[ What exactly it was that prompted Loki to crawl from the bed and quietly make his way down the hallway to the living room, he wasn't entirely sure. It might've been the sound of the falling rain outside, it might've just been the day's events catching up to him and consuming him in the dark, it might've just been loneliness. Which is strange, Loki is not supposed to feel lonely. But something isn't right, so out to the living room he goes, slowly and silently so he doesn't disturb the man on the couch.

That was his intent, he promises. Hopefully he doesn't disturb him still as he steps up onto the couch, settling down between the back of it and curled up against Eliot's chest. There's a sense of safety and security now, and Loki's able to drift off to sleep much more easily. No dreams, no nightmares, just sleep. ]

[ It had been a tiring day for Eliot, especially since the night before was spent as a wolf and rather than resting today, he had driven Loki back and gotten him settled into his small bachelor's flat. He hadn't intended to bring anyone here, but he could hardly leave this stranger, hurt as he was, out in the woods alone.

After having given Loki his bed, he had crashed out on the couch.

But an hour in and there was enough of a stirring near him that he jerked awake anyway. In fact, he would have attacked the shape curling up around him if he hadn't waken up fully in time to stop himself.

He blinked when he found what, or who, had fit himself into the curve of his torso on the small living room couch. ]

Hey there... [ He called sleepily, one arm awkwardly coming out to hold the man tighter to him. ] Don't like the bed?

[ He really didn't mean to disturb Eliot's rest. He knew the other man was just as exhausted, and the fact that he'd been gracious enough to let Loki sleep in the bed and take the couch for himself was very kind of him indeed.

So it was quite rude of him to just barge in and wake him. The couch was roomy, but only just, barely enough for the two of them upon it. The bed would've been just fine, if he had been able to fall asleep there. But here? Beside Eliot like this, it was easy enough to drift off to a dreamless sleep.

Until Eliot had jolted awake and Loki had nearly jumped off the couch in surprise.

But the other man was just as kind and gentle to him as ever, and Loki settled back down against Eliot's side, feeling foolish for disrupting him so. It wasn't as if the bed was uncomfortable, no. He just ... slept better next to Eliot, that was all. But it was difficult to get that message across without words, so Loki merely shrugged his shoulders, and lifted one hand to gesture at a nearby window and the pouring rain outside. ]

[ Given the state of his guest, Eliot wasn't expecting an audible response, but he didn't expect that level of trust either.

Despite their few nights together in the woods as wolf and man, Eliot was surprised by the level of comfort that existed between them that allowed this to happen.

It wasn't even just trust, but that Loki just melted against him. Where the other man hadn't been able to fall asleep on a large bed to himself, he came to snuggle against him, a virtual stranger still, and was relaxed in a matter of moments. ]

Rain botherin' you, huh.

[ Shifting so he could put his arm around the other proper, the couch was snug for the two of them, Eliot settled back and smiled in understanding. ]

Don't worry, you're safe in here. [ And he meant it. ]

[ It was true, they certainly hadn't known each other long at all. But there was just something about the man, something that told him even though he was mostly human, he was protected here. Loki couldn't really explain it, the thought was baffling to him.

He could've scolded himself. This was ridiculous, this was childish and pathetic. And he was disturbing Eliot's sleep as well.

Loki very nearly pushed himself up to get away, feeling ashamed for having been so pitiful, but it was that moment that Eliot's arm moved around him, holding him more securely. Encouraging him to stay. And he was even smiling at him, telling him it would be alright, like he was easing away a child's worries from his nightmares and fears.

He was unable to ask if Eliot was certain, but as the distant rumbling of thunder grew louder, this was probably the only way he'd sleep at all tonight. With an appreciate nod, he settled back down on the couch, curled up close at Eliot's side. His hand rested over Eliot's chest, fingers gently curling into the material of his shirt, though it was a few more minutes yet before he closed his eyes once more. ]
