rain rain go away;

the rain meme
Ah, rain—the precipitation that the whole world has a love/hate affair with. It waters the garden for free and ruins baseball games. It cools you off in the summer and it causes more ice and sleet to appear in the winter. Sometimes it is lovely and falls at a decent pace for a few hours, other times, it blasts the whole eastern seaboard away.
Poems and songs have been written about it, people have danced in it, others have cursed its entire existence, and still more refuse to go out and drive in it.
Now it’s time to roll some dice and see what the weather will have in store for you today.

intensity
1. DRIZZLE ☂ It’s not too heavy or too light of a downpour, just enough to wash away stuff in the air, water the ground, and clean up the streets.
2. MONSOON ☂ It’s horrible and awful! Rain is coming down in buckets, no one can get anywhere, the wind is whipping everything about, and now the cable is out.
3. SHOWER ☂ Reminds you of early spring, doesn’t it? A nice shower to make everything all green and smell fresh again. Lovely.
4. FLOOD ☂ While rain is good, it can sometimes be bad. Grab a boat!
5. CATS & DOGS ☂ You’re lucky with this one. It’s not the worst storm in the world, but it’s still pretty heavy. Be careful when driving!
prompts
1. A DARK, STORMY NIGHT ☂ You know all those stories that start off with a stormy night before something goes wrong: a murder, an attack by ninjas, a crime. It is one of the best known clichés in the world, and you’re stuck in the middle of it.
2. HUMIDITY ☂ It’s that time of the year again when the humidity rises and the rain has two options: make it worse or make it go away. Good luck getting the latter.
3. GRAY RAIN OF DEPRESSION ☂ We all know this one. Stuck in the middle of no where, or right after an argument, or something that leads to angst, the rain decides to express someone’s feelings in a physical form, serious or over the top.
4. QUIET MORNING ☂ Nothing to do, nowhere to be… sometimes the rain is a welcomed addition to a quiet day. Gives you an excuse to stay in, curl up in a warm blanket and a book, maybe a loved one or a cup of hot chocolate. With sprinkles.
5. PUDDLES ☂ After it rains, what is the number one thing you have to do? Go put on some rubber boots and splash around of course!
6. SUDDEN STORM ☂ It might have been predicted, but sometimes storms just sweep in and do their thing with little to no warning. Hope you’re not outside.
7. THUNDER & LIGHTNING ☂ Loud, surprising, scary, ominous, comforting, fantastic to watch or listen to… some like thunder and lightning, others not so much. Of course, if this happens before a big confrontation, the universe is telling you something.
8. CAN’T GET WORSE ☂ You did not say that. You did not just say that. How many times does this need to be seen in movies and books before anyone learns?
9. STUCK ☂ No, no, no, no. This cannot be happening. What happened to the ten percent chance of rain? You forgot your umbrella and now you’re stuck in it!
10. RUINED PLANS ☂ You had all these wonderful plans to go outside, have some fun in the sunshine, do some errands, maybe a date… and the weather goes against them.
11. DANCING ☂ Sometimes rain is a cause for celebration, or you just feel like doing something spontaneous. Grab someone to join you and get wet!
12. RAIN BATTLE ☂ The most intense, important battles happen in the rain. Verbal spars, punching someone in the guts; it’s all dramatic and climatic. And no one slips.
13. DATE ☂ Aww, don’t let the weather ruin your date! It can be really romantic, being out in the rain, and it’s always fun to go with the flow.
14. A DAY INSIDE ☂ Sometimes, it’s just better to stay inside and enjoy something simple and easy like board games or catching up on TV shows, or maybe the bills.
15. WILD CARD ☂ Was there something I missed? Did you want to roll again or choose your own adventure? Go for it!

