[ If Clary had learned anything it was things in the shadow world were not easy and danger existed around every corner. It meant they needed to grab onto happy moments while they could and not let anything pass them by. But why did they seizing the day moments have to lead to a sponsored dance by the clave? They probably thought it made up for all the other horrors they overlooked or allowed to happen.

Tugging on her dress, Clary took a seat at one of the tables a little way from the dance floor. She didn't really expect anyone to ask her to dance and felt happy enough to watch the others have fun and fall in love.
