Touches. Glances. Sides brushing, so close to each other. The moment is, most likely, quiet, subdued, and calm. Or it could be loud and full of life, right in the middle of a vivacious party. Yet, no matter the case, your blood is pumping - no, nearly boiling with the passion bubbling between you and your companion. Unfortunately, this tension is completely and absolutely out of line. Whether it be the place, the time, your relationship with the person (be that literal relation or power difference, age difference, experience difference, and so on), your own lack of knowledge, or personal convictions, you should not act on any building desires. But here's the thing about tension: it builds. It builds, and it builds, until... Well, even subtlety can come to an inappropriate head. [ the underground fighting club is, unfortunately, not an unfamiliar spot for angelika. located in the basement of the only pharmacy in the downtown district, it is a popular spot for supernatural creatures to congregate and let off some steam. some do it for the thrill, others do it to make a few quick bucks. others still do it because violence still sings in their veins, long after every war they've fought in has ended. ]

Concord. Get up.

[ she finds the older gentleman fresh from a fight, having just been escorted out of the ring and into a corner booth where fighters go to undergo a quick health inspection so no deaths can occur (it'd be bad for business, see). but roughed up as he is, it would take a blind man to think the unicorn might have suffered anything extreme. (just take a look at his opponent, after all. they're still wiping up the poor werewolf's blood from the ring.)

the doctor assigned to concord stiffens, tries to remind angelika about protocol and the like, but she stands firm just two feet away from where they've hunched over the large man, her expression unmoving and stern. all she does is fold her arms under her chest, and the doctor flinches in realization. there's hardly any arguing with a priestess when it comes to healing, after all. ]

[Listen, this is more productive for him than bar brawling. Or just punching holes in walls. A unicorn is a rare enough sight in the wild, let alone throwing fists in some basement speak easy. The other magical creatures are all hungry to get a piece of him... unlucky for them, Concord is a monster himself. That werewolf is mourning the loss of several teeth and a broken jaw.

He peeks up at her with one eye, white eyelashes fluttering open at the familiar voice. Stern. Like him. Concord's always admired her tenacity, especially for checking in on him. He replies with his usual, quiet tone, strict and well commanded. Concord is not a man to much raise his voice for anything,]

[ while angelika can always agree that there are certainly worse options, it doesn't necessarily make this chosen one any more appealing for her. true, there's far less clean up involved for her, but the fact she even has to come here in the first place...

concord is a well-known man. respected, as much as he may be feared and coveted for what he is. but it seems even the strongest and most noble of men crumple under a broken heart... some more often than others. ]

Do you take orders from anyone?

[ by now, the doctor and his assistant has scuttled away, realizing it would be wise to give the two their space. it is highly unlikely concord would get up and fight the priestess, or that she would return that energy herself, but anyone can tell things could get explosive in other ways. perhaps at any second. ]

If you won't do it yourself, I'll be forced to help you.

[ and she's willing to bet he'd like that even less. ]

[Said matter-of-factly. She knows who he means and it's more of a jest than anything. Could even Ali boss him around? Difficult to say. He tips his head backward, stretching his adam's apple, taking in a long and cleansing breath. At least, as cleansing as the smoky, blood tinged air of such an establishment could offer him. It is still refreshing. With the modern era and industry choking the land, Concord can adapted to a certain level of pollution. Smoke smells good to him. Reminds him of a certain dragon...

He'll stand, grunting as he hoists himself from the bench. Concord's human form is tall and built, looming over the much smaller priestess. Concord rolls his shoulders, eases his neck back and forth. He's cooperating, okay,]

[ she takes a half-step back to allow him some space as he stretches himself back out to his full height. there was a time when angelika resented her shorter stature, but moments like these remind her she'd rather have to strain looking up at people than force her body to remember how to stand properly.

when he mentions wanting a drink, he finally pulls an expression from her, bordering on exasperated. ]

On an empty stomach, I'm sure.

[ joy. she already prepares herself for the inevitability she may have to spend the evening holding the man's hair back. ]

Must I nag you about that too?

[ perhaps she'd be more sympathetic to his obvious pain here............. if this weren't such a pattern of his to begin with. ]

[Concord's hair is a touchy thing, he already has it pulled back in a neat braid. One long enough to nearly touch the ground, yet magically seems to never get caught on anything. His silver hair gradiating into oily black towards the ends, another display of how the world is treating being of nature like himself.

He can match that exasperated look, in part because he's well aware of his bad habits. Doing anything about them? A different story.

... having someone holding him account makes it more difficult. There's a twinge of shame, of being less than he's worth, of falling short his own virtues. That used to right him, now it just makes him sink further.]

I'm not hungry... only thirsty. [Phrasing, Concord. He moves passed her with his usual poise, a soldier's poise- once a knight and now a military man of the current day and age. People part when he walks towards the bar at the back of the room. Concord hesitates just enough to be sure Angelika can follow without being hassled. Not that anybody should dare, when Concord is clearly going to be protective of her. More jaws don't need to be broken tonight...]

[ priestesses were a complicated thing in the world of supernatural creatures. they are generally tolerated, if not respected, especially being they usually deal with the dead anyway. but they are, in some ways, a giant source of annoyance for some, who have had to learn to behave under their watchful eyes.

angelika herself knows a fair few of the pairs of eyes that follow them towards the bar, but she makes no indication of familiarity. always the professional. and while some may find priestesses — and perhaps her specifically — to be a thorn in one's side, it's generally ill-advised to try and mess with one. she may not be much of a physical fighter, but that was never their field of expertise to begin with. and any harm that isn't physical tend to be the most annoying one anyway.

needless to say, they're both given a wide, if heavily watched, berth. no one seems to want to be foolish just yet. ]

I'll have whatever he's having.

[ there is no inflection to her voice, or a flicker in her expression. she seems completely serious and prepared to ingest whatever sort of poison he wishes to imbibe in, and maybe that's the point. is she calculating enough to try and force his hand to something milder, knowing he would be putting her in the same position? who can say... ]
