the ASS KICKING battle meme

{ the ass-kicking battle meme }
because, let's face it-- it's what most of our characters do as their 9 to 5.
rules:
- post with your character's name & series in the title. any preferences or notes to other players go here too.
- tag around using the RNG, or feel free to make up your own scenario if you already have an ass-kicking prompt in mind.
- kick ass and take names.
{ i. PRE-ASS-KICKING. }
1. GEAR UP. Can't fight a battle without the proper equipment, right? You're doing whatever you need to protect yourself from the enemy. Charging up mana. Strapping ammo to yourself. All in a day's work.
2. BATTLE ROOM. You can't just storm in there unless you want to get yourself riddled with bullet-holes-- so you've gotta plan how to down the enemy, and fast. Maps, floor plans, elaborate attack strategies.
3. PEP-TALK. All soldiers need it before going into battle. Fighting the end boss? Going up against an old friend? Better raise that morale of that pal of yours. Maybe they're nervous.
4. LAST GOODBYE. You know it's a lost cause. Say what you need to before you head out there.
{ ii. ASS-KICKING TIME. }
6. INFILTRATION. Whether you're navigating your way through hi-tech laser security systems, avoiding trip wires and empty can noise traps or sneaking into the enemy's lair in the dark, you're a pro at infiltration. I hope.
7. UNDER FIRE. From whatever common enemy or beast you pissed off, they're after you, teeth flashing or guns blazing. Better think quick.
8. SUDDENLY, UNARMED. Whatever weapon you use has been deactivated, knocked out of reach or broken. Ensue amazing karate skills.
9. MAN DOWN. You've been downed in battle by whatever you're fighting. Let's hope you're just unconscious and that your comrades are gonna avenge you.
{ iii. POST-ASS-KICKING. }
10. CELEBRATE. The boss is dead, the world is saved. Pop open that bottle of bubbly, will you?
11. HEAL UP. Whatever you fought is dead, but it sure did tear you a new one before it went down. Time for some first aid.
12. REFLECT. What's changed, now that the battle is over? Is the battle ever really over?
13. MOURN. You lost some good guys back there-- nothing's going to change that. You better come to terms with it before it consumes you.
Kyle Aspen | OC | OTA
>_> I re-rolled. They've had enough angst. 5.
"As soon as he goes down, I want you to run," Stephen said, looking down the scope at the door. "I'll be right behind you." He had to pack up the gun first and head down from the roof as if nothing had just happened. He was wearing jeans and a jacket instead of one of his nice suits. A little easier to blend in that way.
\o/ that sounds good to me!
He lowered the binoculars, glancing at Stephen and smiling softly. "Yeah, okay, no problem. Trust me, I'm looking forward to getting off this roof."
He never would've guessed that he'd be the one with valuable information, but it turned out that Stephen's target had been a regular client of Kyle's.
Kyle couldn't help but grin as he glanced at Stephen, his eyes traveling downward to those jeans. God, he loved seeing his lover in jeans.
\o/
Stephen moved his shoulders around, stretching them out before he looked back through the scope. They only had one shot when the time came. But he could feel Kyle looking at him and he glanced at him out of the corner of his other eye, smiling a little. "Seeing something you like, darling?" They have to keep entertained somehow, don't they?
no subject
His grin widened when Stephen acknowledged his staring, and he nodded. "Oh, I'm seeing a whole lot of something I like. Can't wait to see more."
He'd never had sex on a rooftop before, and the anticipation of the moment had his blood flowing hot. They were supposed to be on a mission though, and he didn't want to cause Stephen to miss his shot. Maybe afterwards though...
"So, this guy," he said, trying to jerk himself out of inappropriate thoughts, "he's, what, a spy? I never would've guessed. He was always so...nervous when he was with me."
no subject
That didn't help much with the inappropriate thoughts but it gave them something to look forward to at least. He gazed through the scope again. "I don't think I should tell you actually. The less you know, the better. It's bad enough that you know what he looks like."
no subject
He straightened up as the door opened across the street, and he peered through the binoculars to get a better look at the man's face. He swallowed hard, recognizing that distinctive bump in the man's nose.
"Get ready, Stephen. He's leaving the building now," he said.
no subject
As soon as he saw Kyle move, he leaned forward to focus through the scope and laid his finger against the trigger to be prepared. "Dark jacket, big nose?" he asked, following the man with the scope of his gun. "Go. I want you to the stairs before I even take the shot."
no subject
Stephen's voice shook shook him out of his inner musings, and he nodded. "Yeah, that's him." He hesitated, wanting to say more but not sure what, and he offered a weak "Good luck?" before scooting away. He got to his feet, crouching low so as not to draw attention to their vantage point, and made his way to the stairs. Stephen had already briefed him on where to go, and after one last look thrown over his shoulder at his lover, he headed down the stairs, body thrumming with adrenaline.
no subject
By the time he rounded the corner to the other street, the police were only just being called by the passers by and people were still running around in panic. Stephen came up beside Kyle, slipping his arm through his lovers and walking next to his side, offering him a smile. "You did well. Now we just breathe and walk to the car."
no subject
He nearly jumped out of his skin when an arm skimmed across his, but he relaxed as he recognized Stephen. "Thank you." He licked his lips. "I know you don't want to tell me the specific details of the mission, but just tell me that he was scum, okay?"
He wasn't sure if it would alleviate his guilt or make it worse, but he needed some kind of closure.
no subject
However, the smile that Stephen gave Kyle might have come a little too easy as he squeezed his arm in reassurance. "He was not a good man. I don't expect you to forget everything you knew about him or even try to justify it with that, but there was a lot you didn't know about him, and a lot you shouldn't know." He drew in a breath and lifted his chin up a little. "It was necessary. Thank you for your help, I know that wasn't easy."
no subject
He trusted Stephen though, and if he said the guy wasn't a good man, then Kyle believed him. After all, he had some experience with people hiding their true natures, and he drew in a breath, letting it out in a slow sigh. "You're welcome. I'm glad I was able to help."
It wasn't easy, no, and it might take him a day or two to stop thinking about it, but he was certain he'd be okay. Stephen's presence would help.
He forced a brighter smile onto his face and looped his arm around Stephen's. "So, is that it? Do I have you to myself now?"
no subject
He was glad Kyle trusted him though and certainly he didn't want Kyle to have to be in this position again. It was better that he didn't see it. At least, if he needed to, he could pretend it didn't happen. Or however he needed to cope with it.
"Yes, you do." Though he hoped that Kyle would want to do something with him now, that it hadn't turned him off. "The rest of the day is yours."
no subject
He squeezed Stephen's hand. "What do you say?"
That should get his mind off things, right?
no subject
"Playing tourist, I like it." It would be a good distraction and it would get them seen by others, help to provide some cover otherwise. Not that his cover wasn't solid. Stephen was even more careful when it involved Kyle.
"Where should we go first?"
no subject
"Well, in honor of your British heritage, I think we should go to the Castle Walk Shops inside of Excalibur," he said, his smile turning to a mischievous grin. "It's not just clothes and collectibles, they even have a live jousting event and midway games and rides. It's really kinda fun."
no subject
He was glad that Kyle seemed more relaxed though. He could let it all go but he still worried about Kyle, what impact it might have on him. It was good that they could make it memorable otherwise.
no subject
He grinned and stepped to the edge of the curb, lifting his arm to flag down a cab. "Good thing you met me then, huh?" he teased as he glanced at Stephen. "I can help you play tourist a lot."
no subject
"It is a good thing that I met you." He kissed Kyle's cheek. "Thank you for showing me the sights. I like doing this a lot more with you."
