The Other Wordly meme
The Other-Wordly Meme
Words are magical things; they can have so many lovely connotations and varied histories.
Words have family trees just like people. They are linked to each other.
Some words are full of flavor and color and describe things you never suspected there were words for.
Words are why we're here.
The meme is simple: post a comment with your muse's name and canon in the subject line.
List any preferences you may have ("No Shipping," "No Smut," etc.), if you decide to leave the next step up to responders.
Responders (or original posters, if they so decide), go to the Other-Wordly blog and hit 'Random' until you get a word. Use the word as a prompt to write up an RP scenario. Do this several times, if you like. Mix and match. Have fun with it!
Don't stop with a word, though! Words can often have etymologies that are at odds with their current meanings. Words can shift connotations over time. Let your imagination carry you with the words as its wind.

[Stiles came after Scott, ignoring the fact that Scott was trying to ignore him and waving at book at him, one he tried to slip into his friend's hand.]
I need someone else to look at it and tell me I'm not crazy. It's one dream, okay? And I promise pants stay on the entire time.
Okay, except for one part, but it's completely non sexual. Please?

Why would you be crazy? Dreams are just manifestations of your subconscious. And they can be pretty crazy. [ And dirty, your dream diary better not be dirty, Stiles. ] Just, tell me about it. [ And he'd maybe try to give him an ear. Maybe it was worth it. Or, had a connection to the darach or the alphas. Yeah, fat chance. He hoped it wasn't another Stiles saves the day and gets the girl scenarios. ]

Just, um, don't go reading back into anything. Just read this section.
[Sadly, no. There was no girl that Stiles saved. Just a lot of people he knew lying in hospital beds, all of them withering from something eating them from the inside. Was that some kind of subconscious sign that the darach was one of them? That it was someone they knew undermining the group from the inside?
There was also a bit of gore and that one pantsless scene, but that was because spiders had started crawling up the insides of the legs and he'd had to take them off. Eww.]

[ But, he had a book being shoved in his hands. He moved over to the side of the hallway so he could lean, giving Stiles one glare before reading.
Stiles could definitely be vivid. He didn't know about that, but it seemed jarring to say the least. He shut the book. ]
It's a dream.

[He chewed on his thumb, looking over at Scott as he basically asked his best friend if he was crazy and thinking about his mom too much with all these deaths.]

Do you have other murder death dreams? [ How was this one different than any other. ] What does Lydia think?
no subject
[Because then she'd ask him about the symbolism of it and then he'd have to talk about his mom and he didn't want to have to do that.]
Why can't I just talk to you about it?

[He took his book back, letting his back slide off his shoulder so he could cram it inside.]
Why is dream interpretation so hard? There should be a manual. Because let me tell you, I've looked over what things supposedly mean and there are about fifteen different explanations for each symbol, depending on which version you go with. It's confusing.

You think Deaton knows how to do that? I bet he does.
no subject
You can ask him.
no subject
[Don't put it past him, Scott. He'd do it. 'Hey, Deaton. You got some chicken guts to interpret around here? Or should I just go get you a bucket of KFC?' He'd do it, Scott. He's going to totally offend your boss.]

That's what I'm here for. To save you from yourself and your dumb ass decisions.
[And to potentially get him in trouble anyway.]

[He smiled widely and patted Scott's shoulder before he let him go and they headed towards class.]
