There's every reason to bother, Sherlock. I'm sorry John doesn't want to see you, I really am. But you can't just hole yourself up at Baker Street for the rest of your life.
[ he can't even elaborate. it's just an awful idea, for... multiple reasons - as much as he'd enjoy seeing Rosie. John made it very clear that Sherlock wasn't wanted in his life, and seeing his daughter without his express permission was probably... a bad idea.
but heY THANKS MOLLY NOW SHERLOCK IS EVEN SADDER.
good thing he has a way of coping with said sadness!! ]
What do you mean 'no'? She's still your Goddaughter, for Christ's sake.
[If it was such a problem, Molly would even ask. She's sure she'd be able to persuade John to that. She understands that John doesn't want Sherlock around, nor does he want his help - but a walk in the park is hardly that problematic.
Look she is trying to help. Both her friends are becoming hermits and she hates it. :(]
he'd rather have anyone else. I would imagine the meaning rings especially true for his daughter SH
[ he has a plan in motion. one that will... hopefully fix this. and if it doesn't - well, that won't matter either. schrodinger's plan: on the one hand, it ends in reunion, and on the other hand... it just ends. foolproof, really.
he's not sure which one it'll be. some days he thinks John will come through for him and others he wonders why he would try at all.
honestly, as far as plans go, this is probably one of the more reckless things he's ever set out to do, but this is all he has. so he'll stick to it, alongside Wiggins who potters around his flat and makes noise to drown out the silence that had slowly been killing him since John removed himself from his life. he'll keep himself distracted, because it's better than the alternative. it's when caring is not an advantage, Sherlock rings out throughout his head that he knows it's time for another dose. his brother has no business dictating his emotional responses when the man has none to speak of himself.
[It takes her a while to respond, to say anything else. His response hurts and she cringes miserably at her phone.
She hates this. She hates that Mary's gone. She hates that John and Sherlock aren't speaking and then both men have saw fit to curl up in their holes and stay there. Molly and Mrs Hudson have been left in the middle, almost walking on egg shells.
She would rather have him being cruel to her. The usual utter bastard he can be. And that's saying something.
you and I both know it would do no good. this is for the best SH
[ he hates that he wants to ask after him. that he wants to see if he's hurting, if he's still drinking. if he's fallen down the same pit of disassociation - but it's not his place, and it would be too obvious besides.
he might have been defensive, were he sober. as it stands, he is numb and his anger is hard to reach, just like everything else. he's floating above reality, not really engaging, not really acting.
existing. that's all he does, whiling away the hours.
but all of this is getting too close to home. too personal. she may be under the impression that he wants to be emotive, but that's really not what he needs. so, time to change the subject lest it becomes worse. ]
[She probably shouldn't have sent that, she even chides herself for it but it's certainly what she feels.
She knows something is so wrong here, how dismissive he is. So... defeated. The worry gnaws away at her in her chest. Of course she cares, she's always cared.
[ he ignores that first text. rising to the bait isn't worth it; some days, Sherlock wonders whether any of this is sane, whether any of it is worth it in the long run. but those days are easy to disengage from.
it's not worth the conversation, though. it's just not. ]
bees, Molly! They make a small 'whoops' noise when startled! SH
[She's not really happy with him, all things considered. Not in the slightest. However, tomorrow is another day - she can always try again. She makes a mental note to go see him - maybe after, when she doesn't have Rosie.
She certainly isn't going to give up on him that easily. That much is obvious.
