[ The last thing Miguel sees before losing communication with Peter is the man falling off the side of the building where he'd been fighting the latest villain-of-the-week causing tears in the multiverse. It was meant to be a routine mission, something they'd take care of in the afternoon and get back in time for Peter to maybe enjoy dinner with his family for once. As it goes with this line of work though, some things just can't be predicted by an algorithm, no matter how advanced.

While Peter is capable of taking care of himself and a seasoned fighter, even he has his slip-ups, but Miguel hadn't calculated for him losing this fight. This Lizard variant was supposed to be an easy target. Perhaps the most surprising thing of all though is how quick he is to place the blame for this fuck up on himself rather than Peter, for once. He should have known better, should have been looking out for him more closely, and maybe he wouldn't be swinging through the city searching for his friend's body now.

He orders the others to deal with the Lizard, leaving Miguel to seek out Peter. Thankfully, the gizmo on Peter's wrist is still trackable, and Miguel tries to ignore the weird, sinking feeling in his stomach when he lands in the dingy alleyway where his own device is beeping like crazy, scanning the area quickly for Peter. ]

Peter? [ He calls out sharply, somehow managing to erase the strange panic he's feeling from his voice. ]
