Made Together

a dark shipping meme
tl;dr version — a meme that explores a shipping concept from a darker perspective. Characters, brainwashed by losing their memories and other scientific deviancies, are bonded with their "lifemate," who they're said to be created for. They must live together and grow co-dependently close, all while the machinations behind the scene are twirling like cogs in order to move them closer to the darkness.
Anyone can be manipulated. You just need to work at them through the right person.
You wake up, groggy and confused, in a white room that is expansive and furnished with all white furniture, yet pristine. The white is probably so bright that it hurts your eyes and you may have to blink for a moment. It doesn't help that your body is swathed in white, too; you're wearing what appears to be a modern day white cotton scrub top and and bottom. In fact, the only spot of black on you is on the palm of your hand: right in the center, there's a barcode. Under that, in neat, angular print, is a name. Your name.
It's a good thing it's there because otherwise, you wouldn't know it. Your memories are gone. You don't know how you got here, why you're here, or much of anything else. Soon, however, you'll know that you're not alone. The other person is not you're captor, that much is for sure. They're clothed like you are and look just as confused. They even have the exact same barcode as you, down to the last number. The only thing that differs is the name under it.
But the room is furnished for one alone. One bed, one couch, one bathroom. You two don't know much, yet you know you are two. The secret is soon made clear by a voice over a hidden loudspeaker. The voice claims to be a scientist and announces the purpose of you being here. This is the first day of your existence, they say, and you two were created together and for each other. Lifemates, the term is. You both are the perfect scientific experiment, and let man not tear asunder what science hath created.
And that's it.
Accept this or not, there seems to be little recourse. The room has no visible entrance or exit. The walls don't budge if you hit them. Nothing works. The only time anything changes is when food is brought in, but neither of you have ever seen that occasion. No matter how long you stay up, you always fall asleep when food or other necessities come in. Could that have something to do with the soft, soothing voices and pleasant feelings that sometimes come when you least except them?
You and your "lifemate" may be mutually scared, get along swimmingly from the start. It doesn't matter. Eventually, you'll become closer and closer. Lines will get crossed. Boundaries will get obliterated. Maybe it's because they're the only lifeline you have. Or maybe, maybe what the "scientist" said is right. You're created for each other, and this is your natural state. Whatever the case may be, as time goes on, you want to stay with them, even if you still want to leave this place. After all, how could you leave the side of the person you've spent your whole life with.
Yet there's something in your mind that tells you there's wrong here. Sometimes, at night, you'll get images of another life, and later, during the day, you'll feel hints of an existence you've never known. Luckily, you have your lifemate to get you through this.
HOW TO PLAY
- Basically, your character has no memories and are power-nerfed...for some options.
- Reply with your character and preferences. Also be sure to mention whether or not you'll play smut, since some options are smut-tinged.
- Reply to others!
PROMPTS
- First Meeting — You've just woken up and are getting the news.
- Learning about Each Other — Though you don't have memories, you still have personalities to navigate.
- Distaste — You don't like each other. How are you created for each other at all?
- Guard — While one sleeps, the other looks on. Why does their sleeping form bring up so much fondness?
- Unwittingly — You didn't want to give in, yet you find yourself being pulled in by your companion and growing protective of them.
- Closeness — Soft words grow into soft touches, embraces, tiny kisses, and a gentle (relatively) haven.
- Initiating — The first time you're going to be intimate, or the five millionth time, it will be on your own terms.
- Need You Now — You've grown reliant on your "lifemate" to keep you calm or even take care of you, whether you want to admit it or not. You may even need them beside you to sleep or
- Physicality — Your relationship has a full-on carnal aspect. What else is there to do?
- Twisted by Science — Your emotions have been tampered with to make you love your lifemate more because you weren't responding.
- Pure Love — Despite the situation, what you feel for your companion is real. You truly love them, even if you haven't told them.
- Connection — In some cases, lifemates have been known to have a mental connection, where they can share some thoughts and all pain.
- Aphrodisiac — The sexual bonding between the two of you isn't progressing in a way it should, so one or both of you is injected with a potent aphrodisiac. That should do the trick.
