(the anger in his gaze is the surest indication that she's hit a nerve and if julie knew him a little better or disliked him a little more, that knowledge would have given her a thrill of pride. as it was, there was still a small sense of satisfaction simply at being right)

I don't know. From what I could tell, it seems like everyone in there felt the exact same way.

(not that she could blame them in the least. slowing her pace a bit now that she doesn't need to run to keep up, his question garners a long silence while she mulls over how best to respond, how much to give away. because my father doesn't trust me. because he doesn't want me to end up like my mother. because i remind him too much of her and that scares the hell out of him.

finally she glanced over, adopting a somewhat weakened smile)


I guess I was a bit too vocal about my feelings on his job, and the tactics he uses.
