[Malikah might be at home here, but this lady certainly doesn't look it. If anyone could give off a stronger impression of "took a wrong turn at Albuquerque" than Grune...well, it would be pretty amazing. All she needs is a bluebird perched on her finger for her image of unsullied innocence to be complete.

Oh, no. I just wanted to come in and explore!

[She looks about a bit.] This is a nice place, isn't it?

It is pretty nice, yes. [It's the largest one Malikah's ever been to, and that's saying a lot considering she's been to a lot of bars and watering holes in general. The dazzly lights are new for her, though.] You ever been to a bar before? [Sounds odd to be asking that of someone who appears to be a grown woman which I totally did not almost typo as "a Grune woman", but Grune doesn't really seem to Malikah like the type to frequent places like this.]

[This turns out to be a surprisingly difficult question. Grune places her fingertip against her cheek and considers the question.]

Hmm.... I wonder.

[Malikah smirks, an expression equal parts amused and confused.]

You don't know?

Oh, well, I think I've been to one before. [She pauses.] Or have I?

[A question for the ages.]

[...okay, any notions Malikah might've had about seducing this woman for the night have gone right out the window, because Grune is reminding her a little too much of Sophie, and "Sophie" and "seduce" in the same sentence are just all kinds of yeah-let's-not-even-go-there (unless the sentence were something like "don't you dare try to seduce Sophie or you will get your colon punched out").

She is, however, more than willing to stay by Grune's side while here at the bar. There's bound to be a lot of other less savory types around who would have no compunctions about taking advantage of Grune's innocence, and anyway Malikah herself doesn't have any particular appointments to keep.]

Well, if you don't have anyone to see here, I'd be glad to keep you company. Only if you don't mind, of course.

[Even if Grune is off the menu, Malikah can still enjoy the sun-bright smile she directs her way at the offer.]

I don't mind at all! It would be very nice to spend some time with you.

[...Oh, yes.] My name is Grune! What's your name?

I'm Malikah. It's a pleasure to meet you, Grune. [She'll link arms with Grune to lead her to the open bar.]

[And Grune is happily led. She loves close contact with friends--which is what she now considers Malikah.]

[...But the question is harder than it might seem to be on the surface. Grune pauses where she is to think about it.]

Ah, so you've never had alcohol before. I see. [She's quickly getting a handle on the kind of person Grune is.] Well, I'll order something nice for you, then.

[She actually has had alcohol before, thanks to some spectacularly poor judgment on Cecil's part and a lack of supervision at a beach party, but that's it. Most people know enough to keep it away from her.]

Oh, thank you. That would be very nice.

[She gives her a warm smile.]

but Malikah being drunk under the table can't come quickly enough --

[Malikah quickly calls over the bartender to order drinks -- straight bourbon for herself and a grasshopper cocktail for Grune. When they arrive, Malikah slides over Grune's glass, then holds up her own.]

A toast to a new friendship.

[Grune looks delighted with Malikah's choice for her--it's so pretty! --and she raises her glass with enthusiasm.]

To a new friendship!

[...And then she drains the entire thing. :|]

[Granted, with her own alcohol tolerance, Malikah could probably down the entire thing in one gulp, herself, but she wouldn't necessarily suggest that to other folks.]

[She gives her a mildly confused look...all the while showing no signs that she just did alcoholing totally wrong.]

Well...it's not really a good idea to drink that sort of thing in one swallow. [Shots notwithstanding.] You could end up getting sick pretty quickly. [As opposed to getting sick slowly by nursing a couple of drinks over the course of a night.]

Hmm.... Like having too many sweets all at once? [Asks the woman who's never been sick a day in her very, very long life.]