- Implanted Memories — You remember happy times with your lifemate. Surely those memories are real.
- Flashbacks — You remember another life, and it doesn't match up with what you know.
- Nightmares — Waking up in the middle of the night, sweating in fear is never a wonderful experience. Luckily, you have someone close by to cheer you up...if you want to worry them with your dreams.
- No One but You — You've decided to ignore the scientists and make the best of what you have, carving out a little life together.
- Scientist — You're not actually a lifemate, you're a scientist! However, you've developed pesky feelings for one of your subjects.
- Breeding Stock — You're not humans, you're animals, and the scientists want you to breed as such.
- Protect — You'll fight off anyone to protect your lifemate, scientists included.
- Power Surge — What are these powers that have suddenly appeared? You've never had these! Your lifemate should stay back, lest you hurt them.
- Training Together — New equipment has been put into your living quarters and you've been told to learn to work together perfectly. Whether you're both fighters or one is a fighter and the other their handler or healer, you must fit as well in battle as you do in life.
- The Veil Falls — The curtain is raised, and you see that you're not an experiment. You had a life that's been stolen from you. Your mate had one, too. What will you do with this new knowledge?
- Wish to Forget — Instead of being angry or glad about your past existence, you're horrified by what it was like and only want to live in the now with your lifemate.
- To Garner a Response — The scientists want to see how you'd respond if your lifemate was hurt.
- A Task Given — In order to guarantee the safety of your lifemate, you have to do a certain task. Maybe hurting someone else isn't a big deal as long as you get what's yours back.
- A Taste of Freedom — You and your lifemate are allowed out, but you have a job to do.
- Separated — You've been disobedient and as such, you two will be punished by separation.
- Escape — There's a tiny window of opportunity to get out. Take it. But no one gets left behind, even if you would have before.
- Separate Ways — Now that you're out, there's no reason to stay together, right? You're not really lifemates, right?
- Can't Be Without You — ...only not, because now you're dependent on each other, and you can't live a life alone or with another.
- Hard Time Adjusting — It's different living in the free world when you're used to being in a completely controlled habitat.
- Living a Peaceful Life — You've managed to get past all the challenges and are now living a normal life together. But did the scientists ultimately win? After all, you are still "lifemates"...and there's still the trauma to deal with...
- ANYTHING ELSE or WILDCARD OPTION!!!

Re: himeko inaba ー kokoro connect ( ota )
The images come hard and fast, a kaleidoscope of things that make no sense whatsoever.
Voices mocking him and saying his parents paid for him to be where he is.
A feeling of longing when looking at a tall building.
Something about a "game center" and a soft thumb pressed into his palm.
People, places, feelings he just doesn't understand.
All he knows is that they hurt.]
Agh!!
[But Hinata still wakes up in that white, white room. Heart pounding, head aching, and soaked in sweat. And for the first time since he's woken up here, it feels wrong in a way he can't describe.]
no subject
Flashes of faces come forward from the recesses of her mind. She knows them each by name, or at least she should. In the dream, she tries to grasp those names, those feelings.
Words that she doesn't understand. Someone who asks her if she's alright. And she tries to reassure him there, in her dreams. She's fine, she's fine, she's-
"I'm not okay."
That's wrong, she thinks. She can't possibly be not okay. There's never been a time in the world where she isn't, at least not when Hinata...
But he's not here. Not in the flashes of images, flashes of something that she feels and that scares her. He's not her friend. He's closer than that. Does that make him the same as these people in here? Is she not supposed to trust him? Is he supposed to be an even worse enemy than these people whose names she can't even recall?
She wants to reach out to get the name of the person she's speaking to, but it slips from her hands like water as her eyelids jerk awake, ears ringing at the sound of Hinata's voice next to her. ]
Hinata!
[ Memory forgotten for the time being, she puts all her focus on the person beside her. He's important, he's her lifemate after all. And through all of that worry, she tries to wrap an arm around him, trying to bring him closer to her. Her problems don't seem to matter in comparison. ]
It's just a... dream. It's okay, see? It's just me. Nothing to be afraid of.
