[Party is at work when Brad comes back from the studio. He had errands to do in the morning, work in the evening--not his usual schedule, but he was asked to swap and whatever. The guys are writing, so Brad's usually wiped when he gets home anyway.

[But when he comes in, Brad will hear growling. Or purring? Or growling. Or...really aggressive purring. There's an unpacked plastic bag on the counter, an small sheaf of papers next to it from the SPCA, and a really loud, really aggressive growlpurr.

[No cat to actually be seen. Surprise.]

[ Huh. Well, that's a weird sound. Brad's never had any sort of pet before, cat, dog, hamster, whatever -- so when he comes into the house and drops his keys and stuff on the counter, he blinks and glances around. He also gets distracted by the papers, which he picks up and looks though, with a half grin.

And then Brad looks up, looking for the source of the growlpurr, rubbing at the back of his neck with a fuller, dorky grin. Oh man. ] Uhh... here, kitty kitty?

[When he passes the couch, he'll see a black flick of fur, a little tail peeking out the bottom. The noise abruptly stops as Brad nears.

[SOON.]

[ When Brad sees the tail, he pretty much squeaks. It's embarrassing and not manly at all, and he slaps a hand over his mouth after, hoping Party is not in the house.

After a pause, he slinks over to the couch and sits down in front of it, grinning, reaching to tap the tail sticking out. ]

[If he taps the tail, he'll get a tap back from a ginger-brown paw, and the tail disappears.

[Give it a second.

[The cat pokes its head out, yellow eyes scraping around for the intruder.]

[ Ohgawd it's so cute. Brad's grin gets bigger, if possible, and he pauses for a second to let the cat look at him before offering his hand for it to sniff. ]

[It sniffs, sure, but then his fingers get another bat. It's paw stutters in the air, claws just barely peeking out. Under the couch, there's a thunk-thunk-thunk of its tail.]

[brolociraptor]

[ Brad pulls his hand away after getting batted at, laughing a bit. ] Jeeze, I should've known you'd be like Party. [ He mumbles, making a face at the cat. ] Come on, come... out here. [ Maybe he can bribe the kitty out with a snack or something. ]

[gloryisbullshit]

[There's a little can of noisy treats in the bag, wedged between the littler and the actual food. Go ahead, Brad, shake it around! It'll bring the cat out, head down and tail snapping back and forth. Black and brown mottled, it lays on the floor about a yard away, shoulders shifting in anticipation.

[It meows!]

[brolociraptor]

[ He does! And it lures the cat out, just as planned. Brad pulls one of the treats out and settles back down onto the floor, holding it out. All he wants to do is pet you, kitty -- he will bribe you. There's also more of that can shaking, just a little. ]

Come heeeeere, little dude.

[gloryisbullshit]

[There's another meow, and that purrgrowl starts up again. It butts its head against Brad's leg, rubbing against his ankle ONLY A LITTLE. Whar treet.]

[brolociraptor]

[ KITTY. It's pretty much the only thing going through Brad's head right now, that gleeful sort of thought; blame it on his parents, who never thought Brad was responsible enough to take care of a pet when he was a kid.

Here's your treat, kitty. Also, a quick behind-the-ears scratch. ] Man, you're fucking adorable.

[It sticks around and tolerates the petting just long enough to eat snack that Brad leaves it, and then it looks at him like he has no idea what he's done. It doesn't have a collar, so its dart back under the couch is completely silent. Brad's phone buzzes.]

when are you coming home

[ Brad just... giggles, at the cat. He knows cats are supposed to be skittish or whatever when they're new, so he leaves it alone and heads to the bedroom to change, picking up his phone as he goes. ]

Home already, when are you?
