[ ... something this cutesy is more Kaylee's idea. Mal just stood there watching Inara with a lopsided grin on his face. ] Never knew this to be your type of thing.

I mean a kiss? I suppose you need a break from that whorin' business of yours.

If this wasn’t for charity, even a kiss would be out of your price range, Mal. [ winning smile! ]

I ain't interested, but I'm interested in that little 'charity' of ours. [ Mal leaned himself over the counter, with a curious look on his face. ] Ain't nothin' like a little makin' a little extra money on the side.

So how much?

[suoxi]

[ . . . Inara casually sliiiiides her jar out of his reach. Bad boy. Down! ]

For you? [ She points to her little sign that's at the edge of the booth, where there's a price scrawled in fancy black ink. ] Double that.

[ Mal tries to watch and see where the jar wanders off to. He might have to play it cool and distract her. ] Double?! [ He raises his eyebrows. Ouch! ] I was hopin' you'd cut me a break. Now, I could have been a total jerk and sent Jayne to see how things were goin'...but... I didn't!

That's because you know Jayne already spent his money on booze. [ She rests her chin in her hand, smile playing at the corners of her mouth. ]

Now, are you going to pay up, or continue to hold the line?

I was thinkin' about holdin' that line up, but then again by doin' that I won't be makin' any money off this. [ Or so he thinks. ]

Imagine that, Captain Reynolds trying to make a quick buck off of a charity event. What's next, taking candy from children?

[ Serenity needs parts, they're broke. What else was she supposed to do? Mal can easily be considered a 'charity', right? ]

I've considered doin' that one before, and I'm sure Jayne wouldn't have any issues with it.

[ she makes shooing motions with her hands. ]

[ Mal tosses a couple coins onto the table. ] And, I'm talkin' about the bad kids! Now, I've paid up, so I don't get a kiss do I?

[suoxi]

[ Inara gives him a look as she sweeps the coins into her palm, then deposits them into the jar she's moved away from. ]

You paid fair and square, Captain. Who am I to deny? [ Kiss her, you fool. ]