[ For some reason, saying dream sounds wrong on the tip of her tongue, but she can't seem to grasp why. ]
no subject
I-Inaba?
[His voice sounds so small and broken, and Hinata hates it.
But her presence is so soothing. He'd been very reluctant, for some reason, to open up to her at first. But as time went on she became so dear to him. Vital, even. He needs her.
And he really needs her right now.
With a choked sound, Hinata crushes her against him.] Ina-
[...Na. Na...?
Huh? What? What's...
Hinata swears her hair is pink for a second, but he blinks and it's gone. He's imagining it. He's losing it from that weird dream or whatever it was. Taking a deep breath, Hinata lets himself feel the warmth of her against him and lets the tension unwind in his limbs.]
...I'm sorry, Inaba. I don't know what's happening to me. [His voice trembles slightly.] Just now... It was so strange just now. I saw so many things I'd never seen before, but... They felt familiar...
[He hugs her closer. His head is still hurting badly.] I feel like I'm losing my mind.
no subject
But when he apologizes, she just simply shakes her head slightly. Even though it hurts how her ribs feel like they're being crushed, she doesn't mind it, not really.
The set of her shoulders finally relax however when she's finally able to speak, keeping her tone even. ]
It's fine. You don't have to apologize, Hinata. Do you want to talk about it? I don't mind listening.
no subject
...But that's why he's here for her. Even feeling weak and scared like he does right now, Hinata will take care of her when she can't take care of herself.]
It was just... so strange. There were people I'm sure I've never met, places I've never been to before, but... Even as I saw those things, just as I was sure I'd never experienced any of it, I was just as sure that I had. That- that doesn't even make sense. I mean, how can you know you've never done something before but also be absolutely sure that you've done the same thing?
[He buries his face in the junction between her neck and her shoulder.]
You know I second guess everything in here, and I have trouble trusting anything that we're told. But... I-I trust you now. I want to be with you, and that... The dream felt like it was pulling me towards the things I was seeing and threatening what I have with you here. [His throat feels like it's getting tighter and tighter.] I can't stand it here. I hate the things that we're told to do and what's done to us... But Inaba, I like you so much. I care about you so much... I could care less what happens to this place, but I don't want to lose you.
no subject
Sorry about that, Hinata... unless he actually likes it then she's not sorry!! ]
It's fine. To tell you the truth, I had a dream similar to that. Well, it was probably different than yours, but--
[ She doesn't want to lie to him. If she does, she knows that she can potentially ruin everything. But she doesn't want that. When he tells her that he trusts her implicitly, she can't help but let out a hollow laugh, her other free arm pulling him closer to her. Even though there's nothing to be scared of, there shouldn't be, she can't help but tremble slightly. ]
You're not going to lose me, Hajime.
[ Opting to call him by first name this time in such a dire situation, she can't help but think about what he means to her. Maybe at first they had their troubles, but now it's completely different.
She can't lose him just like she lost-
Wincing slightly, she can feel her head pound, as if on the verge of a recollection, but Inaba shakes it away. She's just overthinking because they both had such a strange dream. One that felt real. It must be some sort of hoax or a trick that those guys were doing. An experiment on their dreams, maybe?
It's fine, though. Hinata's here. She's here. They're alive, they're together. ]
I promise. [ Her gaze shifts away a bit uncomfortably, if only because her cheeks are lighting up in embarrassment. ] I-I love you too. Geez... this is really cheesy. But no matter what happens, if that really wasn't a dream, please don't leave me alone.
[ Her voice is shaky and she can feel her fingers trembling a little bit, but at least she's being honest. ]
no subject
and hopefully Inaba doesn't hear the bitten back sound that he makes, but it's the use of his given name and stating her feelings so openly that sets Hinata's heart pounding against his chest. Hinata pulls back to look at her, subconsciously leaning into the unsteady fingers carding through his hair, and meets her gaze with his own flustered one.]I will never leave your side. I don't care how cheesy or over-sentimental it sounds... I'll stay with you til the day I die, Himeko.
