The Tag Someone New Meme

THE TAG SOMEONE NEW MEME
How It Works
Sometimes, memes can be awkward. There's always that feeling that, if you don't know the person behind the curtain, you'll be intruding somehow. Don't worry. We've all been there. Still, it's nice to have that little reassurance that hey, it's cool. We're all in this together and we just want to play.

That's where this meme comes in! The point here is to play with someone you've never played with before, OR play with a character/canon you're unfamiliar with. The prompts provided include mundane activities, chance meetings, platonic fluff, romance/smut, fighting, and crack. This is pretty much the granddaddy of meme variety, so there should be something for just about everyone.

INSTRUCTIONS
- Comment with you character(s). In the subject field, put all the info that's relevant + any preferences.
- Reply to others. Remember, the goal is to play with new people!
- The initial set of prompts is in this post. The subsequent sets are linked GoogleDocs.
- Use the RNG to get your prompts.

... now with the right journal

[The story starts with a wolf sighting.

Eryn knows that this was the wrong place to come out of the Umbra - in the middle of a park near city center. But bleeding and concussed from a long battle, she wasn't sure she'd have the strength later. She lies in her enormous wolf-form within a rock formation, as hidden as she has managed to be, trying to get her bearings enough to Change back.]

;) Oh gosh it's been a while since I played White Wolf stuff...

He knows all the local parks quite well, particularly the hidden places, because even here people might give him odd looks for conducting pagan rituals so it's easiest just to do them out of sight. Today, he's simply out to enjoy nature, just a student with a hiking backpack, which looks even bigger because he's on the small side. Something is amiss here, though, and it gives him pause. There's been a warping, a stretching, some kind of temporary shift in the local energies to let something through.

A wolf is not what he expected, and when he climbs the rocks and sees the furry form curled up in the shelter there, he's a little surprised.

Thought you might know the canon XD

Dazed as she is, it's a few minutes before Eryn realizes that someone is approaching, and by then it's too late. This is trouble, and it's trouble at a very, very bad time. Instinct tells her to snarl at the stranger and drive him away from her resting place, but she knows that that would only bring more humans, perhaps with guns and nets. What did her brother always say? Look like you're domesticated - they'll think that someone owns you, and you aren't their problem.

She puts her head on her paws and tries to look as though she is simply resting. Her wounds aren't obvious; perhaps a human, who cannot smell blood as sharply as a wolf, would be fooled.

A little bit, it's been over a decade...

It's a young human, by the looks of it, not a child but not quite yet a man. He's slight of build and blonde, with dark brown eyes. His expression is calm and serious, but not the least afraid. He tilts his head thoughtfully, like a bird, and speaks in soft tones with a heavy Irish accent. "Ye look more than a little lost. Is it just you that came through?" He could be speaking to himself, making the question rhetorical...

Still better than nothing.

She raises her head, nose twitching as she considers him with an appearance of feigned disinterest, unsure if his lack of fear is a good or bad sign. Her eyes are slightly glazed over, and she knows that if he comes closer he will see the blood.

What he says registers dimly. She doesn't make the connection. If he were Garou or Kin he'd have known what she was at once; since he doesn't, she takes the safe route and gives a faint but definite warning growl. Very few people stand their ground after a warning growl from a beast of her size, dog or wolf.

I played it in a LARP setting.

"Eeeeasy." His voice grows even gentler, and he turns sideways in a crouch, the kind of body language that's friendly and non-aggressive in most canine understanding. "There's no wolves here... certainly not like you. Are ye hurt, or just lost?" He's Garou or kin, he smells like a human, but he doesn't give off any of the ordinary signals, like a scent of fear. He's as calm under the surface as he is outwardly, and his tone is friendly and inquisitive.

Wow, never got to do that... all tabletop here.

Wolf. He knows that she's a wolf. He isn't frightened of her, either. This is bad. Dimly she wonders, then decides that she should simply kill him. Throw him from the rocks, maybe, to make it look natural. Yes, she has to kill...

She drags herself to her feet and tries to lunge, but stumbles over her own paws and crashes, whining in pain and helpless anger. There is an almost bone-deep laceration on the inside of her back right leg, running up to her stomach, and with most of her adrenaline gone she can't put any weight on it, much less brace to leap. It's painful, humiliating, infuriating. She has to Change. If she can reach Crinos form, the Delirium will do the rest -

Her flesh begins to ripple. It's slow going, but she pushes herself hard.

It was... weird, but that was the other players.

He's not completely without any instincts of self-preservation, and when she starts to lunge he rises to his feet in an instant, fluid and swift and crouched to fight or flee. It's quickly obvious she's not going to reach him though, and his posture relaxes again as his voice turns to sympathy. "That looks bad. Will you let me help you?"

He looks a little surprised as she begins to shift, but still not shocked. Whoever he is, he's pretty hard to faze.

By now, even through the haze, it's clear to her that something is not as it should be. He isn't frightened, he knows how to watch himself, he wants to - help her? And she is changing, and he isn't panicking.

Wary curiosity overcomes her rage; she shifts past the Crinos form until settling in human form, an enormously tall and well-muscled woman with a long frayed auburn braid, pale and clammy from pain and blood loss, though not as dizzy now that the Change has smoothed out some of her wounds. Crouching, tense, she stares at him, as though daring him to respond to her clearly unnatural nature.

"Kin?" The question is quiet, but pointed.

There's that birdlike little tilt of the head again, and he edges closer, hands loose at his sides so she can see they're empty. "D'ye mean the fae? No... I'm not one of them. That looked like it needs stitching, but I don't carry a first aid kit..." He rarely needs one, after all. "But I have seen yuir kind before, ages ago."

Fae? She tilts her head in a gesture that mirrors his, clearly confused. The words are lost on her - but his sincerity shines through, to instinct that has never truly needed words. She uncurls somewhat and lets him see her injuries more clearly, the deep claw marks along her leg and stomach where the plain white cotton clothes she wears are dyed a deep red with hints of black. The deeper cuts stink - the Black Spiral Dancers spared her nothing. But there is altogether too much blood on her for all of it to be hers.

"No," she says softly. "No stitching. Will heal. I need water. Drink, clean." She hesitates, still pinning him with a thoughtful amber gaze. "Not Fae. And you... not human."

"Aye, I'm sure ye will, but how quickly?" Very slowly, both so she won't think it's an aggressive mood and also because he is a little wary, he slides the tall backpack off his shoulders. He doesn't even need to open it up, because there's a mesh pocket in the side that holds a big metal water bottle. Surefooted but cautious, he moves down the rocks just close enough to offer the bottle out to her. She'll be able to reach it without really getting up, but he's not quite in easy striking distance either.

"Nnnn-no." He answers slowly, retreating a step once she has the bottle. "I'm an immortal." He puts up a hand quickly, palm out. "Not a vampire, mind ye, just... an immortal."
