of one of the still mostly whole vials, unopened.]
I just have to wait...
[he needs a breath though, more oxygen - it feels like there isn't enough.]
for it to pass. It's ...nothing, alright? You mustn't worry.

[there's his, "that's an order" tone, again. then he's clenching his teeth, feeling like his insides are burning from the inside out - and no. that isn't unfamiliar either. it's clearly an expression of pain that he's trying not to show.] It should pass soon.

[ She's absolutely staring at him, jerking to a stop when he starts shouting at her to step back, all of those levels of concern launching about a hundred levels up. It looks as though he's writhing in pain, and it's even more manic than the Doctor usually is, and her hands are raised up defensively, as if she's a criminal caught in the headlights. But only for a moment or two and then she's ignoring him ( how unusual ) and stepping closer again, reaching out to touch his hand gently, as if she could tether him back down from whatever it is that's causing this. ]

100 feet is a bit much, yeah? Is there anything I can do to help? [ Rose gives his hand a reassuring squeeze, though it's tentative, unsure if he's going to start rambling loudly again at any moment. The full effects of the chemical haven't exactly been explained to her, and when she had asked earlier, he had mostly brushed her question off in lieu of making sure she wasn't exposed. ] What's happening to you, exactly?

[She's not listening. Of course she's not listening. The Doctor can hear her walking towards him, those quick worried steps on the metal grating, but he can't get himself to move, blood singing with every inch she puts behind her. And then Rose is touching him, his perfect, brilliant Rose has her fingers running over the back of his hand, so hot and gentle, the most reassuring thing he he's ever felt in this universe is her hand around his. He groans, actually groans, a deep dark sound that vibrates in his chest as his eyes half close, and he's leaning towards her as if bewitched. He should kiss her. It'd be very very nice to kiss her. Perfect actually. Why hasn't he done it yet?

Oh that's right, because his hearts couldn't handle losing her if he did. That dark look in his eyes shift to that of panic as he realizes he's towering over her, and he sucks in a deep breath, breaking his hand from hers and digging it into his hair as he backs away from her quickly, breathing so quick he's surprised his respiratory bypass hasn't kicked in. ]

Yes. You could help by staying 100 -no- 200 yards away. No, actually just lock yourself up in some part of the TARDIS for about 6-er-10 hours. Don't tell me where. [ Rose's brain is about a hundred miles behind this conversation, focused on that sound he made and the way he's looking at her both like she's the most perfect being in the universe and like he wants to have her for dessert. It's a little hypnotizing, and she shuts up and just gazes up at him, mesmerized, the space between them growing smaller and smaller as he leans over her. She nearly thinks he's going to kiss her, very aware of where his gaze is lingering, directly on her mouth, which is still open and stunned.

And then he breaks that spell and dashes backwards, leaving her hand empty and her eyes just as wide, blinking a few times to shake it off. Did he just say her lips were perfect? She's in the middle of repeating that over and over in her head to make sure she's heard right, and then-- ]

Chemical Warfare.

[He squints his eyes shut, one hand still twined deep in his hair, pulling at the strands as if he was trying to uproot them. He speaks all in one breath, heaving in air afterwards as he leans against the railing on the far side of the room, eyes closed and lips parted as he tries to focus on metabolizing the chemical, even though the more he fights it the worse it's feeling.]

More humane kind, in a way, if you find using hormones to disable your enemy completely so that cutting them down is that much easier humane. It's a distraction, meant to slow you down, confuse you from your goals. I have so many goals Rose. Many involving you.

[He pauses again, then throws a bit of a temper tantrum, kicking at one of the coral pillars and cursing in an untranslatable language in horror of his loose lips.]

Really Rose, please! Just this once, can you just listen.