[His face feels hot with the exposure of his feelings, but the way he says it shows how earnest and sincere his words to her. It doesn't matter if he's embarrassed right now; Hinata knows she needs to hear his honest thoughts, so it's a small price to pay.]
H-hey, it's... okay to say that, right? [His embarrassment is still prominent, however, and it shows.] It's okay for me to use your first name and say how I really feel, right? [He leans towards her a little, closing the space between them, and has to beat back a strong urge to press their foreheads together. Hinata lets out a weak chuckle, half nerves and half something else.] You know me so well now... You knew exactly what I wanted to say even though I was too nervous to say... that... I-I really want to say it now, though.
[He should wait for permission, probably, but the admittance slips out without any thought, feeling completely natural.]
I love you, Himeko.
no subject
[ Okay, considering how dumb that sounds she can't help but snort, just a little bit. It's ridiculous, just how it is but at the same time it's ridiculously touching and kind of him. ]
Stupid. [ Even though she says that, like the hypocrite she is she decides to lean in close enough to quickly press her lips on his. ] It's embarrassing to hear my name, to be honest.
no subject
Sorry. I won't call you that if you don't me to. [His resolve is weak, though; he gives in and kisses her. It's chaste, but it still lingers a bit.] It... feels really nice saying it, though. It feels right.
no subject
[ Of course, it takes her a few seconds to process what she just said, not immediately recognizing what fell from her lips before her gaze widens, eyes watering as she gasps, bringing her hands to her lips as if to stop herself from making the same mistake twice, chewing on her lower lip to keep herself quiet. ]
Wait, I-- [ She didn't mean to say that. Trembling, she pulls away crom him with wet eyes as she shakes her head. ]
no subject
Hi... meko...?
[His eyes are burning. They feel wet. He's crying, isn't he?
You're not going to lose me, Hajime.
I-I love you too.
He has no talent.
You can just pay your way in.
No, no, no, no...! He can't, Hinata can't do this, this feeling is unbearable-!]
Himeko. [Her first name feels like milk that's started to sour in his mouth, but there's still a part of him that feels his heart quicken when he talks to her, and it refuses to let him call her Inaba. He loves her still, but this is so unbelievably painful. He can't even process it.] Why... Who is Taichi? Why... Why...?!
[He wants to reach out to her so badly. Just touch her or hold her, but his hand hovers uselessly in the air, trembling slightly with the ache that seems to be resounding through his whole body.]
no subject
She shouldn't be recalling people like this. Names, faces, memories, they're all coming flooding back to her and it hurts. It hurts because she feels like she's betraying Hinata. And at the same time, she's betraying Taichi, too.
It's a stab to the back and she wants to throw her memories away again. She hates that she wants this. If she discarded her lost memories, she could have been happy. She could have been. But now- ]
Haji- [ No, she doesn't have the right to call him by first name. She chews on her nail and glances away guiltily. Even though they were told that this was all they knew, that's a lie, isn't it? ] I'm sorry, Hinata. I just remembered. Taichi was- [ no, let her correct herself ] is my boyfriend.
[ She's expecting the worst. She's expecting him to hate her, despise her, abandon her because of how horrible of a person she is. A traitor. ]
I'm sorry, you... probably don't want anything to do with someone like me anymore, right? I mean, I'm essentially cheating on him, you know.
[ Her voice is choking out and she's crying even harder now that the tears are pouring out of her eyes, falling down the sides of her cheeks like a river that can't be stopped. She brings her hands to cover her face and shakes her head dismissively, as if that would help. It doesn't. ]
And yet- [ She sucks in a breath, sniffling slightly. ] I promised that you wouldn't lose me.
[ And now she's conflicted, because her feelings are completely split. She loves Hinata. Enough that she could possibly sacrifice herself for him. But Taichi, he's... important to her. Important to the Inaba Himeko of before, and she can't deny that feeling. She wants to run. Run far away.
Except for the fact that's impossible, isn't it?
That would mean-
"I'd just make things worse if I went."
"Is that why you didn't do anything when Nagase yelled?"
"Everything would go to hell in a handbasket if I got involved."
