stuck in an elevator

STUCK IN AN ELEVATOR MEME

You enter the elevator with only one other person on it. Twenty seconds into the ride and it stops. The power is stuck. The doors won't open, you're between floors, and no one is answering your calls. You're stuck with this person for an unknown amount of time.

What are you waiting for?

[It comes across a bit imperious, without doubt -- but the elevator has not moved in thirty seconds and Thor is getting a little twitchy in the small space. Additionally, he has every faith that a man who built himself a flying suit of metal from scratch can easily handle an elevator]

Fix it.

[Tony, who is currently tapping away at his phone, looks up and grins a little.]

Your faith in me is astounding, but this isn't my design.

[He furrows his brows and taps a little more viciously at the phone as he mutters.] Or even my system, what is this shit? No wonder the god damn thing stopped, it looks like a kindergartener made this... This is Hammer tech, isn't it? It has to be, that would make sense, does no one ever learn not to buy the insane guy's systems? Nooo, never that--

[Tapping harder, because, you know, that is totally going to fix it.]

As it astounds you, I request you not shake it and dispense with this mechanical rebellion quickly.

[Thor's frown deepens the more Tony taps at the machinery. That has the distinct look of a man who is not certain in any way of what he's doing, and is only poking about the innards of a thing in the hopes of getting it working again as though by magic.

Not reassuring, not at all.

The walls of this -- this suspended box hanging needlessly still in a long and very high chute -- suddenly feel a bit closer. Why are these elevators designed to be so small? Humans might be tiny, but this is ridiculous]

How does he remain in business if his products are so prone to failure? [Thor shifts a bit, trying not to let on that there's a growing sense of unease building inside him. It's not that he fears the falling-- he flies, for Glory's sake, via a very large hammer -- but it's the confinement and the eerie, yellowish light that's starting to flicker overhead. It's damned unnatural.] I believe I hate him.

Ordinarily the fact that the elevator had stopped would be alarming enough, but the fact that the said elevator is in Stark Tower and a moment later the power flickers and dies - one powered by an independent power source the size of the reactor - is even more disturbing.

Bruce glances up at the ceiling and then over at Tony. "How is this good?"