1-1
Clint usually respects the boundaries between the defenders of Hell's Kitchen and the rest of Manhattan, after all, you can't have 'heroes' stepping all over each other's feet... they were surprisingly territorial. But the criminal he's after is an Avengers problem, if an incredibly elusive one-- And Clint's not past asking for help rather than demanding that the masks here stay out of his way.
It's why he's the one here rather than the others.
"Anything?" His eyes scan the streets below; neon light refracting off of wet windows and deep, rippling puddles, steam pouring up from sewer grates and manhole covers. They'd tracked the guy this far.
no subject
It's a miserable night for it. Not as bad as it can be, sure, but all the same Matt's lips curl into a grimace under the line of his mask. The trail is in and out. Clint's been more of a help than Matt in that aspect. Matt knows the area, though, knows places that most other people would never think of going. That's what led them here.
"Maybe. A window just closed across the street and there's someone moving in the puddles somewhere. A couple people, maybe, it's done now." Other than that, the drip-drip of the rain is consistent with no discernable interruption. Still better than snow.
no subject
He lifts his head, rain pouring off the lip of his hood before he pushes it back, hating how the fabric interferes with his peripheral. "I don't think-- " There's light across the street, just a flicker, like a flashing lighter.
"You said something about this guy smelling like cigars, right?"
no subject
He's already standing up, using his memory to gauge the distance. "I can give you a signal."
no subject
And Clint's always been better at a distance. "He's a runner. If you can't get him inside, lead him towards this street." He reaches back to ready a grappling arrow just incase, twisting the narrow shaft between his fingers before placing it in reach on ledge.
"Becareful, intel says he may be meeting up with others."
no subject
Ideally, they won't even see him coming. He backs up to get a running start and leaps off the ledge, and while his boot slips he still manages to land on the opposite roof. It's a hard, not finessed landing, but the Devil recivers quickly. Matt drops down on to the fire escape to listen. Empty floor. The window is locked, though, so it looks like he'll be making a street level entrance.
Matt is inside long enough for things to feel tense. He takes out enough of the guys in the dark to spook their target, and with a bit of careful planning, he's got the guy running out into the street exactly where Clint wants him.
no subject
Clint shifts his position on the adjacent roof, bow at the ready with an arrow notched, tracking DD as he moves through the dark until he vanishes inside. And then it's quiet for almost too long.
Almost but he's patient, keeping still despite the whip of wind and rain-- and then the door slams open.
"Oh hello--" He pulls back his string, waiting for the Devil to appear in the man's wake before releasing. The shot's a little impossible, at least in the pouring rain... in the dark. But their target goes down with a startled cry, an arrow pierced right through his achilles heel.
That oughta keep him from running again.
no subject
"You're lucky the Avengers want you," he tells the poor man writhing under his foot. "They might go easier on you than I will."
He raises his head to where he knows Clint was perched. By now Clint might be on the move, coming to meet them.
no subject
At the very least he catches his words and it makes him huff out a laugh. "You're a little scary, you know that?" Clint's already reaching into his vest to pull out a zip tie so he can kneel and bind the guy's wrists. "What happened to his buddies?"
no subject
Well. Matt's got a dark side that sometimes lets itself out without asking permission. He doesn't seem all that put off by it.
"They're inside." He nods his head towards the open door. "If you don't want them I'll call the police to come pick them up. Either way, they're down for the count for a while."
no subject
He lifts his chin as he rises, pulling his hood back up in a flute effort to keep the rain off. Too bad he's already soaked through.
"Nice job by the way, sure you don't want a team gig?"
no subject
Matt half-grins, half-smirks. He shrugs a shoulder. "I'm not what you'd call a team player, anyway."
no subject
"Actually no, they'll drive you nuts." He pulls out his own cell, tapping in the coordinance for a pick up.
"Occasional team-up though? Never a dull moment."
no subject
no subject
"And you know where to find us if you need a hand of your own. Big obnoxious building? Can't miss it."
no subject
"Big obnoxious building? Can't say I've ever seen it. You don't mind if I don't stick around for the pick up, do you?"
no subject
"Eh New Yorkers, never look up." He tips his fingers against his forehead in a mock salute. "Don't blame you, I wouldn't either but I'm still on the clock."
no subject
Matt gives a half-laugh, moving to the fire escape. It takes a moment to get a good grip on the slick metal, but then he's hoisting himself up. Of course, though, he won't go far. He's sure Clint's team isn't far out, but a lot can happen in a couple of minutes, so Matt lurks in the shadows on the roof. Just to make sure.
no subject
Thankfully there's little excitement left to the night besides the arrival of a van to come pick up their fugitive, but Hawkeye doesn't leave with them, apparently home is in the other direction and he's left to walk in the rain.
no subject
Matt filters through the rain hitting the roof, listens to the van drive away and, if he really focuses, he can hear Clint's footsteps splash against the pavement. Clint can take care of himself, sure, but Hell's Kitchen can be dicey - even on a night like this. He moves across the rooftops for a while (Daredevil doesn't really walk on the sidewalk) until he finally joins Clint street-side.
"Not a great night for a stroll."
no subject
"Already wet anyway." He grins. "You walking me home? How romantic."
no subject
His lips quirk up. Clint's about a good as friend as Matt lets himself have, might as well keep playing nice.
"Your friends couldn't give you a lift?"
no subject
"They were going in the other direction, anyway I just live across the bridge." Well maybe not just , but he could catch the subway eventually. "This way I can avoid a report until tomorrow." See that's the problem with being an 'official' hero.
no subject
Just putting that out there, Clint. But Matt does laugh, at least a bit, and he shrugs. "I can understand that. I never did like paperwork."
no subject
He pauses under an awning for a minute. "You want a grab a coffee, D?"