She should seclude herself, put back up her barriers and keep Hinata away from her now. That's the best course of action, isn't it? She can't get him involved. He can't let him date her or love her, so it's better that he hates her. That's what he should do. Turning on her heel, she keeps her back towards him, voice dropping cold. ]
If you want to hate me, go ahead and hate me all you want, Hinata. I deserve it, after all.
no subject
All that's left is the hate in his heart for himself because of the shaken but still-strong love for Inaba.
There's a bitter kind of irony in all of this, and Hinata would laugh if he could work it up. He's so screwed up inside, isn't he?
He doesn't wrap his arms around her like he wants to, but can't help letting his forehead drop against her back. Surely she'll reject even this contact, but... But...]
...I don't hate you, Himeko. I could never, ever hate you. I- I still love you, and that's so terrible of me, isn't it...? I'm sorry. You... You have someone else that you must love, and here I am still using your given name and shoving these feelings on you... I-I'm so sorry.
[His eyes are burning and his throat is so tight. Hinata doesn't want to cry. He hates crying, hates the way it makes him feel weak, but he's so close right now.]
You're wrong, though. The terrible one is me. I'm the one that should be hated, not you. It's not your fault that you forgot... I'm positive it's the people who put us in here. They're always doing weird things to us, so it... only makes sense.
[He still doesn't know if the things he saw were memories or just a dream, or perhaps even something that they implanted into his brain. But he won't bring it up now. Not yet, if Inaba even still wants to speak to him after this. But right this moment would only make everything worse.]
And I... I still can't get rid of these feelings. Even though I know that you have someone else... It hurts so bad, it feels like I'm breaking into pieces, but I can't stop. [Hinata finally laughs, and the first tear finally falls from his eye.] Himeko, I'm so messed up, aren't I?
no subject
There's a greedy part of her heart that wants this. She wants him to stay with her, because if he leaves, she'll be alone. But she can't help but question herself. Her thoughts, her feelings. Are they all lies? It scares her to the point where she can't help but hug her shoulders, shuddering as nails dig into the fabric of her clothes.
He's still... calling her by name. It's a name that she finds so disgusting because of its meaning. Hime, like a princess who needs to be coddled and protected by a prince on a white horse. ko, like a child, someone who is too immature to become intelligent. She wants to cry. She wants to curl up into a ball in the corner of the room and cry, but she feels that the one who's on the verge isn't her, but him. And it's all her fault, isn't it? She's the one with a boyfriend, one who may or may not be alive.
Those scientists tinkered with their heads, their memories, told them that they were lifemates, but for what reason? No matter how many times she tries to analyze it, the end point makes not sense to her. Was it just to do human experimentation? To test what would happen? Disgusting. ]
I...
[ She should say it, shouldn't she? That she doesn't hate him. How could she? Really, all she wants to do is hold him close and tell him that it's okay, that he can love her. Things could go back to normal from then on and the nightmare would end. But things don't work out that way. She can't do this.
Shaking her head, she keeps her voice even. She needs to be colder to him. Brush him off so he doesn't love her anymore. Any explanation would do, so just do it- ]
How do you know that love is real, Hinata Hajime? [ She has to be cruel. She has to make him hate her. She has to be the truly terrible one as she blinks away any possible tears that tempt to fall before finally moving away from him, turning around to look at him with cold eyes. ] Those people could have fabricated our emotions as well, if they tampered with our memories. Besides, if that's the case and our lives here were 'fake' to begin with... you really know nothing about me, now do you? Because the Himeko you thought you loved doesn't exist. That girl is just a fabric of your imagination, in the end.
Merry Christmas, Len :' )
Hajime. Stop. You have to stop. Hinata doesn't realize how fast his breathing is until he has to snap himself out of it. He wants to hold Inaba so badly, but he wraps his arms around himself instead, knowing she probably doesn't want him touching her. Feels how badly his whole body is shaking, and wonders if Inaba can feel it too.
It... doesn't matter if she does, though, does it? Since she must hate him now anyway. She didn't deny it, after all, so...]
...I don't think something fake would hurt this much. But maybe that feeling isn't real either.
