The OVER A DRINK Meme

1. Post with your character.

2. You're at a bar. What kind of bar? Any kind you want. From fantasy taverns where various species mingle to futuristic space bars where half the drinks will probably kill you, or even an overly kitsch themed place where everything is overpriced, it's all good as long as there are drinks and company.

3. Respond to other characters. Perhaps you want to buy them a drink. Or perhaps you're inclined to be bought a drink. Maybe you saw someone you knew, or maybe you just want someone to talk to. Could be there's nowhere else to sit, and could be you want to drag them out to dance.

4. Get drunk. Or don't! Be the guest, or the bartender, or the newcomer, or even the janitor. Mingle, make friends, or lurk in a corner.

5. They say alcohol lowers one's inhibitions. Might just be time to find out how much.

I read somewhere that the most requested band while people were intoxicated was Journey and you know I'd honestly believe it considering that's now the second one someones put on the jukebox.

I don't subject people at bars to my musical taste. That's for afterwards, not that I do too much of that either.

Does the jukebox have any of the weirder music you like? I'd listen to that. Just don't put Journey on.

I would never. No one needs to be subjected to that.
I'm not sure? Usually when I'm drunk, which isn't often, I want to listen to funk. Which isn't really a usual bar staple.

Say the word and I'll get that jukebox to play whatever you want.

I doubt it! I mean listening to something 'Raise a Glass' by the Soul Motivators would be fitting for a night out drinking. 'Hang on in There' would also work given the state of the world. [A laugh.]

But I can almost guarantee they don't have either. They might have some Sly Stone though.

It doesn't matter what they have. Some jukebox somewhere has it. It's just a matter of connecting them to this one.

What do you mean by that? [Because of who he is he just sort of backs off when the finger is waved towards him.] Well I mean Hang on in There I guess if I had to pick.

[ John says a few words under his breath, waves his hand in such a manner, and then the jukebox starts playing the correct song. ]

Really? Fascinating. [Also he may be beboping to the music subconsciously. He can't help it.] So you can just find the song in another place and just put it on? Is it an energy thing? Exchanges and all that?

Alright, simple version, I convinced the needle it's against a different record. And yes, that involves a bit of shifting planes and so on but don't worry your head about it.

From what little I know of it. I had a really good friend who did a lot of ‘magic’ work but not quite like this.

True magic, as it's known, is a rare gift and takes years and years of study to master.

Not that I can't do slight of a hand tricks and stage magic. Those are useful things.

She's got them under her belt, and family history but it's more like earth magic, that kinda thing. She makes these tinctures and such that truly are amazing.

[Gabriel just loves hearing people talk about what they are passionate about. There's something to appreciate about that.]

Are you self taught or is it family? Or do they have a school or something? [He promises he's not asking if you went to Hogwarts in so many words.]

I'm not Harry bloody Potter. I taught myself mostly. Had a mentor here and there.

Mostly books and practice.

What's the most practical thing you have ever learned? Something you use day to day and not when you're just trying to impress blokes at the bar.
