Stiles Stilinski | Teen Wolf | OTA
xvii
And that's not counting the few voicemails he's got that he refuses to listen to because he's pretty sure they're all the same thing.
It's that eighth day that finally drives him to actually answer the door. His phone has been shut off since the day before and he actually got some sleep the previous night, but, no fail, the knocking that slowly turns to pounding comes at his door and he can't deal with it anymore. So, he makes his way over and opens it, his gaze landing on Stiles.]
Don't you have better things to do?
no subject
He can blame the next bit on the fact that Derek had purposefully been avoiding his calls and his visits, leaving the teen to assume the worst in that he'd been roasted in his sleep and the pack of Alphas had come over to cook S'mores over his burning corpse before devouring it. Way to give him a panic attack, jerk.
The look he gives Derek is first surprise, then relief, then annoyance that leaks into anger.]
Maybe I should. Seems making sure that certain stubborn dick head werewolf Alphas are still alive is a giant waste of my time.
[This would be where he turns to stomp his way down the stairs, giving Derek his back. See that? That's what he thinks of you right now, Derek Fail.]
no subject
And, for a split second, he thinks about just closing the door and letting him go, but he thinks better of it with a roll of his eyes.]
Stiles.
[Derek moves out of his apartment and follows after him, making no move to reach for him just yet.]
Come back.
no subject
[He heads down the stairs, cheeks pink with anger as he continues to head over to his jeep. He should have known better, really. Derek was a dick, plain and simple. It just made Stiles more of an idiot for thinking that some crappy leftovers and somewhere safe to sleep for a night might have actually made a difference in having him be seen as anything other than the token human.]
no subject
After all the shit you've given me about coming into your room and demanding things, I finally said I was gonna back off. Remember that? Because I don't think you do. I can't back off if you're coming to me now!
no subject
[It went to show how pissed he was that instead of cringing against the back of the jeep, he was leaning forward, invading Derek's space. He even went so far as to push at his chest with a hand.]
no subject
[Because Derek can take care of himself. And the movement toward him along with the push does nothing to move Derek back, instead just leaving them closer as he stubbornly remains in his spot.]
no subject
[He pushed again with both hands this time, glaring at the man in front of him.]
no subject
[And, yeah, he's still not going anywhere. But he looks less irritated and more confused about what Stiles is talking about.]
no subject
[Dammit Derek, move. Stiles braces his back against the jeep and starts really pushing at the chest in front of him.]
no subject
Fine. Go. I'll get back to not giving a shit.
no subject
Go back? Go back? You're kidding, right? If you gave a shit, you would have least sent a text to let someone know you weren't dead. We're on high alert, you dick. Not the best time for you to pull an Angel.
no subject
You know I'm not dead now, so go home.
no subject
He was angry. Angry at Derek. Angry at himself. Angry at everything. The Alpha should have just picked up the phone, or even sent back a text saying he wasn't dead. Then Stiles wouldn't have built himself up into a panic. Obviously this was Derek's fault.]
no subject
If Stiles is so sure he doesn't give a shit, he's going to let him keep thinking it. Derek's not chasing him down and explaining anything when he knows Stiles isn't likely to actually listen to him anyway.]
no subject
He slammed his door and threw himself down on his bed. It wasn't his fault. People died. People around here died a lot. People around him died a lot. Werewolf or not. Excuse him for giving a shit. If Derek wanted to stay all to himself, good. It was no skin off his nose. Maybe he'd get a good night's sleep for once.]
no subject
Then he takes a seat on his bed to go through his voicemail and, if anything, he finds himself more irritated than before. Because if this is what he needs to do to make it obvious that he does give a shit, it's never happening. The calls and checking on people and being completely obvious that he cares all the time, that's just not the way Derek functions.]
no subject
Even if was just to tell him to screw off, acknowledging Stiles or anyone checking up on him was all they were really asking for. This whole hostile approach like he'd done something wrong just because he wanted to make sure one of their group, as reluctant as he was to be one, was okay.]
no subject
And the longer Derek sits and looks at the screen of his phone, the more annoyed he gets with himself as well. Without really thinking about it, a "sorry" ends up in the text input in his messages with Stiles and, after staring at it for half a minute, he hits the send button.]
no subject
The phone ringing in his pocket had him jerking his hips up, hand darting down to dig it out and pull it up to see -- oh. What? Did Derek seriously just text him an apology? He stared at his phone for a minute, fighting back the urge to tell him to go to hell.]
Okay.
[He wasn't going to let him off the hook completely.]
no subject
So, he shoves his phone in his pocket and pushes himself up to head out of his apartment and down to his car, figuring it's as good a time as any to get something to eat.]
no subject
He had homework to do and it might be a good distraction.]
no subject
Most of the way through his meal, though, he's half glancing at his phone, which ends up on the table beside his plate. And he finds himself disappointed that there's no text that follows - not even one to continue telling him off for being off the grid for a week.]
no subject
No, he wasn't going to let him off with just a 'sorry'.]
Sorry for what?
