how to play

1. For canon characters, toss up a top-level! For the people AUing in, pick a side — dark or light.

2. Let's get threading! We can get into the specifics of eras and alliances if that's your thing, but this meme is for casual fans and diehards alike, so don't feel as if you need to get caught up in the specifics.

3. If you're unsure of where to go with things, here are some ideas to get you started:

roles

Military - You’re in it for the good fight! (Or someone sold you on some recruitment videos.)
- Underling - Foot soldier. You’re just there to be cannon fodder, or to operate one of six thousand different menial systems on a huge ship. Sorry, man.
- Leader - A General? An Admiral? A Captain, a Colonel? Whatever your rank, you’re in charge of something, from a ship to a squadron to a fleet.
- Pilot - X-Wing, A-Wing, TIE, or other, you’re in a single-person fighter and you’re a hotshot. Maybe you’re even in the rebels’ Rogue Squadron, or Wraith Squadron, under the personal command of Wedge Antilles. Or maybe you’re in the 181st, with the elite, and fighting for the Empire.
- Operative - A covert agent, the sort who gets into enemy facilities and then takes them down. - Support Personnel - Mechanic, supply officer, gung-ho civilian -- you’re there to support the soldiers.
- Spy - You’ve been passing information out of turn -- your loyalties are secretly to the other side. It’s a hard life, but someone’s gotta do it.
Criminal - It can't all be space wizards and hidden forces. Someone has to take out the trash!
- Overload - Big-time head of a smuggling operation - You rival Talon Karrde, Jabba the Hutt and other big-time galaxy smugglers. You’re the head of an entire criminal division.
- Rogue - Own a little bitty ship of your own - Just got this YT-1300 and my sidekick, and we run anything we can. Passengers, cargo, whatever! - Just a little piece in a criminal organization
- Grunt - Someday, you might climb up in the ranks and have your very own smuggling operation.
Force-sensitive - You’ve got a high midi-chlorian count! Now what?
- Jedi - are you a new trainee in the temple? An apprentice out on assignment? A newly minted Knight? A Jedi Master, even?
- Sith - You’ve turned to the dark side. You pursue your own ends -- greed, rage, revenge.
- Clueless - What’s ‘Force’?
- Unaligned - I do what I want.
Civilian - Don't feel bad; the world needs normies, too!
- Low-level - you’ve got some menial job. Waiter or waitress, exotic dancer, farmer. Super-boring, but you dream of a better life. Or maybe you’re happy with what you have.
- High-level - you’re the civilian governor of a planet, or the leader of an interplanetary organization. You may not have the uniform, but you have the prestige. Or maybe you’re a celebrity -- a holodrama star or a sports star.
Slave - Yikes, rough luck.
- You’ve been sold and bought by a criminal organization, probably somewhere on the Outer Rim where the Republic’s law enforcement can’t reach.
- Alternately, you're enslaved by the Empire/the Sith/whoever's into that these days.

[She's a member of The Cutters, a group of mercenaries known by the ornamental scarring on their hands, arms and faces. They'll work for anyone as long as the money's good, and they don't take sides.]

[Pilot for hire, best known for his down-to-the-minute rescue operations. This is on account of being Force-sensitive, with those abilities skewing mostly towards premonition and seeing the course his actions will take.]

[Nico left the order a few years before Order 66, after the death of his Master and with no other Master able -or willing- to take him on, he was still young, but also bold and full of questions. He would have been folded into some kind of support position at the Temple, but he wouldn't have accepted that, especially while also being told that he shouldn't mourn.

So he'd left before he could be exiled, because at least that way he could pretend that it was his own idea. He'd had help getting off-planet, thanks to a long-standing friendship with the one human waitress at Dex's Diner. She -and Dex- helped get him set up with a new name and a job, even a place to stay.

Mama -his new employer- had an even more checkered past than Dex did, but that didn't bother Nico -now Nicky- any, especially since that was what kept him safe on an almost-backwater planet in the mid-rim, just off the shipping lanes.

Alternately: He's part of a group of guns for hire, they're good at what they do and selective about it. Absolutely a dyad with Joe (or something of the sort) and in this scenario, formerly one of a small sect of Force-adepts who believed their pain could take away the pain of others and that the Force-attuned trees were the source of all life in the galaxy.]

[Iggy was a member of a small group of avian humanoids who -while never officially trained- were followers of the Path of the Living Force. Blinded in a rescue operation, Iggy still manages to get around via the vibrations that every living thing leaves behind in the Force itself.

He's more of traveling Shaman than a Jedi, but it works for him.]

[If you've ever had a positive interaction with him, you can summon him for boss fights. Or something like that.]

[Senator's daughter who may or may not have some latent Force-abilities and was recently held captive for a time by a would-be Sith lord who wanted her as an apprentice.

She's since been rescued, and is, by all appearances, trying to get back to normal life again.]

[I'm always down for all the long-lost twin/failed or backup clone of Hux plots. ~~Remember when we used to have fun with these things?~~]

[ Empire (or First Order)-born citizen with his father being very high ranking within it. Ryan was mostly a good little cog in the machine until a run-in with the turncoat turned rebel Akmazian had him second-guessing everything he'd been raised to believe. Works with the Rebellion from the inside, knowing his family gives him a certain amount of leeway to get away with things and that even if it's dangerous he's more useful on the Inside as long as he can be. ]

[A former soldier gone scavenger. He's got a small shuttle of his own and mostly travels the Outer Rim and the edge of the Uncharted Regions. He's been on the wrong side of planetary law and on the wrong side of a handful of mob bosses, but he's always managed to pull through.

If we're going just post Jedi-purge, he probably helps along a leg of The Path when he can.]

[Waitress at a fairly well-known diner on one of the Core Worlds. She's also got ties to the local underground and will help you out with more than a slice of pie and a cup of caf, if you know how to ask and have the cash to cover her finder's fee.]

[Jedi Youngling that escaped the temple during the purge? Escapee from an Imperial/First Order facility trying to breed or induce Force-Sensitivity into clones or even 'volunteers'? There's a few options and I will roll with most of them!]

[This version is a Force-user, raised and more-or-less trained by his ma', he's a gun for hire and mostly stays out of the fight except by way of occasionally waylaying a First Order supply shipment and getting it into the hands of people who can get it into the hands of the Resistance.

I am, however, open to other versions with a bit of discussion first, just PM me or hit me up on plurk]

[Droidsmith extraordinaire, either before he ended up on Kijimi, while there, or after falling in with the Resistance, he's good at what he does and fixes more than just droids!]

[Former Mandalorian, dar'manda by choice. Riley was the first of her clan that fell, but the rest of them did too, and she couldn't do anything but watch.

She lives a quiet life out on some rim-world, armor packed away on the off chance that she's called upon to aid the mand'alor, not that she thinks that's ever going to happen, they haven't actually had a leader for as long as she can remember.

She takes in the occasional stray, sometimes runs an occasional bounty or smuggling job, but mostly just tends to her garden and lives a quiet life.]
