[I am sorry to hear that, my child. She really is. She crawls over on her belly, ears drooping. It doesn't take much for the wolf to move her head up, attempting to push it into Rumi's hand.

[ rumi hadn't considered it, so used to petting tiger that she flinches, drawing her hand away. ]

Long ago, when demons roamed the lands, they would feed on souls. Souls of the living. And they would feed the demon king, Gwi-Ma. But eventually hunters arose. Singers and fighters. They fought the demons and wove a powerful magic over the world to keep the demons at bay. The Honmoon.

Every era has a trio of hunters. I'm one of them.

[Mm. So the demons are blamed for all evil in the world where you are from?

While Rumi recites the tail, images appear before her and Amaterasu, showing how the goddess is imagining the tale as ink paintings.

Since she hasn't seen a demon, she instead draws black figures that look like distorted baboons and Gwi-Ma looks like a giant red beast with a lions head.

...I feel like I am bringing shame to Koma-inu with this... She draws a circle around the demons and their master to represent the Honmoon. Interesting...in my world...eating the soul is considered a fast track to power...but it's like eating the tree when it's fruit will do. The only thing more short sighted is turning to blood...

She gives a shake as she stands, pulling herself out of thoughts. Forgive me...Part of my duty is to protect the children of men from the supernatural. Part of this is knowing how the beasts that mean them harm are born. I had hope having insight might help me help you, sweet girl.

I wouldn't say all evil. But they are hurting people. That's . . . what they do.

[That is not in doubt... but... if left without the king, would they decide to eat souls still, or are they merely following the biggest fish in the pond?

With out stronger monsters around, imps- She draws some more monkey looking creatures, but this time they have on little white masks. Are simply silly creatures, who at worse steal food and damage property. Just spirits of mischief and greed. A good thrashing and they stop.

Are the demons like that, or is it like the story of scorpion, who even when it's life is on the line, it cannot help but sting?]

If we had the luxury of doing so, we would have done it.

Would you take that risk? With people's lives on the line?

[I am both a goddess and a wolf. While I am Good, I also don't see things the way humans do. She hums, looking at her work. I will tell you that while I only give absolute mercy to humans, I believe that it is worth the risk for the right rewards on everything else. If I can have information on the enemy for simply sparing one wayward child, I see no harm.]

[And that's it. That makes Amaterasu laugh. A deep one that causes, for one moment, the sun to rise over the horizon and brightly alight the world around them before it all shimmers back to normal.

Don't worry. She's 100 percent just amused...though that is causing issues like fireworks going off near them and flowers sprouting everywhere.

Child, I repeat myself. You aren't wicked. Not a single hair or mark. Every bit is lovely and ideal. This is all a mark of being able to do great things. Show me the Buddha or god who says otherwise, and I will show you somebody really on the demons side.]
