Born into confusion,
Where infant eyes deceive,
I reach to my reflection,
But is it really me

I cant see the wind blow,
But I can feel the breeze,
Its coming through my window,
Its moving all around me,
And I can't see the Hand no,
That pulls me to my knees,
But when I meet my shadow,
I see gravity

So now you know what it's like. To be willing to give everything to save your crew, even your own life. Only thing is, you get a second chance.

[ He's quiet for a moment, not staring him in the eye, refusing to look at John Harrison. He knows well enough what he would do, everything that he would do for his crew members, his family as the other man has put it so well, and somehow he's managed to live to tell the tale. Thanks to the man in front of him. Thanks to that powerful blood, those platelets working to overcome damage done by radiation poisoning...he knows. Now, he knows. ]

I'm not like you. [ He closes his eyes, and he takes a slow, deep breath. ] I might know what it feels like, but that doesn't mean I'm anything like you.

Of course you're not like me, Captain. [The response is cold.] But you'd die to save your crew, obviously. [Just as I would have died - as I probably will die to save mine.]

You're not ... an agent of the most secure clearance in the Federation, you're not ... like us. None of you humans are. You know why Marcus pulled me out? He wanted a weapon. He wanted to use me as the world governments had before. Not a person - a creation. Frankenstien's monster without it's own conscience. I suppose I thought when I looked around I saw and heard of none like me. Was I, the, a monster, a blot upon the earth from which all men fled and whom all men disowned? The one they were afraid of, the one they wanted to use to make their world right, and yet they fear me. Just as you fear me now."

[ He's quiet for a moment, blue eyes falling to the ground, because there's a part of John Harrison - Khan, that sticks with him, that makes him think that he's got to keep things like what happened to him from ever happening again. His eyes lift to him, slowly, because he's right, it isn't fair what Admiral Marcus did. It's against everything Starfleet is supposed to stand for as a peacekeeping battalion, as opposed to a fearsome army ran by genetically modified slaves. ]

I don't fear you. And you're not just a weapon, you've got more to you than that, even I can see it. There's no need for you to deny a conscience when you and I both know you feel regret for what has happened in the past. You have good in you, good intentions. You can't just exterminate the human race and allow all that blood on your hands.

[He watches as Kirk absorbs the information.] And how will you prove it, Captain? Your commanders want to kill me, to end my existence. You're certainly not going to convince them otherwise unless you're more persuasive than I believe you to be.

[He looks away briefly when Kirk says he's not just weapon. Kirk is wrong about that. He was created to be a weapon. That's why they made the augments. Regret? No, there's nothing, really. He would have done anything to save his crew. He might regret being manipulated, but he won't regret the lives he took in the process.]

How do you know what good is, Captain. Who decides, you?
My intentions are far from exterminating the human race. You humans always fear the shadows. What you don't understand, fear us because you do not understand our purpose. To bring you, peace. These wars you have fought and these wars you are fighting now, are petty, minuscule things in the turn of the universe.

They don't know what you'll do. They've only seen you be destructive, [ the forty-two lives at the Kelvin Memorial, the shots fired on all the captains and first officers in the region - pike. kirk closes his eyes, and tries to avoid that rage that just surfaces at the very idea of it. ] they've only see you do damage. Of course they want to destroy you before you destroy everything they hold dear to them.

[ he's trying, he's trying to understand the concept of a genetically enhanced human being, designed purely to be better. he doesn't really know how to conceive of it. ]

That's what Starfleet is supposed to be doing. Keeping the peace. We want peace, the majority of us do. They're afraid of you because of what you've done, you understand that, don't you?

They want to destroy because they made me this way, how does that correct their mistake. I was created to tear down infrastructure and rebuild it, to understand how it worked so I could be put to work as they wanted. Marcus showed me enough evidence to believe he had obliterated all I had left that was mine.

If I died there would be no point, at least my statement had been made. I did what I did because of them, Marcus destroyed them, and I, in turn, decimated him.

The others were just part of it. It was supposed to number 72. A life for a life. Isn't this how you humans do things. Someone attacks you and you return the favour.

I just happened not to be one of your governments. Wouldn't you do the same. These are bureaucrats, Kirk. They only accept a war when it's to their benefit, and they target at will.

[He is fiercely angry, still torn over the thought of his loss.]

They have always feared us. What they have created and yet do not bother to understand.
