The change in position dislodges her hand, too weak to follow him, and it drifts down onto the mattress next to her. Then he's covering her, and there's the scent of tears in air as he nuzzles her, and she doesn't remember what happened. It had to have been really bad because the room smells like anxiety and despair, and, well, hospitals don't usually set up a second bed for a patient's mate unless their condition is bad.
But when she tries to throw her memory back to whatever happened, there's just nothing. Just some confused memories from when she was unconscious.
