We all masturbate, it's nothing to be ashamed of. It's also something most prefer to keep private. But sometimes, people forget to knock while we're in the middle of things, and awkwardness ensues.
* Post with your character's name and fandom in the subject line * Others reply, stumbling in on you. * You pick a reaction from the list below. (Or roll 1-10!) * PROFIT!
REACTIONS:
➊ EMBARRASSMENT Yeah, someone just caught you in a very private act and you kind of wish the ground would swallow you up. Now.
➋ ANGER How dare someone barge in on you without knocking! You'll give them a piece of your mind right now.
➌ EXCITEMENT/EXHIBITIONISM happens to be a major turn-on for you, so you'll just continue. Maybe even ask them to give you a hand, you never know...
➍ APATHY Big deal, it's not like they've been living in a bubble where they never knew masturbation existed, and if they were they had to find out about it sometime.
➎ SQUICK Either it was a family member who just walked in on you or you just feel so utterly dirty at having been caught doing something so personal.
➏ DELAYED reaction You didn't even notice they were there until after you finished.
➐ DERAILED REACTION Oh no you've been--what is that on their head? Wait, the world's ending now? D-did you just see that unicorn? Worry about being caught later, figure out what the hell is going on first.
➑ FRUSTRATION COME ON, EVERY TIME!
➒ RELIEF Thank GOODNESS someone came by! Otherwise you'd have had to stop and go grab that toy/pillow/remote for the annoying stereo yourself. Also they could maybe swap discs because this movie isn't really doing it for you. What do you mean it's inappropriate? It's not like you're asking them to watch.
[So call it familiarity, call it getting a little casual, but Christine has developed this habit of not knocking on McCoy's office door. Instead she just kind of walks in without announcement. Like right now.
Normally it isn't an issue - McCoy is usually not there or grumbling over a PADD. But when she waltzes in today and notices what's happening, she just kind of freezes.]
Oh God. I...sorry...
[All she wanted to do was drop off a PADD and ask a quick question about a paitent and it's suddenly a "Oh God oh god oh god what to do" situation.]
[He's going red, tidying himself up as quickly as possible and hoping to God she didn't see as much as he suspects she did. Please God, just for once, can you be on his side - Christine is nearly like a sister to him, and the idea of her seeing him like this is kind of horrifying.]
[Christine's own cheeks had reddened a little, feeling really awful that she had walked in on him doing this. On one hand...yeah, ick. But on the other, she was actually glad to see him doing this. Gave the good doctor some humanity.
But either way, she turned around to suddenly find the medical volumes on his shelf very interesting. She's happy to pretend that she didn't see anything and even happier to give him time to put himself together right now.]
Oh, ah, well, I was just dropping off this PADD. And I wanted to show you something about Lt. Sanon's vitals.
[Once she hears the rapid-fire zipping, she takes another twenty seconds before turning around and giving him a smile. Christine crosses to his desk and hands...sets the PADD down in front of him.]
Dr. Boyd cleared Sanon for duty, but I'm not so sure.
[She enhances the image of his vitals on his throat.]
He doesn't seem concerned about the slight inflammation of the man's throat, but I think he has an infection. I know that he has a medical degree and I shouldn't second guess him, but...I'm concerned.
[Christine has been reading a lot of medical journals lately. She doesn't intend to be a nurse forever.]
[She's gotta give it to McCoy. There's no way she'd be this put-together if he had just caught her masturbating. She'd be a complete wreck. Then again, a sick patient was definitely more important than any kind of embarrassment. Thanks, Lt. Sanon.]
Okay, good. I'm glad it wasn't just me. There was just something off about the color on the back of his throat.
[McCoy is also very good at operating under various circumstances, most of them hurried and some of them awkward, so he's basically a pro at this.]
I think we ought to keep him under observation for another day. If he's not displaying any symptoms by this time tomorrow, we'll release him to quarters.
[She already had a high opinion of the doctor, but it just raised a little more.]
Absolutely, sir. I'll make sure to go break the news to Sanon. Then again, I don't think he'd mind. He's been flirting with one of the nurses ever since he was conscious enough.
[Christine has pressed her lips together so hard so that the giggles she's suppressing don't leak out. She'll have a good laugh about this once she is far away from McCoy.]
Yes, sir. I'll be attending to Sanon if you need something.
[And with a knowing grin, she slips out the office door.]
[Christine is well aware that she's going to pay for that jab later, but oh, she just couldn't resist. Next time she might compliment McCoy on his...equipment. Well, she'll determine what kind of mood he's in first.
For now, though, she'll actually go and do her job.]
[McCoy spends enough time in his office to try and gather the shredded remains of his dignity, but he can only hide for so long before he has to go out and actually, like, do some doctoring.
He checks his hair, his uniform, and then heads out into medbay.]
[Her eyes widen, but she immediately goes to get the medicine loaded in a hypospray. She double checks the dosage to make sure it's correct and then returns to McCoy.]
Here, sir. Nitrocefin and Taurolidine.
[Christine hands him the hypospray and waits for further instructions.]
You have one Chapel, but how about another?

What is it?

[RAPID-FIRE ZIPPING OF PANTS GO.]
Come on, then, I don't have all day. Is Sanon okay?

[He taps the PADD to look at the image himself, frowning at it, then grabs his tricorder from his belt and begins scanning.]
You're on to something. I don't like the look of it, either.
no subject
Okay, good. I'm glad it wasn't just me. There was just something off about the color on the back of his throat.

Of course he was. He's biological sciences, isn't he? Swear to God, if I find out he's infected himself to stay here longer ...
no subject
If I find out, I will personally report it to his superior officer. And then watch with joy at whatever you do to him.
no subject
[He nods.]
I think we got that straightened out. Anything else you've got questions about, Nurse?
no subject
[She takes a step away from his desk and toward the door.]
I will leave you to what you were doing. Unless you need a hand.
[Christine bites her lip to suppress a grin and takes another couple of steps toward the door, expecting him to yell/grumble/etc.]
no subject
I don't need a hand with anything!
[JESUS CHRIST THAT'S EVEN WORSE.]
I mean - I mean - NOTHING. Carry on, Nurse Chapel.
[anytime you want to open up and swallow him whole, floor, that'd be swell.]
Dear Lord, your Bones kills me. :)
Yes, sir. I'll be attending to Sanon if you need something.
[And with a knowing grin, she slips out the office door.]
haha tyyyy :D he's so awkward.
Goddammit.
But it's such an excellent awkward.
For now, though, she'll actually go and do her job.]
it is a super fun awkward :3
He checks his hair, his uniform, and then heads out into medbay.]
Nurse Chapel. Has anything -
[arisen? no. come up? definitely not.]
- happened?
\o/
Nothing in particular, sir. I was just about to go check that ensign from engineering - see if his temperature went down. Would you like to join me?
no subject
[Oh good, they're pretending it didn't happen. That and doctoring are his two top talents.
They arrive at Ensign Bates' bedside and McCoy checks his vitals on the screen.]
Hmm. That any different?
no subject
He's down a degree to 100. But he was at 101 an hour ago. His fever isn't breaking as well as it should.
[He knew that, of course, but Christine couldn't help but voice her fears.]
no subject
Shit. Get me one hundred cc's each of nitrocefin and taurolidine. He's showing early signs of infection.
no subject
Here, sir. Nitrocefin and Taurolidine.
[Christine hands him the hypospray and waits for further instructions.]
no subject
[He fires off the hyposprays in rapid succession, pointing without looking at the vitals.]
Any changes, Nurse?
no subject
And finally.]
99.8, sir. [A beat.] 99.6.
