Only 3 choices

FUCK*, MARRY, OR KILL
a game with a twist

You know the game: now, let’s dabble in a version that’s a little bit unusual.

how to play
○ Do the comment do.
○ Folks line up to say whether they would fuck* (*kiss, if your character's underage or you're not into R-rated dialogue), marry, or kill your guy.
○ Rinse. Repeat. ♾️

General.

[ stop teasing him!! ]

Rather than an explanation, perhaps you could give me your answer instead.

Oh, that one's easy. Marry also.

I see. Good that we agree. Hypothetically, of course.

Of course. I've remained a bachelor for all my years. Marriage isn't something I often think about.

[He's letting you off the hook, Dan Heng. For now.]

[personal profile] menhulu 2025-05-21 11:51 am (UTC)(link)
That's still hard for me to imagine. Surely you must know that there's no shortage of people who would line up for you.

.. though saying you don't often think about it suggests that you sometimes do.

[personal profile] snowlion 2025-05-21 12:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't trust a line made for me. People are attracted to power. If my title is all that matters, this line can find another.

I've thought about marriage before, certainly. Never very long, I'm afraid. My life is very full.

Is it something you think about?
menhulu: (141)

[personal profile] menhulu 2025-05-21 12:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm. I don't know that I've thought about marriage specifically, but.. companionship, sure.

You think that you're only sought after for your title? That people don't see your other merits?
snowlion: (pic#17848699)

[personal profile] snowlion 2025-05-21 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I simply wouldn't trust a line of prospects. I would rather get to know someone over time rather than auction off a date to the entire Xianzhou.

You said it best, Dan Heng. Companionship.
menhulu: (121)

[personal profile] menhulu 2025-05-21 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I'm sure that there are plenty of people interested in you for more than your power. People who would want to get to know you, to learn how kind and intelligent you are.

[ oh - ahem. ]

I just - I think you deserve companionship, if it's something you want.
snowlion: (pic#17848704)

[personal profile] snowlion 2025-05-21 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I think you're very kind yourself to say something like that. I can't say I've thought about companionship too terribly much either. I'm not sure what traits I would look for in someone like that. But kindness is certainly one of them.

[personal profile] menhulu 2025-05-22 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
[ dan heng shakes his head. ]

It isn't kindness, only observation. You don't know what you would want in a partner?
snowlion: (pic#17848699)

[personal profile] snowlion 2025-05-22 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
Not exactly. Kindness for sure, as discussed. I think I'd like to be around someone level-headed as well. I tend to be prone to too many flights of fancy.

At the same time I don't want to dictate who or what a person should be. I think if a connection forms I'd like to follow it.

What about you? Is there anything you're looking for?
menhulu: (28)

[personal profile] menhulu 2025-05-22 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
I feel the same way. As long as they are kind, the rest does not matter. I couldn't be with someone cruel or mean.

I suppose they would need to tolerate how often I hole myself up with the archives or books, as well.

There's nothing wrong with taking time for yourself. In fact, I think I might like to spend some quiet time with you sometime, reading. We don't have to only see each other during a crisis.
menhulu: (37)

[personal profile] menhulu 2025-05-22 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
.. I'd like that. I'll have to make time to visit more often.

Of course, you're also always welcome on the Express.
snowlion: (pic#17848704)

[personal profile] snowlion 2025-05-22 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
Then I'd like to visit. As long as you don't mind if I have to tend to business at times while on board.
menhulu: (35)

[personal profile] menhulu 2025-05-22 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Not at all. You can focus on your work while I sort through the data banks.
snowlion: (pic#17848718)

[personal profile] snowlion 2025-05-22 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
That sounds perfect. I'm glad you understand.

[What a wild first date.]

And when I'm done with necessities maybe I'll treat myself to some frivolous fiction. There's a series I'm currently reading about a detective solving a series of cases that get progressively more ridiculous. This current one involves a candy wrapper that someone threw away, but they now want it back, so they've hired the detective to retrieve it.

[ parallel play date.. ]

Oh? I wasn't aware that you enjoyed such works. [ he chuckles. ] I don't often read fiction, but I might have a few recommendations. I'll look through my collection.
snowlion: (pic#17848706)

[personal profile] snowlion 2025-05-22 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Such things are definitely an indulgence of mine. As far as fiction goes, I tend to lean toward stories that concern themselves with being entertaining above anything else.

But thank you, I'd very much appreciate it. I'd also be interested in your personal favorites. It doesn't have to be fiction.

Good to know.

[ he'll file that little bit of information away, for later. ]

As for my tastes.. I mostly read fiction and reference materials. Journals, articles.. it's rather dry, but I find it all interesting.
snowlion: (pic#17848699)

[personal profile] snowlion 2025-05-24 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
You don't have to sell yourself short by calling things that interest you dry. I enjoy reading older texts myself. Out of nostalgia, sure, but there's also something compelling about seeing where certain things came from and knowing where they are now.

Many would consider that dry or boring, but I don't. Choosing what to consume is a more personal matter than anything.

So when I make my way to the Express, I'd like to see these reference materials myself.

[ dan heng's mouth curves into a soft, muted smile. ]

It's kind of you to say so, General. I had not intended to put myself down, it just isn't what most find interesting. That said, I'd be more than happy to share my favorites with you, once you are able to stop by.
snowlion: (pic#17848722)

[personal profile] snowlion 2025-05-24 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd like that.

Unfortunately I have a little too much on my plate at the moment to take you up on that offer at the moment. What would you say to a week or two from now?
menhulu: (140)

[personal profile] menhulu 2025-05-24 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
A week or two would be perfect. That gives me a little time to make sure that the archives are in proper order, and the Express is cleaned up.
