Music is what gives life it’s spice. It brings emotion to us no matter how much we try not to show it; no matter the age, past, present, or the near future -- music will always be there for us. There’s those songs that make you happy enough to dance to, sad enough to make us shed a few tears, even ignite a dulled spark inside of lust or passion. Music has no given rules, therefore we can manipulate this to the best of our abilities to interpret the lyrics to be “relatable”.

INSTRUCTIONS:

[Pidge, or maybe Katie is a better name to go by at the moment, is working on a set of dance steps, while singing aloud. Those look a lot like swing dance steps.]

[It's the boppy music that lures him out, small smile tugging at the edges of his mouth as he does an abrupt turn from the direction he had been going to chase after the one faint snippet of sound he had heard. Sure, Coran has introduced them to... something that seems to be a form of Altean music and he's heard something or other coming from Lance's room once or twice when he's trying to get the other pilot up for early morning drills but -

when was the last time he heard cheerful upbeat music? A year at least. None of his music files had actually made the transition with him and, up until exactly this moment, he hadn't really even thought about how much he missed being able to tune into the top twenty countdown. He's not even sure exactly what he heard as he went past the hanger door but -

Intrigued, he ducks his head around the side of one of its open doors - and the smile spreads, starting crooked and going wider. Man. That was a classic. He loved this song. And, maybe it will embarrass her if he interrupts and she realizes he's caught her dancing but -

well, that's what quasi-big brothers are for.]

Ah, man. I love this song. Where'd you find it?

[It is embarrassing to be caught, but when Pidge turns, blushing, to see that smile on Shiro's face, the embarrassment doesn't matter.]

Oh, I had it on my computer, it and some other songs that I like to listen to, this one is great for helping me cheer up.

[On a whim there is a hand being held out to Shiro, an invitation to dance.]

[He's fairly sure that some of the others might tease him a bit, good naturally, if they found out about his taste in music. He's been told its not 'cool'. But he loves the hip-hop, be-bop, just made to make people happy music and its not something he'd deny if asked. If Pidge has that song on, he wonders what others she's got and if she can make him a download. But before he can ask, she gives her invitation and -

he coughs a laugh. But he does step forward and take her hand in his.]

I'm really not much of a dancer but I can manage the twirls.

[She wouldn't even begin to tease him about the music, considering it's some of her favorite too. She smiles as he takes her hand, glad to have someone to dance with. She knew the medical rational of why dancing to good, happy music made you feel better, but right now she just wanted to do the activity, not think about the facts.]

That's okay, I just hope I don't step on your feet.

They're big feet. I've got plenty to spare if you do.

[His smile said he wasn't really worried about it. She was small enough that she wouldn't do that much damage even if she did and besides -

when was the last time he'd danced? In any form? Grinning, he gave her a little twirl.]

I've missed the sound of music.

[And she twirled well, having enjoyed dancing while she was growing up, and now finding solace in it.

She returned from the twirl and started an easy swing step that Shiro should be able to follow.]

I was missing it too... and dancing. I used to dance with dad, and Matt.

[He had his coordination at least, something that sometimes seemed hyper aware in ways that worried him. This time though it served him for something harmless and he chuckled a sound as he followed her lead and picked up on the easy steps. Her words though had his face softening and his smile went gentle.]

Then its a good thing you're staying in practice. I think they're going to need to remember to dance after we get them back.

[She looked up at him and tried to avoid the sadness, and instead focus on the good things.]

Will you help me make sure they remember? Maybe... we could plan a party and make sure everyone remembers what it's like.

[They could remind Hunk, Lance and Keith of home too, and even teach Allura and Coran about some more things from Earth.]

[He knows its a difficult subject and he's proud of her for taking the positive route. It's not the easiest course but he thinks its healthier for her - and everyone else to keep looking for a positive future. To focus on the good. They'll have enough bad thrown at them as they go. Hanging on to the light is where they'll find their strength. So he grins at her question and makes a sound that's part laugh, part hum of agreement. And spins her again for good measure.]

Sounds like a perfect plan. Of course I'll help.
