caught in the rain
it started out quietly, and then, quite suddenly, you're caught in a storm. time to find cover. nothing much to do but to wait it out.

scenarios listed below for those who want 'em.

i. WHERE;
001 PLAYGROUND - well, you can try to hide under the slide or maybe in the jungle gym... at least you're some place fun?
002 PARK - always happens, caught outside trying to take advantage of the weather... and it ends up pulling a fast one on you.
003 STORE FRONT - better hope they have an awning you can take advantage of.
004 THE BEACH - not exactly the best place to be during a rainstorm, however it is possible to get caught in a sudden storm.
005 WILD CARD - anyway you want it.

ii. HOW;
001 TREE - not the best cover, but it'll have to do, stay close to the roots and you won't get too wet.
002 UMBRELLA - most conventional... kinda boring. But it works.
003 NEWSPAPER - not permanent, but it'll have to do. good luck.
004 BAG - well... y'gotta do what you gotta do.
005 NONE - you know what. you're a rebel. you don't need cover. screw convention.
006 WILD CARD - that's the way you need it.

iii. WHY;
001 REJECTED - welp. rejection sucks. and no one will see you crying in the rain.
002 WAITING - for the bus? for someone else? for some revelation? what are you waiting for.
003 MELANCHOLY - sometimes the best place to feel a bit down is out in the rain.
004 HAPPINESS - is everything going your way? are you singing a refrain while walking down the lane? just singin. singin' in the rain.
005 ANGER - WELL YOU KNOW WHAT. SCREW YOU TOO RAIN.
006 WILD CARD - anyway you want it.

[ It's only thanks to the fact that his instincts had calmed down during the war that Quatre didn't immediately jump to fight the skidding, white-haired stranger. As much of a pacifist as he claimed to be, he had still fought and he had learnt, and with that learning came the ability to fight when needed and a jumpy instinct. He's just thankful that he doesn't attack every person that walks by (mostly he just has to remind himself that they don't think he's a terrorist, they're not OZ, he's safe again).

At the question, the blond shakes his head and gives as much of a smile as he can muster up in a condition like this. Rain, apparently, also put a damper on his usual cheerful mood that seemed like it would never go away. ]

Of course I don't mind, even if it doesn't do a good job of sheltering. Have at it.

[ Once the rain begins to fall in sheets, Mordred is certain the downpour won't be easing up for some time. Glancing over once he stills his own horse, he looks over Arthur and then follows his gaze upward, eyebrows knitting together at the unforgiving sprawl of clouds, the sky dark and cruel looking in all directions. ]

My Lord. [ Nodding in agreement, he peers ahead, the land beyond them looking far too clear to offer any buffer from the rain. If his priority now is to keep the king as dry as possible, he has his work cut out for him. Clearing his throat, he tilts his head in the direction they had came. ] The forest is denser behind us, our best chance at shelter is there.

[It's not like they would be going to a fancy diner or anything. But Sasha does like this idea, bonding over food is the best thing ever.]

[Jack's lips stretch upwards. Optimist, huh? All right. He kind of likes the idea. But he glances skyward now, up through the canopy of leaves to what he can see, the part that's dripping on them.]

Yeah, I wasn't planning on this either... I mean, it's gonna snow tonight. But not like this.

[A little grin at her question, and he shrugged.] Just got into town. I've got plans for this evening, but until then I guess I was killing time. Soggily. Really soggily.

[Well, it was either that or 'a romantic' and that seemed to be too forward a thing to say to a guy she'd just met. Still, she's at least pleased he seems to be alright with her sense of humor, given she's a little hit-or-miss sometimes.]

Snow tonight? Really? Oooo, that'll be great weather after this rain...

[Nice and romantic too, and probably setting off lots of impromptu cuddling... Goodness, she was going to have her hands full as soon as it stopped raining. She realizes her enthusiasm might seem a bit odd though, and offers a sheepish sort of smile.]

Well, hopefully you'll dry off before... whatever your plans are. Probably wouldn't do to catch a chill from this if you've got things to do...

[Something she isn't really worried about-- though she wonders why he doesn't seem to be either.]

[The church - right. Shaun follows quickly, breaking into a light jog - they reach the opened building and step inside, and he lets out an irritated breath, pulling his glasses off and trying to find a dry bit of shirt to wipe them onto.]

Well, this has been lovely. I come up from underground for the first time days and the sky opens up on us. [He casts a glance out the still-open doors.] Doesn't look like it's letting up any time soon. Might as well make ourselves comfortable.

[That having been said, Shaun turns his attention to the interior of the church itself. It's a nice little chapel - exterior architecture suggests it's been here as long as everything else in this place, but the interior shows clear signs of restoration. The pews, for example, are certainly new. Shaun moves towards one, sits at the end, and sighs.]

[Thankfully the building is abandoned. And in this weather at this time of day, it's probably going to stay that way. After stepping inside the church and out of the rain, Desmond squeezes some water out of his hoodie before deciding to abandon the waterlogged piece of clothing. He pulls it off and hangs it over the back of one of the wooden pews.]

The heavens are just celebrating your arrival.

[With an exaggerated sigh, Desmond collapses next to Shaun on the pew. He'd really been looking forward to grabbing some food quickly and maybe sneaking a snack on the way back. Now who knows how long it'll be before they get anything new to eat?]

Or maybe someone up there really just doesn't want me to have those little plastic wrapped pastries I've been craving all week.

No, I'm not.

[ this is half a lie. there is some small, vindictive part of him that's happy she's not completely content to live her life without him. but the bigger part of him is hurt, and angry, and still wants her to be happy. ]

You know, you're lucky. If all that rot people spew about where the home is, I won't ever get a chance to be unhappy at home.

[ 'cause if all that's true, for the foreseeable future home will be her. if this break-up is permanent, he'll get over it eventually. throw himself even more into work until he wakes up one morning and discovered the ache has faded. but until that happens, he's more than a little bitter. ]
