the captivity meme

THE CAPTIVITY MEME

You've been captured -- or maybe you've been held captive for a while now. Whatever the case, you've lost your freedom, and there's a specific person responsible for that. You might be a prisoner, a mental patient, a kidnap victim, or someone's pet. Maybe you're there willingly, or maybe the choice has been taken away from you completely.

Both smut and non-smut scenarios are possible. If you don't want to play smut, please indicate so in the title line of your tag.

1. Leave a tag with your character. Be sure to include any limits on what you are willing to play, as this meme has the potential to be triggering.

2. Someone else tags in and uses RNG to generate a number between 1 and 9. The second character is holding the first character captive now.

3. ???

4. Profit!

Scenarios

1. For their own good. Does this person really think they could make it on their own? It's a big, scary world out there, and you need to protect them from it, whether they like it or not.

2. For the good of society. Forget protecting this person -- it's your duty to protect the world from them! Maybe they committed a terrible crime, or maybe they were falsely condemned, but it's your job to keep them locked up where they can't do any more harm.

3. Because they're not well. How's your bedside manner? Whether you're Florence Nightingale or Mildred Ratched, you're in the position of ministering to the mentally ill. Maybe this person genuinely needs your help, or maybe you're just turning a blind eye to their true sanity.

4. For the money. Higher aims? What higher aims? This person is your meal ticket, and they're staying put until their loved ones pay up.

5. For their love. It might be a case of yandere, or it might be a consenting BDSM relationship. Whether it's by mutual agreement or by force, you're keeping them simply because you love them.

6. Because they're cute and fluffy. Who's a cutesy wutesy? They are! Yes, they are! This person is your pet now. Maybe they're a different species from you, or maybe you just don't care that you're both people. Maybe you're even an alien zookeeper looking after a new acquisition.

7. Because they're your property. Slave? Livestock? Who cares what they think - they're your property, and you decide their fate.

8. For the lulz. Hey, what's a little bondage between friends? You'll let them go, once you're done laughing and snapping photos... maybe.

9. Choose a scenario, or combine several.

Rolled an impossible 4 but hell, let's do this thang

It hadn't exactly been an offer Hannibal had been expecting, and in fact it felt quite below him - but he'd been given something that, he was assured, would quiet the 'god's powers. He'd been told as well, in no uncertain terms, that the interested party was more than capable of silencing him just as easily as they could their sorcerous prey - and they'd seemed unamused when Hannibal had then questioned why they didn't do their own dirty work.

So Hannibal is sitting on a mossy rock, watching in the dimmest of twilights the sight of a manacled Loki attached to a tree at their 'meeting place'. Going off of the moon's position in the slowly-greying sky, he still has two hours before dawn is met and his...'employers' will be coming to collect their reward.

Loki's still passed out from the elixir he was given earlier, but Hannibal was assured it would wear off in just enough time... Which was why he'd gone through the plans early. Hannibal was heartless, perhaps, capable of immense cruelty both to those that wronged him and those that got in his way - but Loki had done nothing to him.

Hannibal was anticipating the sleeping godling would awake before the dawn approached and the strange 'Chitauri', as they had called themselves, would come to meet them. Perhaps he could sate his curiosity if nothing else...would Loki beg, would he give Hannibal whatever information he sought for his freedom? Or would he be beligerant?

The strange crickets of the Citadel are the only sound above two pairs of lungs breathing.

It is barely sleep that Loki has been thrown into, but more like unconsciousness. It is heavy, deep, dreamless, and unrestful. As Loki lies on the shore between sleep and waking, the gentle tide of slumber receeding, he shifts in his place on the ground at the base of the tree he is chained to. Eyelids are reluctant to open but it's only a delayed moment after doing so when Loki jolts in his place, moving to sit up when he sees the shackles around his wrists.

Loki does not recall this place, and in fact doesn't entirely believe he has ever been here in all of his time spent in L’Arc en Rêves. He stares confused, follows the chain up to the tree. He grabs and yanks, pulls, with no luck. He can feel that his powers are drained, the song of the Nine Realms dulled and muted in the back of his mind. He knows this feeling all too well.

But out of the corner of his eye, he spots Hannibal. He whips around, affronted, staring wide-eyed. Do your best to keep calm, Loki.

"What is going on," Loki asks, inflection gone from his voice, a demand hidden in his tone. Tell me or I will end you where you sit.

