Speak your love language
![]() When it comes to the way affection is shown, everyone has a different way they go about it. That means that there's a pretty good chance, with regards to couples, you could end up with two people who have two varying approaches towards how they prove they care...sometimes radically varying, which can lead to more than a little confusion or hurt feelings if there's not proper communication. But when both people are on the same page, they can tell each other how they feel with few words. ☄ Comment with your character, info, prefs, and how your character will likely show affection. |

So starting off with words/subtle because Cloud's a shy nerd...
Of course, ideally he shouldn't be typing up emails at all. Ideally he should be saying this to Zack to his face, whenever they meet next but the idea sends a thrill through him that he's not sure whether it's worry for future embarrassment because he might make a mess out of it, or... he doesn't know.
Zack,
You probably don't remember it, but, thanks for helping me back to my feet that time in the VR room.
No, Zack wouldn't know that one squat competition he got pulled into by some of the infantry that one time had involved Cloud. Cloud had just been pushed in there and told to do his best. He barely had, being a little... distracted... by the SOLDIER he was competing against.
He'd honestly been so very surprised back then to be offered a hand up. And while he'd intended to tell Zack how much he appreciated the speech back when they were sent off, he... isn't quite able to make it sound like he wants to. So this email gets sent instead, and immediately after he's done so, Cloud regrets it.
But at least using email means he's not instantly embarrassing himself, and Zack, when they meet again, won't laugh at him in a way that'll make him feel humiliated.]
aww but i love this shy nerd he's so cute
( he doesn't judge, would never think to, and if he's perfectly honest? getting random messages on his phs throughout the day tend to break up the monotony. he likes it. appreciates it. it's the little things, you know? )
when he hears the alert for a new message, muscle memory has him reaching to bring the device out of his pocket without any sort of second thought attached, and though it's short, the words make him smile, and almost immediately he's drafting up a response.
You don't think I've got THAT bad of a memory, do you? Of course I remember. What kind of friend would I be if I hadn't helped, huh?
Don't mention it.
he presses the send button, flips the device closed and drops it back into his pocket. cloud might still be a little shy, especially around him – but it's the little things, like a few words here and there, that brighten his days in increments.
he always likes hearing from him, no matter the subject. )
Cloud would like to inform you he's *not* cute!
When he gets the chance to actually check his messages again - after the class he'd been stuck in, having sent the email before he went in. Otherwise he wouldn't have gotten the nerve to send it at all - Cloud snorts and finds an out of the way spot.
The next few words are much easier to type than the whole email earlier, as short as it was.
I had my helmet on! You had no idea who I was... don't tell me you remember every random person you help.
He's not sure he'll believe you, Zack. At all. On the other hand... Nope. Shaking his head and biting his lip to hide a reluctant smile, Cloud sends that email off too ignoring the heat in the pit of his stomach. It's just... nice. Having an actual friend.]
