The DARK AU Meme

One thing or another went awry, and your character is no longer on the side of the angels. Whether it's through brainwashing, a loss of faith, or just plain wickedness, the draw of the dark has proved much stronger than the call of good.

I N S T R U C T I O N S

1. Post with your character's name and fandom in the subject line! If you already have a dark AU for this character, this would also be a good place to link to any information about it.
2. Look around to find other awesome people who have also posted!
3. Pick a scenario or head over to the RNG to have one picked for you!
4. Tag them!
5. Horrors Profit!

S C E N A R I O S

1. Interrogation - someone from the other side has been captured and brought back, and it's up to you to get them to spill. Maybe you're just the best person for the job, or maybe they're somebody that you used to know. Either way, it all depends on you making them talk.
2. Reconnaissance - you're deep behind enemy lines now, keeping your eyes and ears open for anything useful you might come across. Take care you don't get caught.
3. Double Agent - maybe you're still secretly good but you're in deep with the baddies, or maybe you've never relinquished your inner wickedness but you've convinced the good guys you've changed. Make sure no one finds out your real intentions.
4. Brainwashed - whether through hypnosis or deceit, you've been convinced this is the side for you. But here's someone from your old life - maybe they can talk you out of it?
5. Defection - "I've been a fool!" You've seen the light and you're coming over to the good guys ... but is your contrition genuine?
6. Kidnapped - Either due to a mistake or the cleverness of the other side, you've ended up in their clutches. Just pray they don't have truth serum ...
7. Showdown - It's the final face-off. You against your arch-enemy. Only one of you can walk away from this, and you're determined that it's going to be you.
8. Punishment - you've fucked up. Maybe valuable information was lost or you let someone important get away. No matter what it was, it could mean defeat, and it's time to pay the piper.
9. Victory - You've won! The other side has been completely subjugated and you're planting your flag in their headquarters. Sounds like a chance for a celebration.
10. Defeat - ...or not. Everything went wrong and you've found yourself begging for mercy from the people you tried to kill. Hopefully they'll be more merciful than you would have been ...
11. Pick Your Own - combine, make up your own, have fun!

Due to this being a dark AU meme, there may be triggers, so tread carefully and be respectful so we can all have a good time. :)

Wreck-It Ralph | Wreck-It Ralph (AU Hero's Duty Space Marine) | Scenario 5/11

[personal profile] wreckyeah 2013-03-25 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
[The months of constant warfare day in and day out (except on holidays) that Ralph had been subjected to in Hero's Duty had taken its toll on him.

He was tired of dying at the teeth and claws of the Cy-Bugs, no matter how many he shot down, it was likely that he was going to die during any given game. And there were a lot of games that were played every day.

Ralph had become something of a shell of his former self, while his backstory dictated that he had been part of the Space Marines for a very long time, none of his previous missions had required him to stay on the same planet for months at a time while fighting a war that could never be won and dying thousands of deaths.

The periods of time he blanked out were becoming longer and longer, on his off nights, it was common to see him wandering around with a glazed look in his eye as he randomly walked through Game Central Station. And when he slept, he was plagued by endless nightmares. There were very few times he had to really be himself.

During a particularly nasty round, where the gamer was doing horribly, but kept stuffing quarter after quarter into the machine, Ralph finally snapped.

He was tired of being on the losing team. It was rare that a gamer had the patience and the quarters to beat the game, it took over an hour or more to get through all 99 floors and the final boss, so more often than not, the Space Marines accomplished nothing.

Ralph saw a particularly nasty Cy-Bug coming towards him and he lowered his gun, making himself completely vulnerable to the monster rushing at him.

He's died so many times that one more death means nothing to him. He's seen the glowing maw of the Cy-Bugs closing in on him more times than he can count. He doesn't even flinch as the Cy-Bug gobbles him up in one solid gulp, crushing him into oblivion and integrating him into itself.

It took several moments for the process to begin, during those moments Ralph technically didn't exist as the Cy-Bugs programming figured out how to handle transforming into its meal.

The other Space Marines were busy, having their hands full with a swarm, so they didn't notice what was going on with their comrade as the Cy-Bug slowly turned into a massive fusion of Ralph and a robotic bug.

His shell mimicked his armor, being tough and thick, with every edge ending in a razor-sharp blade. Along with the red lights from his armor, his tail had two glowing red parts to it, instead of the green ones the Cy-Bugs normally had.

Ralph's eyes glowed orange as he let out a fearsome roar that echoed through the desolate game.

For once, he held the power, but he couldn't enjoy it, for the Cy-Bug's mind had overtaken him completely. Ralph's mind was nearly gone and now his goals and the Cy-Bug's were one and the same: destroy the Space Marines and protect the Queen.]
