FUCK*, MARRY, OR KILL
a game with a twist

You know the game: now, let’s dabble in a version that’s a little bit unusual.
how to play
○ Do the comment do.
○ Folks line up to say whether they would fuck* (*kiss, if your character's underage or you're not into R-rated dialogue), marry, or kill your guy.
○ Rinse. Repeat. ♾️

[The anger is there, simmering just beneath the surface, but more than anything he’s… disappointed. That he believed he was worth more to anyone - especially James - than just occasional help.]
Seemed like the missions were plentiful for a while there, weren't they? And now they’ve suspiciously dried up.
[He goes quiet, averts his eyes.]
I get it.

[Truth is, Zemo was lucky he got it at all. Bucky had to do a lot of talking to make that happen.
But that's not all of what this is about. Bucky got comfortable with Zemo being around. Maybe far too comfortable, and now Sam is done.]
It's complicated.

[Great. Now comes the moody silence. Zemo’s way of throwing a tantrum without making a spectacle of himself. Probably worse than any shouting from him could ever be.
Because what else is left to say, really? He knew the arrangement, yes, but who could blame him for wanting more? Thinking he had even the slightest shot at redemption?
He just feels foolish.]

I'm not gonna leave you in here to rot.
no subject
[If he were feeling any cattier, his arms would be crossed. But he can’t muster the give-a-damn to make it happen.]
Please make up your mind.
no subject
[He shouldn't be figuring anything out. This is always how it was meant to go.]
Sam and I aren't exactly on speaking terms right now, so it's been harder to arrange these things.

What happened with Samuel?
no subject
There was an incident. Something I stepped into with... some people. Because everyone was in danger, and we needed to step up and stop it.
no subject
You don't say.
no subject
I'm an Avenger now.

There's a deep inhale, then he moves to sit down-- except he's already been seated. This whole time. On the edge of his paltry excuse for a bed.
He keeps looking to Bucky, like he's silently asking for something more than I'm an Avenger now. And it takes him more than a few moments to bring himself to say anything in response to such a revelation.]
You're joking.
no subject
Is it so hard to believe that I could be one?
no subject
No. [He shakes his head.] Just know you’re better than that.
no subject
It's like Sam being petty over a name.]
Better than what? Being there when needed? Helping people? Working together with a team who wants to do good? Seemed just fine when I was teaming up with you.
no subject
All Zemo can do is stare, mouth slightly agape, rendered utterly speechless. There's no way to come back from that, not unless he wants to spit something he'll truly regret later on.]
no subject
Yeah. That's right. When it worked for you it was fine. You welcomed it. You wanted it.
Don't worry, Sam's not interested in me following my own path either. Maybe the two of you can buddy up. Just tell him you don't agree with me and I'm sure he'll pull you out for missions again.

The more Bucky steamrolls him, the more difficult it is to formulate any sort of response. And Zemo just ends up hunching where he sits, staring down at his feet. Utterly ashamed. Still beyond disappointed in so many things.
It seems like it takes far too long, but he eventually speaks. Carefully choosing his words.]
Is that what this is about? Him being upset with you for joining this team?
[Because that’s sure what it looks like. His ill-timed fuck confession probably didn’t help matters much either, he idly supposes.]
no subject
SO he doesn't move. He waits. He hopes there's more to say between them. He's not even really sure why, but it's there.
The question pulls a shrug from him, though.]
Maybe it is, yeah.
Things change. We do what we can to help, but also to get by.

[and he always has, hasn't he? Despite their colorful past.]
You know, everyone talks about doing the right thing, but when it comes down to it, it just ends up being completely different. Ends up being not the right way instead of seeing it for what it is.
[He shakes his head, looking away.]
I don't have a whole lot of faith in myself most days, so I guess I get it. I just figured at least you... maybe you had some in me.
no subject
[And maybe his jealousy is coming through again with that statement. But he hardly cares.]
no subject
[He raises a slight eyebrow, looking at Zemo. He doesn't feel more than capable right now. He doesn't feel trusted either.]
no subject
[He says it plainly, his expression unreadable. Insinuating he knows more than he’s been letting on since the beginning of this unfortunate conversation.]
no subject
[Bucky said dully. That's insinuating a lot, yeah.]
So you did know. You're standing her talking to me about trust while lying to me.
[And digging himself into a bigger hole.]
no subject
How long were you going to wait to fill in the blanks, hm?