[...He feels so broken.
So lonely.]
Maybe these things are all based off of fake thoughts and emotions. Maybe what I'm about to say doesn't matter at all.
[He'll push these words out, though. It's okay if she hates him. But he wants her to know...]
Even if that's the case, this pain that I'm feeling right now is tangible and real. Whatever happened to lead up to this... We're in this moment right now, feeling the things we're feeling. [He smiles, even though she can't see it.] Like how I still love you, and now you hate me, right?
And maybe this doesn't matter either, but... If even a fraction of the you that I've come to know is part of the real Inaba Himeko, I think I would be able to fall in love with you again. I know it's not my place, but I would learn you all over again... That's probably someone else's job, though.
...Taichi, right? Your boyfriend. That was his name, right? That part before, when you meant to say it was okay for me to use your name but said his instead... I bet that's one part of you that's real, you know? Maybe that's something you said to him once. [Hinata lets out a small, broken sound that started as a chuckle.] I-it's... It's really cute, you know? I bet it made him happy.
[He swallows, hard.]
I don't know much you hate me right now. M-maybe you can't even stand the sight of me... [His breath hitches, and Hinata feels that trembling increase as the panic shoots through him again, but he controls it enough to continue talking, though he pitches his voice quieter in case they're being listened to. Hopefully his voice isn't heard by them, though.] But I really want you to be happy. I still care about you so much... So I'll help you try to find a way out of here if they don't let us go. And then I'll help you find Taichi somehow, wherever he is.
no subject
And as much as she wants to apologize, cry and hold him tight, she can't do that, either. His words sting in her chest, because of how honest he is. It's almost enough to steal her breath and silence her, but instead of that, she can't help but laugh. She laughs and laughs, the sound of it like broken tiles. ]
Please, don't... be nice to me, Hajime.
[ She can't stand it. She wants him so badly. He's right there, within her reach, but at the same time he's so far, so distant. ]
Don't love me, Hajime. I don't deserve it. [ Her voice trembles and she can feel herself shudder. It's tempting to cry, but she blinks back the tears anyway. ] And you deserve better. You're right, though... I did tell Taichi that, before.
[ Now that she recalls it, just a little bit, it hurts. But she keeps her voice even, her hands by her sides. ]
I've... never thought of my name as cute before. But that's not important. You just shouldn't love me. [ Fuck. She can't hide the fact that her voice cracks. She doesn't want to say this with such a pained voice. Because she knows that all she wants is to hold him in her arms and keep him close. To give into her emotions and not care about the past. But she can't. ] Please.
no subject
You... called me Hajime again...
[It feels like something broken is quietly being mended.
...But he won't allow for the cost to be Inaba breaking instead. He'll shatter himself over and over if he has to.]
I'm sorry... What you're asking of me is the one thing I can't do. Not loving you... That's something I just can't do. [He bites his lip for a minute, trying to find his words. He has to be careful with what he says.] What happened to bring me here, if someone implanted thoughts or feelings into me - I don't care. I don't care anymore, because nothing that happened in the past changes what's happening right now. It doesn't change the fact that I love you with my whole heart.
[Hinata bows his head. Something hot is burning in his chest - passion, that's what it is. Passion and determination. He's felt like this before, he thinks, but it's... been a long time.
There's a slight ache in his head, something flickers through his mind's eye - the edge of a reassuring smile, maybe. It doesn't effect him the way Inaba's memories have, though, if he can even call that a memory; it brings him comfort.
Hinata doesn't know how much of the things he saw were real. He doesn't know if that person he keeps thinking he saw is waiting for him like Taichi may be waiting for Inaba. But if they are, he knows that this is still okay. This is right.]
I'll keep loving you and being kind to you, Himeko. [He says her first name deliberately this time, and there's a wealth of meaning in his tone.] I'll keep loving you until you can see that you deserve it... Because you're the one I want to be with. I know that you must love Taichi... It would only be fair if you did. And I won't force my feelings on you, if he's the one that you want to be with.
[Hinata lifts his head again, and if Inaba were facing him, she'd see the conviction burning in his eyes.] But you are someone worthy of being loved. And I won't allow anyone to say that you don't deserve to be. Not Taichi - and not even you.