There had been no guilt, but there had been a want to see if this situation was reversible, before - a willingness to cooperate with any plan Loki could engineer, let him know what exactly had happened. But when the god stirs and finds his powers muted, has no choice but to look with eyes widened with startled adrenaline at him...

Hannibal feels a rush of power, the thrill of the taunt, and his head tilts upwards slightly, tilts sideways so he seems to be studying a specimen. "I've merely done as instructed. What have you done to deserve a bounty on your head, my fallible god?" His voice is slow in enjoyment of the words, tone dangerously playful.

Loki's head spins as it tries to grasp for reality, for conscious function, and at Hannibal's words. He almost wonders if this is some bizarre dream, but he knows what is real and what is not. Gods do not lose themselves in the depths of their own minds as easily as humans can. No, this is definitely real...horrifyingly so.

The Aesir is not phased by Hannibal's smugness -- it only serves to fan the fire behind Loki's wrath, and he brings himself up to his knees, lunging forward uselessly, being tugged back slightly by the tree holding him in place. "Instructed by whom? Who are you working for?" This definitely isn't S.H.I.E.L.D.'s style, and any Asgardian sent to collect him and his not-brother wouldn't hide behind the services of a human like a coward.

Through the enraged look on Loki's face, alarm sets in by a few degrees as he considers the only alternative left to consider.

"Is this what you look like when you encounter snags? I wouldn't have taken you for one to give up so quickly," Hannibal drawls, not interested at all, it appears, in answering Loki's question. But his eyes are sharply examining Loki's posture, noting that he actually does seem to have the beginnings of fear ghosting through the anger twisting his clever face.

He stays on his rock, sitting rigidly upright now instead of leaning casually back, wondering if Loki will see any hidden meaning in his words or if he will take them at face value. For Hannibal...would expect Loki to miss it completely, not even consider them. Why would he suspect anything less of a man like himself? But if Loki felt like grasping at traitorous straws, perhaps he wouldn't give up on Hannibal so quickly, perhaps he would elaborate for both of their sakes.

I cannot save you without your help. "Who are the Chitauri, my fallen king? That's what they call you, you know. Once they've established your name once they seem to prefer petnames of sorts."
thispoisonousdream: (Loki ↔ Grr)

[personal profile] thispoisonousdream 2012-08-01 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Loki freezes, wide-eyed with astonishment, at the mentioning of the Chitauri. Damn it. Why is Hannibal cooperating with them? Are they promising him power or wealth, or some sort of silly prize? He has a hard time believing Hannibal to be so naive.

"And what is their pet name for their little obedient dog, pray tell?" Loki sneers, still struggling to break free of his bonds, expecting the chain to snap at any moment. "If you really are one of their minions, you don't need me to explain what a despiteful, ruthless species they are. You think they're going to just send you on your merry way when all of this is over?" Whatever this is, but it's sort of obvious to Loki. "There is nothing you could offer them, not even me, that will appease their appetite to destroy. They won't be satisfied until they have erradicated every world in the universe, until they are the last civilisation standing."

Loki has no idea if this will effectively shake Hannibal up about who he is dealing with, or if his words fall on ignorantly deaf ears.

Hannibal's smirking right back at Loki's sneer, ready to snap something back at him as an appropriate 'nick name' for himself, but Loki keeps speaking, and his words actually falter the grin on the cannibal's face. He'd not wanted to do the Chitauri's bidding, of course, and had already suspected that foul play would be involved. Hadn't it already? Hannibal isn't a fidgeter, or he may have reached for the odd scarring left on shoulder where a member of that bizarre, ghastly race had grasped him to initially get his attention. It had burned instantly but healed just as swift, the ache something Hannibal could ignore - but the message was rather clear.

He draws in a breath, sighs it out almost dramatically as he looks over at Loki, sees how worked up the god is over being given to the Chitauri. "You must have quite the interesting relationship to one another to know so much of them...but be hunted by them. Allies turned enemies?" He smiles, but it's almost distracted, just the barest teasing flicker before he continues onto what is actually important right now. "Unfortunately, I've been assured I will be one of the many erradicated things they leave in their wake should I not turn you in to them..." He pauses in mock-thought, but also to let it sink in - he may be relaying the events with more flair than they deserve, but Hannibal isn't lying.

"If only I could be even more confident that someone else was capable of keeping them at bay."
