The problem with fidelity to the human form was that certain unpleasant conditions humans often fell into still applied. Sometimes it was hard to tell what Kay would and wouldn't put up with from her long-term game of let's-pretend, but lately she'd been aiming for verisimilitude and so when she'd felt the niggling of some bug or other in her system, she'd done what the average human did: ignored the hell out of it.

Turns out that doesn't work too well.

It wasn't necessarily unusual to have her groan, roll over and go back to sleep after Aaron got up for the day, but her early-morning protestations had a certain congested sense to them, and when noon rolled around and she was still in bed, that'd be a sign for some concern.

"So how hung over are you?" the blonde asked, checking in on the redhead, curious about her indulgently long session of sleeping in. He was standing in the doorway to the darkened room, looking in without much concern at the moment!

She groaned and rolled over, and a certain flailing of the blankets suggested that she might have been trying to throw something at him, but couldn't summon up the oomph.

Another flail and rearrangement of blankets bared her head to the air. 'Disheveled' would be a gentle way of describing her look just now; in addition to appearing tired, she was flushed and had a particularly pathetic look on her face. "What, I have a drinking binge I don't remember last night?"

"The way you are, I wouldn't be surprised. Let me go check the fridge." Aaron jibed. "Nope, looks like you managed to do it to yourself." He wandered into the room, now, looming over her, giving her a good looking over. "So what's your problem, anyhow?"

She rolled onto her back, pulled the blanket back up to her chin. "Don't come too near me, blondie," she warned weakly. "I'm contagious. Probably."

"You're contagious?" he scoffed, leaning over her still. "What are you doing, birthing a plague to destroy all human life as we know it?"

The bedridden redhead regarded Aaron speculately, and then sighed, pulling the blanket back up over her head. Much as she liked banter, her head felt full of cotton balls and he was being abrasive. "Yes, that is exactly what I'm doing, by roundabout way of catching the damn flu," she told him, muffled under the blanket.

During his stay with Kay, Aaron had fallen to a cold or two. He'd also had to put up with a set of broken ribs, a couple of concussions, and some minor burns -- friendly fire was still fire, after all!

In short, he had no sympathy... but he feigned it never the less. "You poor thing," he crooned, tone mocking, "you just need to rest and drink a lot of water. Here," he told her, wandering out for a few minutes, then wandering back in with a tall, cold glass of the stuff. "Drink it all."

Empathy from Aaron was suspect at the best of times, and Kay could smell insincerety, particularly when he did such a half-assed job of covering it up. She watched him put down the glass with a baleful, bleary gaze. "Fuck off and leave me to my misery in peace," she growled at him, ignoring the water despite its undeniable utility.

"I'm sure you'll really enjoy that," he replied, leaning over her further still. "Here, I know just the thing."

A moment later and he was tucking her in, blankets cinched in around her such that she could barely move.

She groaned and wriggled weakly but was easily subdued, definitely not full of her usual spitfire piss-and-vinegar. She glowered at him a moment longer from her newly secured position in bed, but subsided, eyes closing. "You are such an insincere asshole, Aaron," she muttered weakly.

"You wouldn't want it any other way," he knowingly replied. "I'll go for a stroll and fetch you some medicine and you can experiment," he chortled. "Knock you out for a few hours so even you don't have to put up with that misery of yours."

She grumbled and groaned and may have flipped him off, though it was impossible to tell with the way he'd wedged her right into bed. She did manage to wriggle herself turned over, though, so that her face was half-down in the pillow, and seemed already to be fighting back sleep again. "Yeah, get out of here, jerk," she mumbled with her own distinct lack of sincerety.