I don't know where he is, or how he feels about you right now. But if he won't love you until it sinks in that you deserve it... then I will.
no subject
You're just going to hurt yourself by loving me, Hajime... [ It's difficult for her to speak, but manages to choke that out. He's so close to her that he can most likely feel her shoulders shudder. ] I don't want you to hurt yourself. If you get hurt, I don't know what to do.
no subject
[This feeling... It's definitely familiar, somehow. But it isn't important right now; Hinata can figure it out for himself after... Well. After.]
It's my choice to choose who I love and don't love. And I'm choosing you.
Besides... [A small, modest chuckle leaves him.] Give me a little credit, you know? I know what I'm signing up for here, and I'm strong enough to handle it.
...Loving you is worth wading through a little pain, Himeko.
[And Hinata isn't sure if this is the right decision, if this is really the right way to respond to this, but-
Very gently, very carefully, Hinata wraps his arms around Inaba's shoulders.]
no subject
[ Even though her voice is shaking and her hands are trembling, she can't find it in herself to calm down entirely. It's hard to say. ]
Please, tell me. Is this really... okay?
no subject
[She hasn't rejected his touch yet, so maybe... Maybe she really does...
Hinata won't let his hopes get up. But he'll love her either way.]
If it's not little, that's okay too. Because... It won't change how I feel.

[ But who is she to judge? ] You're stupid, and yet...
[ She's going to regret this. She knows it, instinctively, and yet she decides to go all in as she lifts her heels to kiss him. Surprise? ]

[The kiss catches him completely off guard. For a moment, he's wide-eyed and frozen, trying to register that this is even happening. But then he lets his eyes flutter shutter, a little embarrassed by the noise that escapes from the back of his throat, some cross between relief and longing. Hinata kisses her back, though, hands firm on her shoulders but holding himself back from crushing Inaba against him the way he wants to. It takes a moment of feeling moisture on his face to realize that he just might be crying, if only a little.
Hinata is tentative at first, still feeling a little fragile from everything that's transpired, but that quickly falls away as the constricting, panicky feeling finally slides off of him. Hinata catches himself just as he instinctively moves his lips to deepen the kiss. Even as he pulls back, though, he can't bring himself to go far away. His forehead is pressed against her own, just like it had been what feels like an eternity ago, and his lips are still close enough to Inaba's that they brush when he speaks.]
Himeko...
[He... doesn't know what else to say besides her name. It's like the kiss has stolen his words. Hinata hopes everything he's feeling is packed into her name, though, because he doesn't know if he can manage more than that.
Except... for maybe one thing.]
...I love you. I really do.

While there might be some lingering regret that rests in her chest, she opts to ignore it for this longing feeling that catches her almost off guard.
It makes her a little strange, a bit lonely when their lips part. His face is so close to hers and she hopes so badly that he can't hear the racing of her heart thumping against her rib cage. The flush of her cheeks don't leave; instead, they're accentuated with her lowered gaze, dark eyes shifting away from his own as his words can be heard, music to her ears.
And it doesn't help that she can feel his breath with each syllable that passes through his lips. ]
I- [ Chewing on her lower lip, she can't help but feel frightened; terrified, even. ] It's weird to love two people, don't you think?

Maybe it isn't the norm, but... It's not necessarily a bad thing, is it?
[An image streaks through his mind's eye, pink hair again, but it's not insistent. The way it comes to him is almost... gentle, there and gone before he can linger on it too long. Just there to reassure and soothe, but not to be a burden.]
You can't help your feelings. If you want to love both Taichi and I... I don't think that's wrong. [He lets out a breath, a little bit shaky. Thinking about earlier is still hard, still raw, but it feels like he can breathe more easily again.] I don't know where Taichi is and how he would feel about it, but... It's alright with me. Not being loved by you at all- [Hinata's voice breaks, and he blinks his eyes quickly.] ...That's what hurt me, what made me feel like I was being broken apart. But if I can have your love in any way... That's more than enough for me.
